[News] Late For Work 9/11: The Picks Are In: Plenty Doubt Ravens Can Beat Broncos

104 posts in this topic

I truthfully want to know. Do schools in Boston condone cheating? Do they say, "Other people do it" and turn the other cheek? I understand the reaction to explain away things we don't want to believe are true. I did it with Rice. Eventually, the amount of "coincidental" events and circumstantial evidence becomes to great to explain away. Do we really need to see a guy pointing a jamming device at the Steelers sidelines to know they are up to something? I am sure the fans would come up with an excuse for why he was there. Yes, I am a Patriot hater but that is because I have zero respect for a franchise that has done so much harm to a game I love.

Steve Smith looks mad on every interview he has been in recently. I really hope he channels it week one and puts up 100 yards and 3 touchdowns. Would really be nice to start off the season on the road with a win, but it is not a must win game. As long as they win those division games those are more important.

The Patriots just can't stop cheating!

Fans will point out that noone is dumb enough to do that in this situation because of the world watching but I believe they are so arrogant and addicted to cheating they will do anything they want. Let's say it was them, what is the league going to do? Nothing.

The NFL has already taken responsibility for this, as they have in the past when it has happened to 31 other NFL teams (the Baltimore Ravens included) at various stadiums in this country.

But, that's not sexy, so...

Sorry, but I flat out do not believe Belichick's after the fact claim that the Pats headsets were not working either. If that were true, the media would have absolutely found out and commented on it. The Steelers had to go without communication in to the second quarter. This is not the first time this has happened in NE. Of course the Pats have a competitive advantage when the opposition's headsets have interference. Belichick's claim that their headsets also weren't working was nothing but an afterthought to cover the Pats backside for cheating again.

The shameless Cheatriots do it yet again! The arrongance of that organization is mind blowing to put it mildly. First they have the audacity to parade their ill gotten SBs before the start of the game. Then they begin their next episode of cheating in an endless cycle of bent rules and cheating scandals! I had half a mind to send out a girl with a huge banner with nothing but an "ASTERISK" behind each player that brought out the SB. Communication is key in today's NFL to win any game period. With the Cheatriots however, there is no escaping their vice. If you use headsets they scramble them and if you use hand signals they tape them! How can you possibly win against these frauds?

And yet, we've beaten them consistently in their stadium against such dubious odds! So, the question is how good are we really?? That is why the Ravens will win SB 50 and win it like men and not cheating cowards.

First off, we should have had a reception like that in 2013. That would have been awesome. I still can't get over how we got screwed by our own city's team.

Secondly, we should watch this tape a lot when facing the Steelers. There's no way we can contain the Steelers explosive offense. Did you guys watch how Antonio Brown snatched a potential interception and gained positive yards. I am in awe of this guy. Too bad he wearing the wrong uniform. :) The only way is to keep up with them or stay ahead of them in scoring. Their secondary looks weak and something we can exploit.

And please let Jimmy Smith handle Brown complete game. He is going to torch Webb/Arrington in the slot.

"Flacco: "We can talk about how good we are all we want. That's why I'm not really big on doing that. We have to go out there and play well."

There was once a certain QB who said "Talk is cheap. Let's play football." ;)

I can't stand the Steelers. They have ruined some post-season runs in the past and they always put up a good fight. But I respect them and I appreciate the way they play. The Patriots are a different story. They are arrogant, self-righteous punks who win by pushing the boundaries of the rules or breaking the rules all together. I hope karma catches up to them.

I know it's always good when the Steelers lose but it sure was tough hoping the patsies would win last night. Got to admit it was funy when the crowd were chanting "Where's Roger?"

... or they are just too clever to think: "if we do it NOW, nobody will think we dared to do it on purpose because of all the deflategate-aftermath... so everyone think it was a technical glitch... so, let's do it" ;)

Not a good way for Pats to start the year if they want to leave behind cheating controversies. But I guess they don't care what people think. If they can get away with it, it works. Team with integrity over Patriots any day. Seriously, they make me so sick I'd almost cheer for Steelers.

To be honest, I'm a little apprehensive of Sunday's game too, but then there is no one better than Ravens to surprise everybody. All the analysts rooting against Bmore make me suddenly feel more optimistic :D

Pats are still shady. Nothing new. Have to beat them, literally and figuratively, on the field. Smack them in the mouth, and they will start to crumple. The Stillers D of old would have done that last night, but the new crew doesn't have it in them. I feel confident that won't be a problem for the Ravens.

Mind boggling how the Cheatriots get away with this stuff. AFC Championship game. Cundiff is rushed out because the play clock was "accidentally" not reset. Cundiff misses. Patriots go to the superbowl. Hmmm? Always something odd in Gilette stadium. Oh but we hate them because we are jealous. Right

Its not just the team that cheats its everyone associated with that team. Again last night it just happen Pitts radios were picking up the broadcast. Not New England. New England fan deserve to get tormented when they go to other stadiums. Its part of their Rich snobbish England attitude.

Never thought I would fell sorry for the Steelers, and I don't, but at some point someone needs to disinfect that lying, cheating franchise from the owner all the way down to corrupt low level employees. Sure the league provided the headsets, but the team provides the power, installation, infrastructure, etc.... That worked out so well with the league with the "referee's locker room attendant" who is supposed to be neutral.

Does everyone realize Bellichick, known for "Cutting corners" meaning sports cheating, literally cut a corner hours before each point in deflategate where he could have been implicated or punished. The morning the Wells report was released he cut Denard, the morning the team fines were announced he cut Arrington, and hours before Kraft accepted the punishment he cut that JAG (just a guy) corner. These were metaphorical punishments to him and his team to keep them out of the headlines. He cut them at a time when his team was depleted in the secondary. Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action.

Does anyone really believe that Brady got off on a technicality because NFL administration and lawyers were "just stupid"? Public relations 101 if you are guilty, it is better to be perceived by the public as stupid than corrupt or evil.

Every time I see these QB figures for contracts I cringe... I mean the NFL Salary caps are skyrocketing but every single QBs is... Before it was rookie top 5 draft picks getting ridiculous salaries. And now all the QBs are becoming 100M plus salaries. As recent as early 2000s top paid players were Left Tackles with some QBs sprinkled in as well. I remember being at Nick Saban LSU football camp, when I was in highschool and for added motivation they showed us graphics of what " the fat guys" the O-Line were making and at that time Orlando Pace and Walter Jones were the top paid players, shortly after that Vick got a monster deal from Atlanta that made him the highest paid player.

Seems like teams are trying to pull the WR market down a bit, after the crazy deals that guys like Fitzgerald got that lead to Calvin Johnson mega-deal... I think Dallas and Denver did a reasonable job of not going to crazy paying Bryant & Thomas...

I'm sure Belichick said it doesn't say anything in the rulebook about literally assaulting and battering a referee "after" the game is over. Like he did at the end of one of the games where we beat him. He only got a $50K fine, no big deal for him. He also was whining in his post game press conference after the Broncos beat him in 2013, when Welker picked Talib in a dirty play he taught Welker how to perform. Sure it was just a "grounding issue" that caused the flagship station for the Patriots to play over the opposing teams headsets. NFL problem not Patriots. Because if it were the Patriots again, that would look bad for the NFL.

And them taking responsibility for a technical problem doesn't make them look bad?

The organization that makes billions in revenue annually can't get headsets to work in the same stadium, but they're worse off letting one of their employees take the credit for it?

Not buying it. Just like Deflategate, there's no possible way the NFL doesn't come out of this looking bad, assuming they care at all, because tomorrow this won't even be a story.

One game into the regular season and already so much negativity. Can't we just celebrate the positives like the Steelers losing? Certainly that's worth a hip hip hooray.

Man I wish Baltimore could have had a SB celebration like the Patts did last night instead of traveling on the road to Denver. Does it really surprise anyone that Baltimore first game is in Denver, again, against their old offensive Coordinator? John Elway ranks right up on my despise list with Bill Bel-I_cheat. The league hates Baltimore it time to embrace it and stop trying to get them to like us.

Yup. A good team that is a threat to the Ravens got beat by another good team who is also a threat to the Ravens.

Headsets don't play football... players do.

This is exactly why you cannot take most of these reporters serious. Out of one side of their mouth they say that Baltimore is the favorite to win the superbowl and then out of the other side of their mouth they never believe that we can beat the good teams? How are we supposed to win a super bowl if we are not good enough to beat the good teams. DO they think we are going to face the NFLs worst team in the super bowl. Shows a great deal about their credibility. Often their picks and comments are more to generate hype then it is reporting truth. Don't listen to these media clowns...most of them will say whatever it takes to generate attention (and negative attention is still attention).

Blame the hometown Orioles (and maybe the Chicago White Sox a little bit) for that one.

What did you think? The NFL was going to kickoff their season with a road game against Cleveland?

First game of the season is about ratings, not about doing the previous SB champ a favor. Something tells me they could have picked an easier opponent for the Patriots in their season opener than the Steelers, yet they picked them.
