Second Impression of Breshad Perriman

i like rob, and the black dude on the morning show i cant remember his name. vinny just seems to stir the pot and he just speaks with too much conviction and is seriously closed minded, i dont like how he disrespects callers just because he disagrees with them even if theyre making a good point. there have been many times where ive thought about calling in just because i know i could make him look stupid and get him all riled up, but i just never do it lol. but yeah scott and jeremy are totally unqualified and need new jobs

The to b and vinnie show is unlistenable.

Two un-funny guys who think they are funny. All baseball all the time. No insightful analysis regarding football. Insipid.

I ought to start a weekly radio show that features the noted experts here on Baltimoreravens.com.

Only half kidding.

ive said it before and ill say it again, about half of the posters on these board, especially on the draft forums during draft season, are twice as knowledgeable as a large majority of analysts

yes, but the half that isn't kidding should do it.  It would be very interesting and insightful.

This is because we are reviewing film, not just highlights or taking the word of someone on ESPN or NFL Network.  I call the media mediots, because many of them are idiots.

Ahah mediots ;D

Luckily there are some channels which keep uploading NCAA games because even 'Draftbreakdown' contains too few material (something like 3-4 tapes per player).

I use to download most of the games direcly from those channels through YouTube Downloader, simply because 1) it's more practical than looking for them online again and again, between billions of similar ones 2) it's easier to go back spot an action using the keyboard than the youtube bar.

Once I even started to cut games into tapes with VirtualDub or Machete, but that took an amount of time I can't afford to waste anymore.. too bad.

Many of us are in the wrong field :-)

I was listening to 105.7 last year before the draft, and I'm pretty sure it was rob that said he would be scared if manziel went to the Browns, and that they would win the division if he did go there. LOL

Rob is terrible, I can't get 105.7 in downtown Silver Spring now that I have moved. I actually like 92.7 and Cooley, and Zab they gave legit football conversation with differing opinions.

Everybody was happy with the Torrey smith pick back then, perriman is much far along in his route running, hands and wideout play period. This guy has hof potential... He is gonna learn from Steve smith and bobby engram.hell be fine.. Plus we got coach harbaugh whos a great motivator

I think if the Ravens had taken Dorsett, a lot of peripheral chatter would be centered around the notion that Ozzie killed rounds one and two instead of the trepidation being exhibited by many of us.

Here is the thing I keep coming back to: The Ravens had a very up close look at both prospects by way of pre-draft visit and they chose Perriman. That carries weight with me.

i dont think it had anything to do with them having a closer look, i just think for their board specifically they had perriman as a better fit, and i think even without any visits it would have been the same. flacco isnt the best timing qb and that is the type of offense that dorsett will shine in, perriman on the other hand is sort of an ideal target for flacco and our offense, we can get more out of perriman than possibly any other wr in the draft not named amari cooper.

Maybe so. I'm sure that played a part but They did think enough of Dorsett to have him in for a visit which leads me to think they considered him regardless of "fit".

Clearly they preferred perriman.

i think they liked both and dorsett had to be in consideration, but like you said i think it came down to preference, although i do think it may be possible they saw dorsett as his original projection of 2nd round value

I very much think this is the case. I don't think we saw Dorsett as a first round talent, evidenced by the fact that we would've traded back if Perriman wasn't there. Not that Dorsett is bad. You know I really like him. We probably saw him as an early second guy not a 15th overall.

i personally saw dorsett as a first round talent because i was able to look past the system he came from and i thought his potential was very obvious and alot of others just left it at "he only ran go routes in college so thats all he can do" but i certainly dont think dorsett has the ceiling of perriman, and i think that, along with height, may have been why perriman was ranked so high and dorsett was viewed as a 2nd. id be willing to bet though, that if we traded back, then dorsett wouldve been on our board as a coveted guy

Yeah, I agree, but I wonder if Dorsett would have made it to us.

We didn't see Dorsett as a first round talent likely due to lack of prototype traitrs

For anyone that doesn't think we got a steal with this pick, you need to go watch the tape again. This guy is easily imo the 3rd best receiver in the class and quite possibly the 2nd.

Well, you never know. Maybe the Colts take Perriman, lol.

True. The Colts were in need of  a kick returner and Dorsett skill sets matches Ty Hilton so when Hilton contract is up then they can allow him to walk especially if Dorsett is showing he can replace Hilton . Right now Dorsett gives them a pretty good returner which is something Perriman wouldn't be able to do atleast to my understanding.

that is very true. although something gives me the feeling that dorsett was just their guy, just like agholor was clearly "the guy" for the eagles and perriman was "the guy" for us, guess well never know and im happy to never know :)

yea man i was low on the pick at first but after a while to sit on it, this is the most excited ive ever been about a pick. i dont think i have seen a wr more tailor-fit for our offensive style, his ceiling, well, there is none, and his floor is an elite deep threat, i really think we got a steal and this guy is gonna shock the world and make the naysayers scratch their heads and say "i thought he had bad hands?"

I'm not sure if this warrants a new thread but it seems like the other one was nothing but people bashing, and I'll admit I was one of them, but after cooling down a bit I decided to re-review Perriman and go re-watch some tape of him and here's what I saw:

The Good:

A++ Size/speed (obviously).

I was quick to say his hands were awful and he had some bad drops but I believe his hands are already more developed than Torrey smith's he already catches the ball with his hands which is more than Torrey did coming out.

And while his routes need work(not much worse than jaelen strong) he still runs a more complex route tree than Devin smith.

He's is more physical than Torrey is he can go up and get it and make tough catches at times.

Another note would be his QB last year was awful, he under threw him on multiple occasions.

We saw a run on wideouts in the late first round and I believe it's going to carry over into the second round leaving any chance to get a WR in the second very slim if we didn't take perriman.

All in all I was quick to label Perriman, mostly due to the fact I believed there were better players on the board but that's just my opinion and I fully trust Ozzie even with his wideout track record, I'm gonna hold anymore bad judgement agaisnst Perriman until I see him play and I urge others to do the same, he needs quite a bit of work but if our staff can develop him he has #1 potential, he's not just a Torrey smith clone.

"Another note would be his QB last year was awful, he under threw him on multiple occasions"

That is one aspect narrow minded fans do not realize. Good point. .

All the Jaelon Strong fans out there are stunned.  The Texans made a wise choice. I'm going to follow him.

In your opinion does he pass the Gruden test?

I'm honestly relieved to see us take Perriman to be honest. If we passed on a WR in round 1, I don't know how we could have got one later. I did expect Devin Smith to go early, but I was a bit wowed when I actually saw it happened. Overall, I like the pick.

I actually think Strong was massively overvalued by fans here. He's gonna struggle a lot in the beginning because he could just not separate from almost any CB.
