Week One Discussion (Other Teams)

I only saw kaep target him once. It was for like a 10 yard gain. Definitely looks like they are a run first team and using him more as a decoy than a weapon. It's kind of a shame really.

It will be the easiest $40 million ever made.

Carlos is giving them a Hydeing, ill get my coat

The door is right next to the coat rack...

I knew he was going to be this good. Now if they could just get a legit QB, secondary, defense, and another two LBs they'd be golden.

Don't underestimate the New York media, just don't. Should also bring up the terrible job the FO did at bringing in talent. Can't say that team won't fall apart in a couple years but at the same time, I don't see it happening right now and the players loved Rex, even in New York when things got bad.

Players loving Rex Ryan and Rex Ryan being a good coach with excellent team chemistry are different. Who's to say Rex didn't play a large part in bringing in that same talent? What's obvious is the toxic atmosphere, circus storylines, and terrible performance.

Also Harvin isn't exactly a guy who brought the whole team down, he wasn't the reason Minnesota lost games(Lets have a Ponder about that one) and Seattle won a Super Bowl with him. He wasn't the reason for success either but it is hard to say that his antics brought everyone else down.

He wasn't the reason Minnesota lost and, yes, he helped the Seahawks win but both of those teams decided to let him go for relatively small amounts. His antics apparently pissed off the right people to earn him a trip out of two towns.

Also, the only big distraction from McCoy may have been about Chip Kelly and while I don't agree with that, he isn't the only player to bring it up.

He's just one example. There will be more, it's only been 8 months. Forgot to mention Aaron Kromer.

If you want to poke holes in the Bills, I would look at Tyrod needing to make the big time throw at some point, that is their biggest question mark as I would imagine teams will stack the box and make Tyrod beat them from the pocket.

There are questions about Tyrod like any unproven QB but I've got more questions about Rex Ryan's second time on the carousel.

Maybe the fact that he was so outspoken about wanting a CB last year while the Jets brought no one into that role and their secondary(and in reflection the defense as a whole since Rex needs good corners to let him do his thing with blitzes, don't know why he wouldn't add any if he had more control) underperformed.

Sure, but they didn't cause this massive loss in chemistry that takes them down in the span of a few weeks did they?

If you want to go after personnel, what about the Ravens security director last year? How much did that impact things? Should also mention the Bills suspended him for 6 games. Don't see how Kromer's actions are a reflection on Ryan.

I do too over time but for this year at least barring a major meltdown, I don't think he is the problem. He took the Jets to 2 AFC Championship games his first 2 years of coaching and Buddy Ryan had success his first couple years as well. I think that trend continues with the Bills as they really needed the attitude change. I am not going out of my way to say Ryan is this perfect coach with no faults and the Ravens should have taken him over Harbs(Harbs is the best coach we have ever had, it isn't even hard to pick between him and Ryan). I do think that Ryan and the Bills are a good match for now as the Bills defense gives him many more opportunities than he had with the Jets and that run first offense is potent as well. Their biggest question for me is Tyrod winning from the pocket as he is going to need to at some point in the year.

The Jets brought in a lot of corners and drafted 3 DBs - LINK. I don't recall Rex Ryan being outspoken for a corner?

I might have pulled this out of context, not sure who 'they' is but, no, the collapse of the Jets wasn't over a few weeks. It had been building for a long time due to either organizational negligence or promotion of that environment.

You could go after Darren Sanders if you'd like. People have. People also went after Ray Rice, Jah Reid, Terrence Cody, etc. Kromer reflects on Ryan because he is Ryan's employee and Rex Ryan, being the head coach, assumes responsibility. Right or wrong, fair or not, that's what the position entails. Harbaugh, too, was criticized for his players' misconduct.

Ryan's AFC Championship Jets teams were 5-6 years ago. Look at the drop since then. What's the common thread in that decline? All those controversies and stupidity? Rex could make it work for a year or two, sure (I picked them to beat the Colts and think they have a fighting chance in the conference) but I don't have confidence long-term. I think it goes down in flames. Only time will tell.

Listened to Jeff fisher on rich eisen. He was quite feisty for a coach. Basically said carrolls excuse of the onside kick being a botched kick to avoid Austin was bs. The guy hasn't returned a kick in a year and a half.

He also said there's not plans to pile on the skins by having all the guys aquired in the RG trade parade out for the coin toss and troll them. That was classic.

I like Jeff Fisher in these instances, though I feel he is overrated. Pete Carroll lies through his teeth with every word he says. He made a stupid decision and blames it on the kicker lol.

Yeah. That's a bad look for carol to me. Harbaugh would never lose respect like that. He also doesn't make those agregious coaching errors.

Fisher I think is a very good head coach who has made some poor choices for coordinators. Particularly offense which is part of it.
