[News] 2015 Ravens Practice Squad Signings

75 posts in this topic

Losing Myers, aka "Quadzilla", raises some eyebrows. Were he a 7th rounder or UDFA, no big deal, but the Ravens thought enough of him to take him in the 5th. Hope this is an indication of significant depth on the OL, because there is an injury history there (Monroe, KO, Wagner) and, looking ahead, question marks as to whether Yanda or KO will be re-signed.

I thought the whole hype early this recent offseason of us getting our CB's squad back healthy was the whole point. Right when we get Asa Jackson back and he is playing harder, they release him?

After watching Asa play this pre-season, my opinion is, and just my opinion, is that Asa has proved to be more of a liability than an asset...... He had so many chances to break free and come up with huge plays for us, and squandered just about all of them. Maybe he just needs a new start elsewhere..... But I was a big fan of his in the last couple of years, and I'm not upset that he was cut....that tells me they needed to move on.

Ozzie and the coaches do a much better job than I could ever hope to do. That said, I am smh over Asa Jackson. How do you cut a returner who may fumble and keep a receiver who can't stay healthy?

fumbles can cost you games.

injured players usually dont suit up so they cant ruin a game for you.

not to mention that injured guy actually showed potential unlike Asa who was suspended , injured and bad in his time here.

And what makes you think he won't make all the mistakes that he did in Baltimore? What makes you think he'll only bring his upside to New York?

Would suck if he again forgot to get approval for his Adderall and got suspended for awhile, or fumbles a return that cost them a game. I would add giving a wr an 8-10 yard cushion but I already know that's gonna happen often.

bioLarzen- And what makes you think he won't live up to his obvious skill set? He was one of the few who would consistently be around the ball and looked like he knew what he was doing. There's a reason he was one of the first ones claimed(if not the first)and there's no doubt he'll(if healthy)make the Giants very happy they took a flyer on him. Let's stay in touch on this one. OK?

I've heard everyone loves this Charles James guy but I didn't watch Hard Knocks and know nothing about him. Can anybody give me a run down on his hype and what made him a favorite on the show?

Your still judging him as a returner though. Im talking about him as a CB. Some of you guys really don't know how hard it is to be a kick returner. That's probably the most brutal job in the NFL.

Yes, I am partly judging him as a returner, as were the coaches, but his defensive play was still less than that of the other players that made the final cuts....... Plus, his ability to stay healthy, and "suspension-free" from the league is another possible liability for the team. As a player, he has been given many opportunities here in the last three years, I think his time just ran out.

Imagine Asa telling Harbs "fumbles are a part of football" after he got stripped. Harbs would've cut him there on the spot lol. While that sentiment is true, it's not an excuse for a guy who is on the bubble and needs to prove he can play mistake free football to make the team. That's the reality of being a bubble player in an NFL training camp, everything you do is under a microscope and if you turn the ball over and make additional mistakes like failing to call for a fair catch it's going to get you in the dog house with the coaches. Those are the breaks.

A good question is if Asa volunteered for punt returner

Glad we keep Renner! Good prospect!

I like him too.  He did play against third stringers but those guys want a job too.
