[News] Ravens Place Brent Urban On IR-Designated For Return, Sign RB Terrence Magee

Nice to know that the R's will be getting back some depth along the D line late in the season. It's anyone's guess re: health issues of the D linemen and he should be fresh and ready to go. And Perriman?

Totally expected move. But the question is how do we sign Charles James now that the PS is full?

He's currently showing up on the practice squad roster.

Expected this to happen. I think that Magee looked considerable better than Allen. I knew we'd keep Allen, though, because he was a draft choice and Magee wasn't. Buck Allen showed me pretty much nothing to warrant his 4th rd selection. I sure hope he looked better in practices than he did in the preseason games. The coaches see them all the time. We don't. But, it's really a shame that a player can play so much better than another one but the other one stays because he was drafted.

He's officially signed - TE Konrad Reuland got cut to make place for him.

Brent urban is a beast; is this stating that he will be back soon?

Week#10 the earliest, per IR/DTR rules.

Ah, feels good to be right :) I think he's a good choice and am looking forward to seeing him show what he can do.

Seeing that Magee is a running he should have some moves when it comes to returning the ball!!!

Dunno, but I always find it unnerving when the K/P returner is a player of a position where catching long passes isn't part of the normal routine. RB's don't have to catch long passes, therefore they are usually less experienced in it than WR's and CB's whose prime business is often long balls.

No wonder most return specialists are either WR's or CB's, maybe safeties.

So we all ended up around where we'd expect to be ... Magee on the roster and James on the PS. It just took 24 hours longer than anticipated.

I don't understand why we needed to wait until today to put Urban on the IR DFR. Other teams put guys on the IR DFR yesterday. Who knows ... this stuff is like tax law sometimes.

I might be mistaken but didn't we put Suggs on the IRDR and then when we took him off we immediately put Ray on it.

Not quite. Suggs was hurt before camp started, so he was on PUP.

The smartest possible move at the moment is to let Magee be the KR/PR man while we utilize the injury-prone Campanaro at slot WR. That's why keeping Asa Jackson as the primary KR/PR would have been smart. In case of an injury, he would have been disposable, but we cannot afford to lose Camp or Magee.

I originally questioned whether using the return designation on urban was a smart move, (seeing as how it can only be used once and cannot be changed) but after some thought I think it was the right move. We are def going to need that depth in the trenches down the stretch in December , the coaches have been really high on urban so he will provide a little spark to the group at a crucial time, ESP if we are banged up. Same can be said about a lot of different positions, but the trenches are particularly important come December playing afc north football, and the ravens d line is arguably the hear and soul of the team during that time.

At this point, you just have to hope nobody more vital/important gets an injury that will take longer than a few weeks at most (well, outside of hoping nobody gets hurt at all).  If an important player goes down for 2 months, we will just have to carry that player on the roster
