[News] Ravens Undrafted Rookie Trend In Jeopardy

20 posts in this topic

My guess is that Magee didn't do bad at all and could still be of value as a returner as well as back-up RB and as they didn't sign him on the practice squad, they could sign him once they move the injured guys to IR. Or, that's who I would go for of all the cuts recently, both due to returner potential and added depth to where we could use it right now.

It's a nice statistic but I don't honestly care; as long as the 53 players are our best players then that is what matters to me.

Magee seems to be the most likely player to make the 53 of any of the undrafted rookies due to the injury situation. Will see soon enough.

It's more refreshing that they're bucking the trend. Don't get me wrong, giving undrafted guys a shot and developing them into contributors is a major sign of front office competence. But not doing so one year shows that we don't let our collective ego or desire to maintain a reputation as a wise club get in the way of building the best team possible.

Keeping that streak alive may have cost us the division and a super bowl last year! There were great options at OG and OT that the Ravens didn't make. just sayin.

And I wholeheartedly agree with you, but the streak did tell promising UDFAs that had options with other teams that Baltimore was a team where they had a real chance of making the 53 and not be just another ignored camp-body.

11 out of 12 years doing so is still an impressive stat. Magee has the best chance but IMO the FO would rather have an experienced RB but I cold be wrong.

Well Fitz is on the Steelers' practice squad, so the Ravens would have to add him to the main roster if they want him.

I say go for it. He looked great on ST.

?

o-line was a strength last season.

what should they have done regarding those positions?

This "trend" is of no importance. If this crop of UDFA's was not good enough to give us a surprise guy, then it wasn't. You can't always win - even Ozzie can't ;) It's a testament to his extraordinary talent evaluation abilities that an UDFA-crop without a surprise gem is newsworthy :)

Last Year the O line was hurt. The last 4 weeks of the season the Ravens lost 3/4 and almost missed the playoffs. The Ravens  could have picked up veteran help prior to the season, there were 2 available Guards and a Guard/ Tackle out of New Orleans they passed on. Then they kept Tallifero and Urshal.  I know that they ended up to be good players however any additional win in the end would have won the division. Just stating some points that not always do we need to keep a streak of this type at the forefront of needs.

1. The Ravens didn't lose 3/4 the last four games of the season... they WON 3/4.

2. Which game in particular do you think the Ravens would have won had they had a veteran offensive lineman over the guys we had last season that would have led to a division title?

While its obvious the Oline wasn't as good as it could have been at the end of the season, I don't recall any games at the end of the season that I felt we lost mostly because of the Oline.

Terrence Magee's Signing.... keeps "The Streak" alive ! I'd think that it is a "given" that Magee will be on the Active 53 Roster come Sunday. He should be the 3rd RB and a candidate for KR.
