[News] Ravens Trim 2015 Roster To 53 Players

He himself requested his release.

Maybe he felt he couldn't do one more season.

that's strange bc I just saw an interview with him yesterday after Brady's suspension was lifted and he sounded like he was excited and ready to go. Wouldn't he have just retired instead of requesting a release?

Hakeem Nicks must have at least one more season in the tank as a #3 receiver and returner just to end his career on a not so terrible note, i think its worth the risk for a 1 year deal he's only 27

If he really wants to retire (and that's the prevailing theory), he may want to do it as a Colt?

Dunno, just speculating of course.

Hakeem could benefit from an elite reliable QB with strong offensive leadership and focus with Joe, Trestman, SSS, Marshal etc

"The Titans' website reported Nicks was "making plays" early in camp, but the reality is that Nicks has almost nothing left after lower-body injuries sapped his once prodigious explosion." (rotoworld.com)

That's only one opinion of course, but there are many more other ones with similar conclusions.

Jah had his best camp ever, and gets the boot....

If you read other sources than br.com, you know that even this camp was mediocre at best for him... And the pre-season games weren't better either...

Not terribly surprising to see the 3 mentioned above , to not make the Final 53. Jackson cooked his goose with Fumbles and Jah Reid has been up and down for several years.

Somewhat puzzled that Jeremy Butler didn't make it, but it isn't a shocking result.

May be that Myers can land on the Practice Squad.

Anybody thinking ray rice?

1.) Back then, form what the owner said, it seemed pretty obvious that Rice's career in Baltimore is over for good.

2.) Even if we wanted him, he's been out of football for a whole season, and not in his form for 2 straight seasons. We hae no idea at this point how good a RB Rice currently is. We know how good he was back then - but now?

3.) We can be fairly sure than there are rb's available who are in much better form now than Rice.

With so many players becoming vailable so soon, it's always good to have one "spare" roster spot at this point. If we get Magee on the PS we can move him on the active roster at any time.

Of course, this was assuming they don't pick up a KR/RB/WR off waivers/in FA

But his preseason performance is what got him let go.

I think most people thought he looked good in the pre-season as a backup OT. The issue was there are too many options ahead of him with higher ceilings: Hurst as T, Urschel/Jensen as G. And he had a higher cap number than all of them.

why so many pppl downing Shaub and pretending that having renner on the sideline is a better option. the way i see it, neither of htem will likely see the field of play so it comes down to who can bring more value to the team, and not just being called in if Joe gets hurt, another unlikeliness. Shaub, while he may not look exactly like a guy that wants to be on the field, certainly can help develop Joe in this offense. We were impregnated with Kubiaks West Coast System here. No one knows that system better than Shaub. 2 Time Pro Bowler under Kubs. At least on the sideline, he will be there giving Joe a ton of Cerebral Info and leadership from experience. That is HUGE. while he didnt look fantastic as a backup, he certainly can go out when called on and manage a drive or finish a game, which is all likeliness will be what will ever happ anyway. Shaub is a good investment. Put Renner on the PS and develop him, maybe he will compete for the backup job again after we get whats needed from Shaub. This is a good team strategy and how i understand it to be.

THANK goodness. Jah Reid could barely handle 3rd stringers. His been wasting our time for far too long.

Good luck to him on something OTHER than NFL!

Hakeem Nicks, James Jones, A.J Jenkins and Duron Carter are 2 veteran and 2 young notable receivers all FA. One of them will end up a raven. We are one 5'9 36 year old man (knocking on wood) getting injured away from no reliable starting pass catchers. Reggie Wayne is a FA after taking over half a mil of cheatriots money which is nice but he will probably retire. SSS is beast but he needs someone else to take pressure off him

There is some serious favoritism going on for Kamar Aiken. I haven't seen him do anything spectacular but hopefully the coaches have seen enough in training camp to come to the conclusion to cut Brown & Butler for him.

Aiken is basically the #2 WR at this point. His spot was always secure.
