[News] Does Breshad Perriman Have A Chance To Play Week 1?

41 posts in this topic

Daniel Brown really could have helped this offense immediately. Rare you get a receiver with his size and talent. Small school gem

"Does Breshad Perriman Have A Chance To Play Week 1?"

Of course not. Who are we trying to kid here? The question is whether he has any chance to play before October... There have even been speculations that he might be placed on the PUP list...

Week#1... of course...

Sorry, but nope. If he made the roster, he would have got no more than a couple of snaps per game, with no more than 1, maybe 2 targets. He would be no higher than #6 on the depth chart. Those guys seldom if ever have considerable roles on the O - more on special teams.

He will very likely end up on our PS though, so he'll have the chance to make it happen eventually.

Tried so hard to stay positive about this kid but as time goes on and the Ravens keep things on the hush hush it just seems more and more that the organization had one of their rare draft miscues.

He could be used as a decoy, you don't have to have a lot of route running skills if you are a burner. His route running can be refined during the season!

I always had a feeling that Perriman and Campanaro were our aces in the hole for Denver. There isn't much tape on them for Denver to game plan. So, it'll be interesting to see Perriman, Steve Smith Sr. and Perriman out on our first drive ending with Perriman catching a deep ball from Flacco for a TD!

So when Perriman takes a tumble the next time on his knees, can we all expect him to go to the bench for another month or so? Looks that way. Every time this kid goes down, I'll react the same way as I will for Pitta. If Pitta ever plays again.

Before the Ravens game he wasn't running routes, he was walking them. Someone who is just walking now seems to me to be a washout for the first game. Do I want him to practice and play? Absolutely. Do I think he will? No way.

he's only been injured 1 time? And didn't really have an injury history in college either. You guys are just impatient. They're being extra cautious with their number 1 pick. Why rush him back prematurely so he can reinjure it and thn have it as a lingering issue all season? Playin it safe. Were good. And once again his condition as an adolescent has nothing to do with this. Anyway, I'm starting to sound like a broken record.

While i do believe that Daniel Brown has a ton of raw potential as a WR in the NFL, i find it really hard to believe that when ppl watch him play against the last strings of the Atlanta Defense that it means that he is a starting WR against the leagues best. I hope that the Ravens at least put him in to development on the practice squad to continue to mold him, but to think that hes a starting guy isnt at all the truth. As far as Perriman...just praying that he is going to be back this week in Denver. A ton of our total offensive scheme, whether passing or Running the ball is heavily reliant on having that deep threat that keeps defenses honest. It will be really hard to get big chunks of offensive yrdge without that element on offense. Come one Breshad...get back in here and ball!

If this young man, as someone has published, has this condition (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osgood%E2%80%93Schlatter_disease), I fear we won't see much him on the field. However, we all hope that the team doctors and scouts and managers didn't really overlook something like this.

These are the types of comments that drive me bananas. The reason you, or any of us know about Perriman having O-S is because there was an article written about it in the Orlando Sentinel (a major news publication). Does anyone really think our FO/scouts/medical staff weren't aware of this? That they couldn't, at the very least, do a google search on him?

Edit: I've posted this before, but here's some information from a doctor/rehab specialist on the condition, and its effect on his current injury.

Whether he plays week one or not, he probably isn't going to be a huge contributor right out of the gate anyway. The kid has a lot on his shoulders and if we bring him in the wrong way, we could ruin the kid before he ever gets started. We'll need him producing after the half way point in the season and even then, that may be asking a lot. He'll be a staple here soon enough. The boy has skills. We'll enjoy seeing them in full display before long.

I swear some of you stay up at night wondering if Perriman is gonna play week 1! Jeez you would think we had never had a player out with an injury before. Its not season ending. He is expected to play at some time. IT COULD BE WORST! Step away from the damn bridge!

i believe you can pencil week one in as a loss, playing Denver in Mile High, hopefully its not a blow out.Perriman wont be of much use this entire season, much less week one.

Me too...  I have not said this until now for multiple reasons.  I wanted to ask my daughter first if she minded if I disclosed the issues.

My daughter is 34.  When she was 14, she began having issues with her legs, and orthopedic doctors in Baltimore (3 of them) diagnosed her with this disorder.  She, would be in so much pain at night from the days activities, and she would have some swelling periodically.  BUT..  the cause was exactly as described.  Her bones were growing faster than her muscles could.  The docs asked that we just imagine the stretching of the muscles throughout this period of growth.  She is 5'10" tall.  At 14, she was 4'11".  She grew 10 inches in less than a year.  It is a condition very prevalent among very tall people..  She just had to finish growing.  In her Junior and Senior years, she was a cross-country runner in high school, played soccer, and was a cheerleader.

Adolescent conditions like this have had ZERO effect on her adult life.

The media has blown this so far out of proportion... especially connecting the condition to this injury.

And simply because the fan base and the media just aren't  satisfied with the amount of information they are getting.

MAYBE...  Just maybe, they want the guy healthy and don't want to push him into a season long aggravating injury...  It could just possibly be that simple folks.

@Ravensfansince03 I'm with you at the beginning this non-event we made the mistake of listening to Harbaugh about the extent of his injury and got that 'Ole' Coach's' speech about hoping to have him back in a few days, never really explaining what the injury was, then it was on to the 'standard' we'll have to wait on when the doctors think he is ready, again failing to say what was wrong with this young man, so why is everybody losing sleep over when and/or if he returns for whatever game... I'm still in the dark about what is exactly wrong with him!!

you dont rush a 4:20 timed WR back to the field. This guy needs to be 100% before taking the field. WE must wait, once he is healthy then let the cat lose! If he cant make it..then Oz and the team made a big mistake. Lets give him a chance first. We look pretty darn good going into this season. Cool Joe at his peak, O-line is intact, a good running back, 6 WR and 3 strong TE.Defense is much healthier than rntering last year. Time to beat Denver right out of the gate!

Who is Perriman? I remember that name but can't quite place it.

Perriman is the Ravens #1 draft pick for this season. What impressed the Ravens is his pure speed, he is very fast from what I've read.
