[News] Ravens Sign Three More To Practice Squad

99 posts in this topic

Charles James is on the 53? I need confirmation.

Have you read that somewhere? I haven't even read that Urban was officially put on the IR/DTR list, and no-one can be signed to the 53-man roster before that happens.

Hard to say because the article above says that Konrad Rueland is on the Practice Squad.

If you look at the "current" 53 Man Roster ? Rueland is listed on there as #86/TE.

 pure spec lol

I see. I would think Ross has bigger chance to go on the active roster, if he proves to be a good enough return specialist... IMHO we need that more than one more CB.

I think the roster page isn't always 100% accurate right away. I remember Suggs was still on the PUP-list on our roster page 2 weeks after he was activated a few seasons back :)

Edit: Nick Easton is also still on the roster page, so I guess it's just not perfectly correct ;)

Maybe we will see. I think the coaches have faith in Camp to be a special PR and James could return Kicks, be a better CB than Melvin or Walker and also teach him a few RB plays just in case we need him there..

Regardless......I like the Jeremy Ross addition. He could possibly be on the Active Roster , this coming Sunday. He's a decent KO/Punt Returner.

Yeah, highly unusual, but sometimes there are changes within a week of being signed so, stay tuned.

It's an unfortunate scenario that we do not have an awesome return-man, yet or a proven 'Good' one yet. I know a lot of people here are saying that too much emphasis is being put on the position. You know what that means to me? I think people are saying that because we no longer have one of the great ones at the position (Jacoby Jones). He was terrific at getting 20 or more yards and breaking it all the way a good bit of the time too. So, I'm thinking we shouldn't de-value the position simply because we lost a great one. Good field position is about as important as anything, save maybe turnovers. Hopefully we will come up with someone who is skilled and can get us that great starting field position. But, I don't think de-valuing the position is in our best interest. It's simple, we lost JJ because he couldn't catch very well and we didn't want to keep a higher priced guy just as a return man, which he was great at, on the whole.

We can find another great one, though it might not be right away. Keep the Faith Ravens Nation!

Exactly - I'm more than sure that come Week#1 we will have players we do not yet have, and no longer have some of the players we currently do...

On another report page it is reported that Charles james is coming to Baltimore.

Could be. We can kick any player from the PS any time in a second if he have a better one to replace him...

Campinaro is the guy we had planned on all along. He had a couple really good returns last year, and this year he was supposed to step up and take ALL the returns. If he can stay healthy we will see how good he really is. Now with the addition of Jeremy Ross, we have a back up, Ross is about the equal to Camp with more NFL experience at returns.

Ross is great choice in case Campy goes lame again

That's what I was thinking, stash a returner on the PS in case we need someone in a hurry.

Pitta hasn't been guaranteed any return at all.....hasn't even been cleared by any doctors to possibly return.

We'll just have to see what the FO and Coaches come up with. Before Ross' arrival? I'd have said Campanaro would be the Returner. Nothing like an "Imaginary Crapshoot".....LOL

With Pitta scheduled to return in 6 weeks, it sure seems like a wasted spot.

In reality nobody knows when - or even if - Pitta can return...

Don't count on it. Gillmore & Maxx are our TE's. Still have Boyle too.

Kick returner Ross to 53 squad...Charles James to PS.....no confusion at all.

Yes, that would be crystal clear ... if it were officially stated. I'm not seeing any information to support that.

So what happens with McGee? Does Ross get activated to the 53 and McGee takes his spot on the PS or will McGee go to the 53? Nice additions though. I like the addition of the TE from Denver prior to the first regular season game too. Nice to collect some valuable intel!

However, in lieu of 3 WRs on the PS I would have liked to see at least one additional CB like Pointer to have made it. But, I have faith in our front office's decision making a whole lot more that I do in my own deductive ability!

If you mean Charles James, CB from the Texans - apparently not.

Another indication why we shouldn't take the truth value of any news for granted until the official announcement.

I usually take news for granted when it is found on some tweet or some blog, but when both br.com and the Sun announce it, then I assume they know it is official.

However, something isn't adding up, so we'll have to wait and see what is perception and what is reality.

I agree here! Additionally, finding an exceptional return man is as rare as finding an exceptional CB or WR, and very valuable.
