[News] Steve Smith Sr. Has Unsportsmanlike Rule Memorized

23 posts in this topic

He has this wonderful expression of a naughty child that knows the parents know, but also knows he's getting away with it :D I love the guy. For how he plays, for how he stands up for his team mates and for how he manages to make each game entertaining and provides us with highlights we like to watch over and over (except for the incident after the dirty tackle on Aiken, because all reruns show the tackle and it makes me cringe every time).

Does anyone know if Robinson #52 from the Redskins was fined for that pile driver on Aiken? If not...what a crock.

A fine is the least of it - he should have been suspended.  To pile-drive someone into the turf is inexcusable and being a pre-season game doesn't matter.  Every time I see that tape, I am relieved and surprised to see Kamar get up and walk away.  Smith's actions were nothing to justify a fine, especially compared to that.  I hope the FO has sent in tape and is complaining loudly about the incident.

Are you kidding me that a fine for SSS is the only headline on ESPN? ESPN makes no mention of any fine to Robinson, the pile driving, banned, dangerous tackle which could have easily snapped Aiken's neck in 2. Headline is how SSS is appealing his fine for fighting, nothing about Robinson's fine. Sure, I get it that SSS is the mega star and will get all the attention. It's about time some attention was focused on the malicious tackle and have the media blast Robinson's conduct which was 1,000 x worse than the resulting shoving match. All I can say is that Robinson's fine had better be a zillion times more expensive than Steve's and there needs to be a suspension for Robinson, on top of a hefty fine.

I like SSS. His feistiness is part of what I like in him. To me he has been a Raven ever since he joined the league. He was just in the wrong uniform.

Nothing will happen to him until he kills someone cause thats the way the NFL way.

If anyone has the ability to find out what, if any fine and/or suspension Robinson received for his pile drive illegal tackle that is the cause of the entire melee which followed, please post what you find out. I can't believe the NFL would see this tape and fail to uphold their own player safety rules. It is a miracle Aiken was not severely injured.

I don't understand why the guy who dumped Aiken on his head didn't even draw a flag. I guarantee you I would have tossed that dirty so and so. The NFL throws a fit if anyone breathes on Tom Brady, but Aiken could have been paralyzed and they do nothing. The Ravens were right to be outraged. The refs should be ashamed of themselves for letting that go.

So, there is no word from the NFL on Keenan Robinson yet? Is the NFL investigating Keenan Robinson's pile drive on Aiken's head or are they letting it slide? I cannot see how the NFL would let that one slide. It was an obvious attempt to maim Aiken.

I saw nothing funny about SSS's ejection from the game and his personal foul penalty. He probably plays with more emotion than any other NFL player that comes to my mind. But, this was far from his first PFP. Every one hurts his team. I really wish that he could continue to play with his extreme level of emotion but, also, know that when the play is over, the play is over. The Ravens have been hurt by penalties WAY too much. They kill drives for us. They extend drives that would have been stopped for our opponents. We can't afford to continue to amass penalties as much as we always seem to. Please, Steve, be the leader that you, obviously, are and lead in this area as well. Please learn to maintain self control without giving up any of your passion that you play with. It IS possible and it would Greatly help this team.

i didn't understand the ejection at all. there were other players though that would have meet the definition of being tossed.

First of all, let me say unequivocally that I thought the tackle on Aiken was dirty, way dirty, and that Aiken's teammates Should have come to his defense. I have NO problem with that. But, really, I think that Steve's ejection stemmed from the fact that he just continued and continued his confrontation with his opponent in the scuffle. Their fight was the very last one that the refs, coaches, and other players were able to stop. I think that played a big role in Steve's ejection. I admit that I don't recall who he was squared off with and whether he, also, was ejected. But, I do agree with you that others, especially the tackler (and Steve's fighting opponent, if he wasn't) deserved to be ejected as well. I'd, actually, like to see a replay of it because, I could be wrong, but I think Steve might have even pushed other players besides the one he really got tangled up with for so long. As much as I love SSS, I do think he went overboard and I would have to say that I think he deserved the ejection. Now go ahead and neg me. I can take it. That's just the way I saw and remember it.

The ejection was a way to gain control of the game and let people know it wont be tolerated. It only happened because it was preseason and no way any ref would have the cajunas to eject Smith during the regular season for a shoving match with Culliver. And poor Culliver, he got ejected because he was drug around the field by Smith. So, it was what it was, but it was a preseason call.

deserved the ejection ? Wow , I have never seen anyone get ejected for pushing and shoving someone off of them, and I definitely have seen many players get away with far worse. Anybody other than SSS would have remained in the game and not been fined.

Smith Senior is the man. He always shouldve been in a Ravens jersey, he fits in perfectly around here. I love that interview, always great when reporters with dumb questions get checked.
