Just ir dtr urban and bring James on the 53 as CD depth and a returner

We've never seen him return a kick. From what I hear the ONLY kick he ever fielded ended up being fumbled by him.

Zrebiec says James is still practice squad bound.

Maybe we're just keeping Dominique Jones around for a couple of days to pick his brain about the Broncos?

I can't see him back that soon with that injury, but it depends on how he heals i guess. The 5th game is mid October, that would be like 90 days since Urban was hurt. That's a quick turnover.

Are you sure it is 90 days? I thought this was a 6-8 week injury recovery schedule. If it were 90 days ago, he would potentially be ready already I think. Also, the extent of the biceps tear is unknown and the location of it too. So, it could be a partial tear and recovery times could be less. I am just thinking aloud right now with nothing but speculative thoughts!

On the bright side, last year Ross had a higher return average than Devin Hester. I think we have a better ST than the lions. I'm rethinking this signing. Might be better than I thought.

Now Week 5 would be about 90 days since his injury. Injured in August and back by October would be a quick turnaround.

Ross became the return man for the Detroit Lions last year. He averaged 25.4 yards on kick returns and 8.9 yards on punt returns. He finished with 23 kick returns for 584 yards and 32 punt returns for 284 yards. He didn’t return any for a touchdown, and was ranked No. 31 by Pro Football Focus (PFF) among kick returners, and No. 61 as a punt returner.

Not happy with this signing based off the stats. We should've just signed Raheem Mostert off of the Eagles PS. Or.....Trade for C.Patterson....

He had a down year last year but in 2013  after being promoted to active roster from The Lions practice squad  he had 15 kick returns  for 430 yards averaging  29.3 yards per kick return and had 15 punt returns for 243 yards averaging 16.2 yards per punt return. He might not be  Jacoby Jones but he definitely has a solid resume as a kick/punt returner and to top off he has starting experience as number 3 wideout.

I re-assessed the signing. I'm pretty satisfied. Glad we got a returner. He should play in week 1 Edited by Cillmatic

Jeremy Ross? Wasn't Jacoby a bad return man as well? Only becoming good when he came here? Just curious

I don't know what Jacoby was like as a returner overall, but he sure fumbled away any hope of HOU beating us in the playoffs the year before we picked him up. Texans fans cursed his name after that and bade him good riddance when we picked him up.

They had to be fuming when they watched him play a critical role in bringing us a Super Bowl.

Interested to see if Jeremy Ross is on return duty week 1. I really don't think it's wise to put Campanaro on returns this week, besides the injury risk I want his focus to be 100% on offense for now. Camp looked phenomenal in TC and his limited preseason action so let's not overwhelm right out of the gate.

Ross could focus 100% of his energy into returns so I think that's the way to go, the active WR's won't get tricky until Perriman comes back. With Ross and no Perriman that makes 6 WR's, Waller could be a game day inactive making 5 WR's active week 1 including Ross.

Oddly, according to the NFL Transaction Report, Jeremy Ross, Konrad Reuland (and Charles James) are not offiially on the practice squad:

We'll see what happens tomorrow. Would think everything is straightened out by practice (I imagine they want to get these guys on the field ASAP).

McGee added to active roster after Urban placed on IRDR. That begs the question what happens with Charles James because the PS is still full?

Just announced per Ravens twitter ; Urban placed on IR-DTR and Magee signed.

Where is Aaron Wilson, i mean rmw10 lol he's slipping on the twiiter updates lol.

With Mcgee back in the fold, that still leaves James sitting at the Castle but unable to practice because he's not officially signed. Did Ozzie and Harbs spend some time in NE this offseason and find a way to fit an 11th guy on the PS?

someone on the PS is getting cut.  I'm guessing it's going to be one of the TEs.

Things now make sense with Magee. We didn't want to sign him to the PS because when we promoted him to the 53 it would mean we would've had to carry him for 3 weeks. Now we could cut him without much impact and potentially re-sign him to the PS if and when he clears waivers. Good move imo.

Yea probably. My the Dominique Jones guy really is just here to give some insight on exactly how Kubes and Peyton are working together. Would suck for him if he was just signed for that reason but that's part of the game.

Also shoutout to Magee for taking it to the max every practice and keeping the UDFA streak alive. No doubt that streak plays a huge role in the Ravens being able to get the young hiys they want after the draft and even PS guys wanting to come here. It's a powerful thing just knowing you have a legit shot.

So with McGee's addition we have 2 options at KR - Campanaro and McGee.

I guess that keeps camp from having to return kicks, although mcgees kick returns were just average.

Based on having to return kicks perhaps once every 4-5 kickoffs, average is good enough I suppose. With all the touchbacks it is not such a critical role anymore. However, punt returns are another matter for which Campanaro, Webb and Steve Smith Sr. will all be given chances.

Exactly what the Ravens were thinking I suppose. This way, they can cut him if someone becomes available or should they have to make a roster move of some kind.
