2015 Practice Squad Tracker

Yeah, Moderator 3 summed it up for me. My point is if another team tried to sign him from us, we'd have the chance to at least activate him first. Meaning to say we'd have the right to keep him as long as we promoted him to our 53.

Got it. Thanks guys ... I'm telling you, these rules run deep.

Under those circumstances, there is virtually zero chance we'd lose a guy like James. If someone went to take him, I think we'd make the move to activate him. Guys like Renner, who I don't think we'd try to squeeze on the roster to prevent from leaving, are the only ones at risk.

Toussaint is a Steeler .... Interesting ... we all have been focused on Magee being our guy to roll onto the roster, and the Steelers opt for Toussaint

If the Ravens didn't offer to bring him back he needs to do what's best for him and his family.

So if no other team offered him a position, he's supposed to give up his NFL career bc the only team that wants him is the rival of the team that just cut him? That makes perfect sense.

Right of first refusal, essentially.

And apparently we didn't exercise that right, when it came to Toussaint.

I find that interesting. The Steelers valued Toussaint over Magee (and everyone else available), while everyone assumes we value Magee over Toussaint.

Something is going on under the surface ... just not sure what we might be waiting for, in terms of opening the roster spot by moving Urban. Could be trying to work out something with another RB that is available or waiting for someone (Ball?) to clear waivers.

I find that interesting. Either the Steelers valued Toussaint over Magee or we are in the process of committing Magee to the roster and he's deciding to stay. Toussaint was a free agent upon clearing waivers, eligible to sign anywhere. We no longer held any of his rights.

Right - I made that statement when initially thought he was on our PS, but not the case.

Still I find it interesting that the Steelers opted for him, when everyone assumes we value Magee more. That is of course just speculation, since we cut them both.

I've said this before a couple weeks ago. But i wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Ravens only carry 2 active RB and use Juice as the emergency guy.

I find it odd that the Ravens haven't done anything with Mcgaee yet. If the plan is to move him to the active roster once Urban is placed on IR, why not at least sign him to the PS and protect him from other teams? Do the Ravens have some type of verbal agreement with Mcgaee and his agent? I don't understand the advantages to just having Magee float out there for anyone to sign if he's a guy you plan on moving to your 53.

I think everyone just assumes Magee will be the guy moved to the 53 because of the injury to Taliaferro but i'm not so sure. What's the benefit of holding 1 practice squad spot open when Magee could hold that spot then be promoted later. Does the 3yr deal he signed have something to do with the Ravens waiting? Is there a vet out there the team is looking at? Is there a trade in the works where the Ravens would need that final PS spot open to stash someone else there until Urban comes off the roster or is Magee just not their guy?

I've been wondering about the same sort of thing ... as I said in an earlier post, "Something is going on under the surface ... just not sure what we might be waiting for ...". It really seems that we're looking at someone specific to become available.

While a trade could be a possibility, I don't feel like we'd be looking to trade for an RB, because the need for an RB should only be temporary. Once LT is ready to play, we are not likely to carry 4 RBs and we'd not be willing to risk Allen nor a guy we traded for to clear waivers.

That's the thing. I don't think RB is the position they'd traget if a trade is in the work, just for that reason. If the Ravens make a move i think it'd be for a DB with return abilities. But i'm not sure that's the play either. But I'm sure Ozzie has something going on

Hensley and Zrebiec (maybe?) said yesterday that Magee is the favorite to return to the roster once they officially move Urban.  I imagine the holdup is simply them seeing if there are any better options before they make the move.  The market is starting to clear up after all of the moves made yesterday.

The rat jerks! To decipher our run blocking scheme is the only reason they signed him. The weasels!

We still have the opportunity to snag him back if we wanted to, ya' know... they would have to sign him to their roster to protect having him.

The Ravens just like to make it coplicated and screw with our roster predictions.

The problem is we have to keep him on the active roster for a full 3 weeks. The Steelers know this as well. It just sucks that these guys stoop to this level because their draft picks suck!

Added WR Daniel Brown, WR Jeremy Ross, and TE Dominique Jones… Charles James to the 53?

Jeremy Ross is a big get, too.  Plenty of return experience!

I imagine Charles James wouldn't have talked about the Ravens for no reason, so maybe he is going on the 53. I like the Ross pickup.

Not sure why the Ravens are not announcing Charles James to the PS....I assume it has to be that they may be on the fence about putting him on the 53.

Apparently he sucks. Lions fans say he's not that good. Mediocre returner they say.

I am reading a lot of reports online that say they are shocked that Ross was cut.

Ross became the return man for the Detroit Lions last year. He averaged 25.4 yards on kick returns and 8.9 yards on punt returns. He finished with 23 kick returns for 584 yards and 32 punt returns for 284 yards. He didn’t return any for a touchdown, and was ranked No. 31 by Pro Football Focus (PFF) among kick returners, and No. 61 as a punt returner.

Not happy with this signing based off the stats. We should've just signed Raheem Mostert off of the Eagles PS. Or.....Trade for C.Patterson....

They can't announce it because he's not officially apart of the PS. They just have an agreement with him, but the 10 man PS is set. The question is what's the hold up with putting Urban on IR-DTR?

That makes sense, thanks for clarifying.

Is Urban expected back sooner than 4-5 weeks? That may explain the delay in putting him on IRDR perhaps? If he is ready to play in our 5th game, I can understand them not using the designation and just putting him on the active roster to heal up.

I can't see him back that soon with that injury, but it depends on how he heals i guess. The 5th game is mid October, that would be like 90 days since Urban was hurt. That's a quick turnover.
