[News] Ravens Confident Kamar Aiken Is Ready To Start

50 posts in this topic

he came through against a tough pats defense in the playoffs last year And also on the last play against San Diego that could have won us the game if we had a timeout. And that very well could have been the difference in us getting in the playoffs if not for Kansas City. So he has came through in the clutch before , and that was in the little oppurtunities he was given. Your basing your judgment a little but too much off of the preseason games. Other than that there is such a small sample size you have no basis for saying you don't see the "boldin" in his eyes. He took a pretty big hit in the red skins game when he got piledrived and got right back up, so I'm not doubting his toughness.

Not his toughness but his aggression. Ravens don't need another Torrey on the team. We shall see Sunday if the Ravens are not behind and Denver is sending the house on Joe.

Hope he learns when going deep to turn around and jump to attack the ball. Other than Smith Sr, there is no one on the roster that can do that. Torrey Smith went to the other coast just because he couldn't do that. I don't have many expectations for Aiken as a starter. But that may be a good thing. Hope he surprises me.

It's a nice story for Aiken, gaining some time as a starter, after making a team period. But I still say I don't see him keeping that #2 spot all season. Whether it be Marlon Brown, or perhaps even Perriman (if the kid can ever even get on the field), I think someone else will take the spot from him. I'm pulling for Marlon to make some splash plays and show he's "still got it" (he never lost it).

Good for Aiken. He worked hard, showed his talent and came in on top of a good group of WR's. WHile the Ravens will probably rotate more WR than most teams do, you cannot take anything away from him being named the teams #2. I think we have a long list of #2b's. Steve is going to need some breaks out there, I expect to see Marlon and Darren out there for a lot of downs. S Sr. was a great example for this young group, He sets the bar high and leaves it all out on the field!

"LET THEM PLAY"! These young WRs are ready and can prolly do these we can't imagine but people sayin "he can't go long" or this or that just let them play! Ozzie and Co has done pretty good pickin talent if you ask me!

This could be a blessing for the Ravens. If Aiken comes out and plays like we all know he can then its just another weapon for Flacco when Perriman come back.

One thing I know, he will catch about 90% of the balls thrown his way and let's not forget catching passes from Joe ain't easy because Joe's passes got extra velocity. With that being said, I am very comfortable with him at the WR2 and expect him to do very well. Last but not least, He will score a TD this Sunday. Cheers!!

He gets open and has good hands, but I have a major problem with his ability to smartly play the ball. I wish him nothing but the best, of course, but I see him do things not come back for a comebacker and not jump for a jump ball... he runs good routes and has good hands, like I said, but I haven't seem him demonstrate that he'll fight for the ball. He seems to have a problem with letting the ball come to him rather than going to get the ball. That's why I honestly predict a lot of interceptions will be thrown his direction this year. It was the same with Torrey Smith last year, he wasn't playing the ball smart, wasn't fighting for the ball, wasn't going to get the ball. That kind of passivity in a receiver leads to defenders who want the ball more being able to go fight for and get the ball. I have a major problem when I see receivers letting that happen. Hopefully I'm wrong about Kamar, but from what I've seen of him so far, that's my perception.

What kind of a response was that from SSS to the question about Aiken? I consider it almost disrespectful. It was a sports reporter, for Pete's sake, not another NFL player. An invitation for the reporter to take his tie and jacket off and see how he'd do against Aiken, c'mon. Hey, Steve, how about you take off your pads and helmet and pick up a pad and pen and see how you stack up against the sports reporter doing His job. He asked a legitimate question and didn't deserve what you said. Now, to give you credit where it's due, you Did, then go on to properly answer the question about how you felt about Aiken's readiness. I guess that feisty attitude you play on the field with just can't be turned off even for interviews. It was out of line, kind of ridiculous, and he didn't deserve that. I love how you play on the field, though. There, is where that feistiness and competitiveness belongs. To be honest, though, even there I wish that you could still learn to better control it a bit. I'd love to see you be able to dial it down once a play is over because I just hate it when it gains you personal foul or unsportsmanship conduct penalties. They really hurt the team. Heck, I hate All penalties, though. I know that their part of the game, but I think we get More than our share. I know people will think I'm down on SSS, but that's not true. Actually, he's one of my Very favorite Ravens and I will miss him Greatly after this year. Oh how I wish we could have drafted him and had him for his entire career. He is definitely Raven material.

where we lack at WR we make up with our Tight Ends. I hope we use a few 2TE sets, I know I wouldnt mind seeing SSS, Camp, Aiken, Maxx and Croc on a 3rd and 10

Did you watch the Ravens in the early years? ENOUGH of this baby crying. This is FOOTBALL not badminton. Just more of the wussification of the American male. How about Stop asking Stupid questions?. Its quit obvious sports reports have no idea what team concept means. Go ask Aiken not Steve and stop trying to get the got ya question so you can stir up crap. "Steve said your......blaw.. blaw..

Yeah I know best receiver is usually double covered by a linebacker/safety and their number 2 corner but Harris is such a good corner to be honest I bet he could limit Steve Smith all day. I love Steve but Harris is also a stud. As the defensive coordinator in Denver I would almost want to limit how many players were on Smith to shut down the run if at all possible.

He is a very good corner and honestly size-wise matching him up with Steve makes sense as well, since Talib is much bigger/slower than Harris is.  But if they put him on Kamar instead, that takes him out of the game and basically leaves us with one receiving option who's going to be double-covered all night, because I don't see Kamar getting a ton of separation on Harris (even though I love Kamar). You want to force your opponent to have to choose between throwing into double coverage or throwing into tight single coverage.

Don't put too much emphasis on our wide outs. This upcoming game is going to depend a lot on our tight ends. The Broncos can't handle Gillmore and both Williams and Boyle have to play not like rookies which is asking a lot. Keep the Denver secondary off balance.

I liked the play last night that New England Ran with 2 wide outs strong right, then Gronk and Chandler left side sliding Chandler underneath the GRonk for a TD. This is a great set for the Ravens against Denver!

The reporter asked Smitty about the "unproven" Kamar Aiken and he replied with his usual aplomb, "unproven to you." The coaches say he's ready but man I tell you what, if there is one guy in that locker room who knows if a receiver is "proven" and ready for prime time it would be Smith Sr. I wish the young man a ton of success because he's put in the work, kept his nose clean and earned the respect of his coaches and peers. They've said this is the best 53 + 10 and we're gonna roll with what we've got. That's good enough for me. Best of luck Kamar now bring on the Broncos.
