[News] Lardarius Webb Confident Despite Missing Preseason

36 posts in this topic

I wish I shared Webb's confidence, but I don't. The injury history, and it's Real bad, is one thing. But, also, I haven't seen the Webb I saw before he signed his first non-rookie contract. He has just Not played as well as he did before that contract. He's got a lot of proving to do for me to be back on his band wagon. In fact, our secondary Still gives me cause for concern. Sure hope I'm worrying about nothing.

We know Jimmy got D-Thomas and Webby got Sanders. We need our front seven to generate pressure and and if we don't hit Peyton early and often, it is going to be a LONG DAY!!!

Has a player ever said he wasn't ready or up for the challenge?  IJS!

I personally feel that Webb at this point in his career is just an above avg CB.

Hope he proves me wrong, but I just don't see it.  Don't think we'll ever see

the 2011 Webb again.

sad to say, above average is being generous. Webb should honestly be our 4th cb. But at this point I might want to see what Terrance brooks can do in the hybrid role. Idk he has to win be back over. I like him but watching him get beat was rough

duos in the pass rush, duos in the o line, would then love to see duos in the receivers group, running backs and in the secondary. until we see that develop later in the season, we cannot have our secondary perform as poorly as the steelers did last night. not against manning

Webb hasn't shown anything for years now. But this might be the perfect role for him to step into. This is now a veteran secondary with 2 potential pro bowlers in Hill and Smith. Webb will only have to do the light lifting, Smith will carry the mail.

Webb definitely needs to prove it on the field but this might just be a role he can handle. For sure he isn't a shutdown corner any more but with seasoned pros like Arrington, Smith, Hill and Lewis he might just fit right in.

Fingers crossed. Our defense might just be more than Denver can handle with their weakened offensive line. We are certainly better than we were at any time last year.

I like Flacco and Trestman's chances on the other side of the ball. Without one of their starting corners and the heavy lifting being done by the O line we could easily wear out Denver's defense.

I give the Ravens the edge in this one but execution and turnovers will decide what should be a very close game.

I'm nervous already.

Webb's body is not cut out for the NFL. Many annalist and I agree if we had just one more healthy & good CB last year it would have been Ravens SB but Ravens keep hoping on Webb and he has cost this team dearly in money and a roster spot.

If both Webb & J Smith stay healthy this season it will be a miracle for us, a miracle that I am hoping for. I don't remember the last time our 2 starting CB's (Jimmy & Webb) played a full season together.

I just hope him missing the entire training camp and practice wont affect his gameplay. I remember last season when he did play he was kind of rusty.

I can not wait to see what kind of team John and Ozzie put together this year in Denver. Big questions 1). Can Ravens still run the ball? 2. Who will emerge as the number 2 receiver since SSS is double teamed. 3) Who will return kicks? 4). Will Webb get hurt?

If I was Webb I would be expecting pass number 1 to come right for my guy. Take a few steps back and jump the route as soon as Manning raises his arm to throw. I expect a lot of short to intermediate passes from Manning with a LOT of runs.

I'm supremely confident that Webb will play great football. Talent never washes up, your body does. Now, that his body is healed up, he'll be a great CB for us alongside Jimmy Smith and Kyle Arrington in the slot. Add Will Hill and Kendrick Lewis to these 3, you have an awesome secondary playing against Peyton Manning or anybody else for that matter!

It was 2013. Proof is in the pudding and I am hoping Sunday night we see Smith and Webb going in the right direction.

We'll need his A game on Sunday very, very badly. If Peyton and Kubiak realize we have a hole in the secondary, they'll kill us through that one hole...

In 2013. And that was the ONLY season both of them played the full season.

Honestly, I think I have more confidence in Melvin than Webb. I wish this site would stop hyping him up because he really has not done anything for years and can't stay on the field. I am sure the Broncos will come right at him and successfully too. I hope he proves me wrong, but I have not liked what I have seen from him for years...

THis will be a great test for our re-vamped DBackfield. Will Hill, Kendrick Lewis and Arrington were not available in that debacle vs the Donkeys last year. A healthy Jimmy Smith, and LWebb going into this one makes me feel much better and then you add in the additions who were not part of that (Hill, Lewis, Arrington and RMelvin) and we should obviously fare much better. We still need to be able to move the ball and play some possession ... and we still need to commit to getting pressure on Peyton. (Suggs, Dum, Timmy, Upshaw, ZSmith) can really determine the outcome of this game. If we don't 1. move the chains and 2. Keep pressure on Peyton then we will struggle but if we can do those two things we can give the Donkey's some payback!

The upside is...Harbs spent a year getting to know Kubiack and how he wants to operate. That familiarity could prove to be an advantage for us from a preparation standpoint.

I look for Manning to go right at Webb and we will know how this season will go in about 3 plays.

Exactly!  I'd be surprised if he didn't go after and keep going after Webb throughout the game.  I would!

Melvin has been ruled out for Sunday . For some reason I think we might actually pull up Asa Jackson for cb depth on Sunday and I think he may actually end up being the KR after all.

I'll believe it when I see it. The secondary will more than have their work cut out for themselves come Sunday. Hope it's not a repeat of the Pats/Steelers game. Us being the Steelers that is. We'll see.
