Waiting for the final roster to take shape with baited breath! Just excited for this season. Harbs recently at least on two occasions that I can remember has begun to caution the fans that this is not a one game season (Denver) but a long 16 game haul. I think he is subliminally handicapping our expectations. But, I still think we come out victorious game 1 against Denver.

There will quite a few RBs available today. Perhaps a veteran with some punt return experience. Ozzie will take care of it. Not worried at all.

I was more worried about having enough D-line depth and Ozzie made the smart decision to keep an extra big body around to defend the run effectively.

I agree, letting Jacoby go was a bad move. But I won't panic.

I wouldn't say it was a bad move. He really was falling off as a receiver. I don't think he was worth the money, for us.

for previous posters, Jacoby blew majorly last year both in return yardage and poor decisions fielding punts too deep and cost them a lot of field position as a result. You can't pay 3 million to a marginal kick returner with no other value. kick returns are almost non existent now due to touch backs. i think they will use Webb, and he will have a diminished role as a DB due to his constant lingering injuries.

This is why you pay ZERO ATTENTION to camp players. Talking up so many guys who are "Making Plays" and "Catching Everything" is a joke. Now its time for the real roster to be finalized over the next few days. On to Denver.

Of course, one of the biggest misnomers in football is this is the Ravens%u2019 %u201Cfinal%u201D 53-man roster. Hardly. Someone should take a picture of it, quick, because this version of the roster is going to last about as long as the grill%u2019s flames at your Labor Day cookout.

Here's to HAPPY GRILLING !

More precisely, this is why you don't pay too much attention to all the praising the players get here on br.com. When you read other sources (like Russel Report, for example), you see that the camps and pre-season s are seldom sp triumphant for every player as they may seem when you only read br.com...

Dunno, but I never liked seeing running backs as returners. RB's don't have to catch long passes as part of their "normal" operation... That's why, I guess, it's usually WR's and CB's that get to return kicks and punts... For them, catching long passes securely is, indeed, an everyday experience.

They'll find somebody or they'll fair catch every punt and let as many kickoffs bounce outta the end zone as possible. Crappy field position is still better than turning the ball over, or worse yet, getting SSS or Webby hurt.

With over 1000 Players cut loose, yesterday? I think we can find someone. I like Campanaro, but darned if he doesn't seem like another Brandon Stokely. Have to stay healthy, which I will give Jacoby credit for doing. Only time he really got hurt was when he got smashed by his own teammate.

Urban goes on IR later today and that leaves 1 spot open...so maybe Jackson returns.

The quote about taking a picture of the Roster right now is an accurate description.....LOL

I wouldn't mind seeing Magee (RB) come back to the fold. He's tough and can do all of the assignments necessary in the "Job Description". If Belchick cut Jonas Gray.....then something is up with his Injury.

generally cornerbacks arent wide receivers becuz they cant catch. Theres a big difference between fielding a punt or kickoff and catching a pass.

While I agree w/your main point, it's not necessarily true about CB's being able to catch long passes. Quite a lot of them are indeed now playing CB because they couldn't catch the ball on a regular basis. I agree about RB's, though.

Now all of a sudden everybody wants to jump on Jacoby bandwagon. Stop tripping ppl. The roster isn't done yet. We have not heard a darn thing today about who will be on our PS so just chillax. Maybe we did did not need Asa Jackson as a CB, but we damn sure could have used him as a PR/KR to prevent any other player from getting injured because obviously he was disposable. Oh well.....

Perhaps Leon Washington is someone to look at? While he was not with a training camp this year, he is an experienced running back and kick returner. Actually his last game with Jacksonville last year was a good one.

Well, there's really nothing to be exposed.

You get exposed on ST by failing to cover kicks, and you get exposed on ST by turning the ball over. Jacoby doesn't help us get better by doing either of those things.

If we get exposed on ST, it will have nothing to do with Jacoby.

Eisenberg - I said it yesterday in another thread and in response to the original article here that related the history. I think you need to highlight that this is the 11th straight year that the Ravens have placed an UDFA on a starting roster. That has to be a huge draw for UDFAs to come to Baltimore. I am an everyday Ravens hat wearing fan who reads enough to know that it is special to play for the Ravens and that is from countless players commenting on it and how they let you be yourself. But the average guy and agent may only have the data that show the Ravens have a great track record of placing UDFAs on a roster. So they have a better chance with the Ravens than an other team, plus they have Joe (and this year SSS). Maybe do a check on this history an see if we placed any one on other rosters the past few years. Maybe Carter or Butler will be picked up. It would be a great follow up article to the one from the other day that pointed out the history in the first place suggesting that we might put an UDFA on our own roster. We didn't with Butler or Magee, at least not yet.... Maybe it will be 11 years placing one on our own by opening night. Thanks for all the nice articles, can't wait for your next.

I'm not second guessing Ozzie and John. I am however superstitious and wonder if Jacoby's odd screw ups were due to trying to hard because he was around Gary again and was trying to do to much to "please Dad" so to speak. I hope that we aren't thinking half way through that our self inflicted wound this year (last year not renewing the corner who went to the Bills, and the year before trading Boldin) that it was cutting Jacoby. I would rather be pondering if we should have gone for Dorsett or Diggs, but I'm glad Ozzie got Perriman and will only second guess that decision after he gets 2-3 years under his belt, same with Maxx. I applaud Ozzie for going offense with high picks breaking a defense first seeming preference. Of course Davis looks like a first or second round pick so the wizard strikes again. Guess I'm just venting but in the end I trust Steve Ozzie and John they have been magic for the past 7 years, I see no reason that will change anytime soon.

don't know if it's been confirmed but I heard the giants picked up Asa.

Render unto Caesar that which is his and render unto Ozzie anything under the sun,... or something like that!
