[News] Takeaways From Ravens 2015 Season-Opening Depth Chart

24 posts in this topic

I wouldn't be surprised if Webb is ONLY starting b/c Melvin hasn't practiced in almost 2 weeks.

Glad to see KLM finally made his way onto the 53 and will contribute.  Way to grind it out young man.

Does the depth chart automatically indicate who is starting week one, or is that a long-term depth-chart with starters potentially varying week-to-week based on the playbook?

Super question! I'm sure many of our members wonder. It is my impression that the depth chart is just "expected" starters but they can vary from week to week. I don't even think there's anything "official" about a depth chart.

Kapron Lewis Moore will get stronger and better with each game. He had accumulated too much rust sitting down for 2 full years prior to being injured in college. We knew when we drafted him that he had great potential and I believe he'll start showing us he is a great addition to our rotation. I am very confident in our D-line strength. I just hope stopping the run is emphasized enough so we continue to be a dominant run stopping team.

I feel this way too. I think as the season progresses, he shows the promise of before his injury and becomes a key contributor.

Glad to see KLM finally healthy. I hope he has a great season, he deserves it after coming back from two season ending injuries.

possibly , but either way he will be on a very short leash, and they won't hesitate to bench him and play Melvin if he struggles early.

That's if Melvin is cleared to play, he hasn't practiced in awhile.

Banged up secondary, banged up D line....... Somewhere Peyton has a huge smile on his face

he's definitely not smiling about starting the season against baltimore. We are a feared team , and I think he's a little concerned about his own offensive line. Cinci made him look pretty ugly and I think if we can keep him on his back he will start rushing throws and makin bad decisions. We just can't let him dink and dunk his way down the feild , which him and Brady seem to do very well against us. Peyton has been really struggling with throwing the deep ball , so if pees stops letting our guys play freakin 10 yards off the receivers I think we can really frustrate him and win this game on both sides of the ball. That depth chart hardly has any surprises. Harbs is real old school; seniority means a lot in his book, and your draft position also counts. Those are the levelheaded decisions that make them the No-Drama-Ravens.

Webb will be tested. You have to know that Manning is going to target him. They will also likely do a lot of criss-crossing of receivers (trying to get rubs) and get D. Thomas freed up and away from Smith.

I think they'll want to mix things up and force safeties to really do their job. We've not been very good over the past couple years with having corners release their man to the safeties and have the safeties pick up the coverage.

I liked what I saw from Lewis-Moore and I'm glad he's gotten another chance and made the most of it. I look for him to make some plays. We'll need a lot of plays from our defense if we're going to take Denver down. Our secondary might be the key in getting wins over some of the great QB's the AFC has. I'm giving us a chance, sure, but we have to stay healthy and make plays back there. You need a great QB to win in the NFL consistently, but Defensive Secondary is just as vital, to me. Time will tell.

Hope the Ravens give him the most horrible game of his career they Ravens have finished hall of famers careers before the can do it again. Also make sure that kubiak regrets leaving Baltimore. Kick some Broncos butt!! Go RAVENS!!!

great to have Webb back, he has been training for this game. a few practices to shake the "cob-webbs" off and he is ready to play some shut own corner. The key is the pressure...Suggs and Doom need to put it on Manning. He cant run like other QB's make him move and release early! the hands and speed are there to get the picks. Stuff the run and make manning pay. Good ole Ravens football! As far a Aiken...its his time to step up and shine. We have many weapons, Joe will get his chances...its time for the offense to move the ball on this suspect Denver D.

Like you, I hope we can get pressure on Manning. But, Manning's arm strength continues to decline so I suspect he won't be going down-field too often. I think he's going to run a lot of quick release passes, three step drops, and the like to avoid our rush. I think he has to do that, also, because his OL isn't the greatest either. So, I don't know how much opportunity Suggs and Doom are going to get to do their thing. Manning, I think, is going to take a page out of the Cheatriots game plan against us last year. We shall see.
