[News] Who Will Be Returner After Asa Jackson Cut?

74 posts in this topic

Receiver is probably a bigger issue for the start of the season. Expecting Aiken or Brown to require double coverage, or safety help might be a big wish. Though I believe they are learning. Maybe picking up Reggie Wayne or Hakeem Nicks would help. Though older they both would command respect and if lucky might surprise us with Joe's arm. Also they both had raw speed early in on, this could be of value in teaching the younger Aiken and Perriman. My feelings are that the #2 for the Ravens must demand coverage's to allow the other weapons on the team to exploit the defense.

Asa definitely was not the answer and cutting him was, no doubt, the right thing to do. I do not believe Camp, SSS, or Webb should be used as returners. Camp, too fragile and too good a receiver out of the slot. SSS, our #1 receiver so he's too valuable to take the chance putting him back there. Webb, although not as good a CB as he was, too fragile and still needed in the secondary. So, Ozzie, you NEED to bring the best guy available to be our returner. We don't have a good candidate for the job. I have No idea who to cut to make room for him so he's gotta be able to offer something else besides just returning kicks and punts. Make it happen, Oz.

we wouldn't need to cut anybody. After Brent urban gets the short term IR there will be a spot open. Would be nice though if we can find a RB who can return kicks and kill 2 birds with one stone.

Asa should have kept his original number!Smh this will be very entertaining watching players trying to win this job during the season! Defense will be putting up alot of three and outs so this is so important! 1st up to bat Campy?!

it's a move that really was the best decision, whoever they decide on, they should just tell that guy, don't worry about getting yard's just catch the ball and fall down until he's comfortable or we get someone legit back there.I don't want to see a corner or reciever back there to limit injury to those coveted positions.

Just for once, I would like to see some columnist man up and tell it like it is. I won't hold my breath though. Asa Jackson sucks. He sucked as a corner, and he sucked as a returner. No matter how well you run, if you can't hold onto the ball, then what good is it? It amazes me that the Ravens think so little of a return man that they gave Jacoby Jones away so easily. He was one of the few guys in the NFL who could change the game on one play. Not since Jermaine Lewis have we had that kind of weapon. Unbelievable.

I guess Asa's total suckitude is why the Giants claimed him off waivers.

Well, they will either bring him back or get another KR/cornerback to replace Urban when they move him to IR. Unless they plan on bringing back Butler.

Oh, the Giants claimed Asa....so be it. They routinely claim Raven players but then end up releasing them a year later. It's almost like a pipeline!!

"Just like Chykie, Asa will get picked up as soon as he is cut if he is released. Bet on it."

I got one thumbs down for being right. He even went to the same team as Chykie.

We've picked up some of the Giants former players too. If there is a pipeline it goes to Cleveland. They look at everything we let go.

Not sure that's the best barometer for measuring whether a guy "sucks" or not...
