Second Impression of Breshad Perriman

263 posts in this topic

He better have Manning-level knowledge of the playbook now. All this off Time he's had if he doesn't understand the playbook completely by the time he comes back we have a problem.

Where did I say Tucker was drafted??  Someone?  Undrafted rookies are still part of the draft process though, you realize that right?  it's why they are signed in mass hordes the next day.  In an argument about whether or not Ozzie is still good during draft time, him signing a kicker who ends up being the most accurate kicker in NFL history deserves mention right?  Someone?

Indeed. No one else even tried to pick him up. That is to Ozzie's benefit.

I would just like to know what the first impression of Breshad Perriman was. We hardly had time to form 'any' impression on him.

Never got a first impression...

I created this thread a few days after the draft it wasn't my impressions of him as a pro, rather my impressions of him coming out of college, I didn't like was I saw at first but then I went back watched more tape and saw a lot of potential, thus a second impression.

People who have no impression at all haven't watched him or the videos... There are good ones out there that will give you a lot of information.

My first impression of him is what I saw in his games at UCF. I liked him as a receiver and as the 2015 draft started to shape up he I saw him as a distinct possibility for Baltimore.  I was excited about that pick too.

Now, I'm concerned.  Not because I changed my mind on him, but this injury BS is incomprehensible.  First its a bruise/PCL sprain and out for a few days. Then a flare-up of his OS and out for a few weeks.  Now we're back to the PCL sprain and out until October.  It's been over a month now and there is STILL NO definitive diagnosis nor guarantee on a return time.  Considering that they pinned much of their hopes on him as a #2, THIS is what causes me concern.

They're being cryptic about the injury - that's a given. If he's going to be out a while, just say so.  Dragging it out like this is worse on the fans than not being direct.

Im in the same boat pretty much the injuring is concerning, but I think they are being cryptic to throw off opponents I mean he's our only speedy wide receiver, 4.24 speed is something you have to gameplay for so when Harbs says he could go week one that's just one more thing for the Broncos to prepare for. even if he has no chance to play.

ONE guy on Twitter said it a while back. Therefore it's true.

Personally, I have no idea if Perriman will be anything. He's had NO time to practice this year and he has a bad knee that wil probably always be a risk.

Then to answer, I don't think I ever liked the pick, but accepted it. It was a position of need and he was physically gifted. Also, replaced a person who I guess was similar. He seems to have much better ball skills than Torrey, and to me, attacks the ball when he's catching it. Routes need work, but if he's serious can develop well. My problem, like most, is we haven't seen him do a Damn thing in the pros. Then, we find out he has some knee problem, and only months after he was drafted and what's kept him out?

while im not claiming to be a doctor or any kind of staff member.. i have to point out that OS disease doesnt mean you have bad knees, it can essentially be boiled down to your ligaments and tendons not hitting the same growth spurts as your bones and muscles as a teenager, and once the tendons and ligaments catch up and reach that post-adolescent size, then it becomes a non factor. i dont see how OS disease will permanently affect his career. also it seems that it needs mentioning(although it shouldnt) that knee injuries are nothing to play around with, breshad runs stupidly fast, and he is not a small guy by any means, hes got a lot of length and mass that he is carrying around at ridiculous speeds, and a moderate to severe bone bruise anywhere in the lower extremities needs to be handled very cautiously, especially by bigger guys, because once it heals then it is pretty much forgotten, but putting too much stress on it can lead to much worse results, it sounds cliche but his injury is basically a minor one that could be turned into a major one without allowing it to heal properly.

I thought a doctor came out and said his OS as a teenager wouldn't affect him at all as an adult? The only injury news that has come out is speculation it seems, I don't remember anyone from the organization ever naming the injury anything other than the bruise it was when he first got it. It's very frustrating seeing every reporter on Twitter saying it's something different when we haven't gotten a clear answer from Harbs, or anyone in the organization for that matter.

doctors had come out and said that. i was just informing cillmatic that he is being kept out because of the nature of the injury, not because he had a growth disorder as an adolescent and that OS shouldnt plague him throughout his career

It's a legit question . Neither you or I have any idea what he can do in the NFL .

True, but I have spent the last couple of years watching him here at UCF.

Maybe this injury thing has been a strategy, so we unveil him against the Broncos.

PERRIMAN WILL BE THE NEXT RANDY MOSS!

I have no idea whats wrong with Perriman but I can say that for !00% certainty John Harbaugh knows exactly whats wrong with him and must think us complete idiots to buy his lame excuses. My guess is it's way more serious than any of us know and at this point have to believe he is a complete bust.

So. It doesn't mean he will be a good NFL player . I certainly hope so though .

Can't you at least let the man play a few games before labeling him a bust? Players that don't play bc of injuries are NOT a bust. With your rationale, every rookie that suffers a season ending injury before the season starts is a bust and that makes ZERO sense.

To be fair, no one saw it coming from the Fonz, either...

The "Almighty" Wizard stood firm in his diagnosis of OBJ last year labeling him a big, fat bust... but then he somehow changed his mind as the season progressed... I would assume. Ignorance is bliss.

Just rewatched Perriman's pro day forty, what a smooth gait - he didn't strain himself one bit.

He's obviously a special athlete; if he can combine that with solid (not necessarily ELITE) football technique and IQ along with durability I'll be one happy camper.

Get well soon Breshad!

How can a player be a bust in his first year ever in The NFl? You speaking like Perriman just broke his leg or something and can never play football ever again. Honestly if Perriman injury was a serious as you believe don't you think The Ravens would have traded for a veteran receiver way before the final decision for 53 man squad?

Or, at the very least placed him on the Injured Reserve, and like you said, picked up another veteran receiver...

And....

On the other note...  They very well may be chuckling and laughing at all of the speculation coming out of nowhere with all of this.

I saw the actual tweet about Perriman being out until October and Faulker's interpretation was way off.

Hensley said due to the time frame for that type of injury (or what he believes the injury to be), he'd likely be practicing this week or next week and would expect Perriman to take a few weeks to get up to speed, thus the October return. Never did he say it would take definitively until October and he admitted it was pure speculation.
