[News] Charles James' Best 'Hard Knocks' Moments

27 posts in this topic

James then packed up for Baltimore, bringing his funny sucks along for the ride.

Socks are what you pack. Sucks is what you and or your editor do. I'd love to work as your editor...probably would catch socks and suck a lot faster.

Is it just me or does that look like John Elway under that helmet??? Maybe that's the plan - PeyPey (best regular season QB in history) QBs Denver to the playoffs then the ol' gun slinger comes out of the box and slips into that #18 for a playoff run...you know Kubiak would be on board with his old starting QB to take the reigns agian hahaha

Garrett, you need to correct last sentence...it says 'sucks' where I'm sure you meant 'socks'. I'm sure the Mom Gene will catch it and fix it for you and maybe even give you some warning points.......

We need some of that...  I hope to see him on the 53 soon... Maybe.  Just not because someone else got hurt, but because he showed us that much good stuff.

He is such an endearing personality. We lost Jacoby another one of those, but replaced him with another - Charles James II

That's exactly what I was thinking throughout this series of Hard Knocks. I was hoping he would get cut from the Texans after about episode 2 or 3 in the hope that he would have caught our eye. Thankfully that happened.

Hey, you need to be nice.... I'd fix it, but I would never do something like that.

Seems like another undeniably likable, endearing, entertaining kind of player so easy to root for and become fond of. Charles James seems to have a lot of potential and he will reach it with the Ravens. Charles, just ask Forsett and SSS how Baltimore feels about believing in guys who are 5'9". Welcome to the Ravens.

Ummm, he was both in the preseason for Houston.  The article and the video's explain how and why to both positions.

Texans Head Coach Bill O’Brien saw enough potential in James that they wanted to give him a chance to play both sides of the football. O’Brien talked with Texans General Manger Rick Smith about giving James some snaps at running back to see what he could do, and the next day they gave it a shot. James surprised some people with how quickly he picked up the position

HaHaHaHa!!!! He tried to throw it to J.J. Watt on the goal line and throws a pick six to lose the game. I still love this guy though, great personality. Welcome to Baltimore CJ the second!

Cutting someone because of their size and not their talent or what they've shown you on the field seems pretty narrow minded. Brandon Flowers is 5'9 and he's a top 10 CB in the NFL. Not saying James will ever be that good but there are plenty of corners his size who have been good role players as well. One man's trash is another man's treasure, wouldn't be surprised at all if James get's on the active roster sooner rather than later.

I want to see how well he does on kick returns. How much yardage he gains. Refuses to be tackled on the two yard line. Doesn't fall all over himself in front of the kicker. If he does well, then I'll look at his socks.

I first heard of him after he tweeted joining Ravens, but I can see why he is a fan favorite and will gladly join the bandwagon.

PS: He can join the "So you think I'm too short?!" team we have going on here with Steve Smith Sr and Justin Forsett and see what they have to say about that. It's not about the size ;)

They cut him because he is "only" 5'9" and not tall enough. I seem to recall a HOF corner by the name of Darrell Green who is only 5'9", and he is still widely considered to be one of the best there ever was. Maybe some day people will learn to look beyond the obvious to what really makes someone truly special.

I hate the fact that the Ravens passed on a 5'9 Brandon Flowers when he became available last year and perhaps passed on a trip to the super bowl. Brown and Asa Jackson and oh my god I don't even want to remember...

i think that many are making more of the size thing than really matters. Look, the team needed to make a choice, they said they loved him and they had a hard time making a decision on it. They looked across the division that they play in and they have a LOT of big guys. It doesnt mean that he cant per se, just means that a slightly taller guy will "likely" do better, and based on probability and odds, that is true. Stop making this purely about ignorance. they made what they felt was the better decision, big deal. He is with the Ravens now. And with that huge Chip on his shoulders now,he is at least 5'11". Good for us!

I think we were interested and he just chose SD over us, from what I recall it was reported that we expressed interest. Either way it was a shame for both the Ravens and Flowers. We missed out on having the best CB tandem in the NFL and he missed out on what was likely a SB trip.

I don't give a good crap about his tv career. What I want to know is can he play football, good enough to be on the field for the Ravens? Typically a guy who can't settle for one position is not good enough at any. I think I read about him being "a number 3 corner". Seriously? We need a number 3 corner? Maybe it is just me, but I don't see where that is something to brag about.

Its not about his size but his smart play.  SSS and JF are the prime examples.  I think he will be called up this season.

Fastynart - Do you not watch football? #3 corners are basically starters these days. Nickel & Dime backs are in the game 60-70% of the time these days.
