definitely wouldn't consider manning average at best. Maybe in terms of mobility or durability but his knowledge of the game and quick release is something that is second to none.

Perhaps. The last 10 or so games counting preseason has just soured many of us. The declination of his abilities is tangible.

I strongly dislike the wait of late games and the Ravens only have 2 1pm games over the first 7 weeks. The schedule makers suck.

Good for me bc obviously whoever made my daughter's soccer schedule doesn't like NFL football. All of her games start between 1-3pm on Sundays.

No it's not, but Lewis is a pretty decent safety. Unlike Huff was. Makes things just that much harder.

if we happened to sign and start another safety as bad as michael huff, then the front office should start playing the lottery because theyre hitting 1-in-a-million type players.

even if kendrick lewis is the 32nd ranked free safety in the league this year, he will still likely be 10x as good as huff was in his short stint here. he was bad on levels that i didnt know were reachable for professional veterans

A good comparison would probably be Zuttah and Gino. Zuttah isn't perfect as he has had some struggles against the Steelers in particular and there are a good chunk of people curious to see Urschel at Center in the future. Still though, he is miles ahead of Gino and him being on the O-line as opposed to Gino made a big difference for us.

Granted Huff only played 1 game and wasn't on the team last year so it doesn't mean that Lewis will fix all our problems but you get where I am going. Overall with Lewis, if he can perform as an average FS and let Hill do his thing underneath I will be pretty happy.

even if not injured. If a player doesn't practice they have to put it on the injury report. They were listed as NIR. And "probable" is the highest game day status.

Not Injured Really ?

Heads up, from this point on our defense will be known as "the Birdcage". Calling it.

I'd prefer to see us making comparisons to Darian Stewart That's who Lewis needs to be an upgrade over. I know we're bringing up Huff, because his one and only game was the Mile High Massacre. But Stewart is the one we told to walk in favor of bringing Lewis in. That's who Lewis needs to out-perform. A harder task than outplaying Huff, but please, Stewart was a sub-par option and we need an improvement.

So, the weekend storyline on that front is ... guess who the Broncos starting free safety is: Answer: Darian Stewart. The Denver Post is saying, "its personal" playing the Ravens. They also said "The Ravens moved on from Stewart last season despite his strong finish in the playoffs.". Well, I'd characterize it as, he didn't stink it up in the playoffs the way he did through the majority of the season.

Jimmy stopped short of personally calling him out last year for not picking up receivers deep that Smith would release into zone. Really wish we had a true deep threat in this game, because I think we could expose him. Hopefully, we still can.

Do they actually have a "definitely will play" status? I don't think so. Probable is the highest chance to play status, so if you have an injury, even if it's like a toe stub, you'll get that if you're going to play.

right but I would think they wouldn't be listed at all since it was non injury related. And also I'm pretty sure they did practice on Friday. Not that it really matters bc they will definitely be playing, I was just curious why they would be listed as probable just for getting a veteran day off on Thursday. Edited by January J

I'm down with it.

More of a Sunday Ticket guy myself.

I can't stand just watching highlights or snippets of a game. As a football fan i actually get to enjoy watching the "game" when I'm watching other teams more so then the Ravens. With the Ravens i'm so emotionally invested that i'm complaining about the refs, or the play calling or the performance of the team or just wrapped up in the ebbs and flow of wanting your favorite team and players to do well. For me i get to enjoy the games so much more when i can eliminate the emotions of if the Ravens will win or not. So i do watch the early games but it still doesn't help the anticipation of what the Ravens will do.

Or if there's no good games on I'll watch a movie like Gladiator, The Program, Remember the Titans 300 or Any Given Sunday. Those are typically my go to movies on game day.

Until the first loss.

Meaning the season might be over tomorrow. Then we shall commence with the hiring and the firing and criticizing our GM. And then people will say, "we picked the wrong QB".

Please win

Yeah Stewart is a much better comparison, Don't know if Lewis will be the guy we have been searching for at FS(quite an underrated weakness on defense the past couple years), can't be as optimistic now that we have missed on 2 FA FS in a row, but I am curious to see how he does as he(and possibly Brooks if he can do well) is a key to the defense.

No knock to Lewis because i haven't seen enough of him to say how good he will or won't be. But i think he's just keeping the seat warm for Brooks and unless Lewis just balls out at an pro bowl level, i see Brooks taking over that position permanently around Week 10.

Weren't we playing all 3 of our safeties towards the end of the year last year? Kinda figure all 3 will get their playing time

When we're not playing, the Red Zone is my go to channel. Just my preference though. I enjoy watching the snippets of all of the games without having to change the channel. It's also great that there's no commercials. As far as the rest of your comments are concerned, that is EXACTLY HOW I FEEL! There's nothing more to add to what you said. You said it perfectly.

Red Zone is the way to go. You get to see all the scoring oppurtunities and if its not a redzone TD you get an immediate replay.

Well remember it was a bit of a necessity with the lack of available CBs. I do think we'll see a lot of 3 safety looks, that's why i said Brooks would take that position permanently. I think Lewis would still have an rotational role.

True, maybe Arrington being in the slot makes that type of difference. I liked Brooks quite a bit pre-draft, I do want to see him out there again though before I get too excited as FS is a challenging position. Serious lack of good safeties coming out of college right now although I did like the range Brooks had.
