[News] Late For Work 9/10: 'Doggone' Joe Flacco Returns To Scene Of Crime

85 posts in this topic

Perriman missing week#2? Does anyone still think we are gonna get any meaningful production out of him before Week5-6? Even if he comes back Week#2 or 3, it will take at least a couple of weeks to get into form and get inserted into the system. So, I don't think anyone should expect him to be a real contributor before mid-October the earliest. That's especially sad for Week#1, where Flacco, who can fling it, and could do it even further with the thinner air, won't have a single genuine deep threat... That won't only make our offensive game much more predictable, it will also inevitably reduce Flacco's efficiency and production.

Why cut Brown?! I thought he played exceptionally well. Are we bringing him back at all? I hope they do!

Well, they know better than any of us, fans can possibly do... so, I guess they had their good reasons to cut him and not others. Will he be back? Could easily happen. Bynes was cut, resigned then cut again last season, between the last roster slimming and week#1...

As for this "is it an advantage for the Broncos that Kubiak wass our OC last season" topic... Kubiak was the HC in Housto for long years before he came to Baltimore - and look how much of an advantage it proved to be when we faced the Texans last season...

Also, this logic should also work backwards: if it's an advantage for Kubiak that he worked for us, it should also ba an advantage for us that we know how Kubiak thinks...

In reality, it's the players who are gonna decide the outcome...

The funny thing about the 2013 Week#1 game in Denver that everyone remembers it as a total collapse. In fact, Flacco was nearly not as bad as many remember. The only stat that's really terrible, was his 2 INT's. Otherwise, he had a rather OK outing, going 34/62, 362 yards and 2 TD's. It's, in fact, a better stat-line than that of his Mile High Miracle game stats (18/34, 331 yards), with the exception of the 3 TD's and no INT's...

Sadly, it was the weak running game (courtesy of a ramshackle O-line) and an underperforming D that made that game a tragedy...

Would love to hear from Perriman himself on what is going on. Just a little more info than "no timetable".

I'm not sure he could be more specific. He can only tell us what the doctors tell him... Players always feel 100% and ready to go way before they actually are :)

Flacco's playoff bomb to Jacoby with time running out is a "play that stands as 1 of the most excruciating moments in Bronco history". Music to my ears. I sense an undercurrent of fear and worry from the Denver media. Hope we can get in the Bronco's heads and have another heartbreaking play to seal the win.

True but he could say how it feels. Is he running? Jogging? In constant pain. Anything would be nice.

I'm worried about Perriman missing too much time just like the next guy. However, we can still work it. Marlon Brown isn't a speedster as such, but he can get in the red zone and he can make plays. Campanaro got deep for the catch in pre-season. And we'll still be moving the chains with Steve Smith Sr. Maybe he won't catch the balls as deep, but he'll carry them there on foot.

I hope Bronco fans also remember that they brought that playoff loss on themselves by hanging billboards touting Ray's last game and talking about the following weeks game in NE like they already won the game against us before the game even started. That's what made the win even sweeter for us and hopefully even worse for them.

Yeah, that would be something to go by - what I cannot help noticing, however, is how he gave exactly 0 interviews ever since. I think he's been told not to take pressers and interviews, not to answer questions...

Well, depth wins championships - but the pre-season seemed to indicate that we don't have a deep threat depth behind Perriman. Marlon's catch was really a thing of beauty - but it was against backups, and one catch all pre-season... We either don't have a legit backup for Perriman's eep threat abilities, or we did a tremendous job concealing it :)

Sadly, it was the weak running game (courtesy of a ramshackle O-line) and an underperforming D that made that game a tragedy...

I decided to break this down (2013 opener) to see if there was a difference in his stats after we were getting blown out...

1st quarter... 11/15, 82 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT

2nd quarter... 7/17, 101 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT

3rd quarter... 4/14, 43 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT

4th quarter... 12/20, 136 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

So basically, 1st half, while the game was competitive (we were actually winning), he was 18/32 for 183 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.

2nd half, game largely out of reach by mid-3rd quarter, he was 16/34 for 179 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.

Looks pretty consistent, although we were down by 18 going into the fourth quarter, so not really sure what to make of his 4th quarter stats.

Though if you look at it, 2nd and 3rd quarters, he was pretty terrible... 11/31, 144 yards and 1 INT. We were outscored 35-10 during those 2 quarters.

Not to put all the blame on Joe though...

In the third quarter of that game, where we were outscored 21-0, we had five possessions. We ran 18 offensive plays TOTAL in those five possessions, and gained a total of 32 yards on those 18 offensive plays.

3 Plays I remember from the 2013 game in Denver are, Dallas Clark dropping a Touchdown, A Dropped pass that was not Challenged by the Ravens and Kept an early drive going for Denver, and of Course Brynden Trawick running into Jacoby Jones. The Defense in the 2nd half was gassed and The thin air must of got to them. I hope we get a few 3 and outs at the Beginning of the the 1st quarter and Joe and Crew eat up the Timeclock.

Ok, so we lack the deep threat for now but keep this in mind: Denver's best safety isn't playing and Crockett Gilmore is ready to explode on to the scene. 90 Yards, 2 TD's ..

the hype video is freaking sweet. Way better than last year's piece of crap for the Patriots game when they featured that horrifically overplayed fall out boy song

You guys are getting way too technical about a game that was played 2 years ago...  and really???  We lost.  It's the Past.  Time to move into 2015.  Sheesh...  We are a better team now.

Go Ravens.

Didn't they say he was jogging around catch balls before the game against the Falcons?

I don't know how much that helps.  All that tells me is he is out of the boot.

Do you people remember this game?  Jacoby Jones going down really hurt the offense. Flacco looked like he could keep up with Manning, until he went down.  The defense was able to double cover Smith and put pressure on Flacco because Rice wasn't doing anything and Brown and Stokely(who was was looking his age) were the only other receivers.

Well, lets face it... if Jacoby was playing a key role in our offense, we were doomed to begin with.

Don't think he was ever in a boot and if I recall that comment mentioned he was walking around the field catching balls. Not running or jogging. Found it:

Brent Harris @BrentCSN Sep 3

Perriman walking thru routes, working on over the shoulder catches... No jogging or running tho #RavensTalk

Sorry, i guess that was wishful thinking.

But Hensley did report that he was seen in a walking boot during a Eagles practices.  I believe that was the same day that he reported that Perriman had a PCL sprain.
