[News] Daniel Brown Among Five Ravens Cuts

46 posts in this topic

That Daniel Brown cut is going to come back to haunt us. Just when we had the potential of a complete brute & tough Receiver set, they get rid of Daniel Brown. Aiken better be worth it, because I had my money on Daniel Brown taking someones spot. Who cares if it was only against 3rd string guys. Them man caught the deep ball with EASE & Confidence. That should of been proof enough that he had something to contribute to this team.

You guys act like this is a surprise. The 6-7 wide receivers have been locked in for quite some time d. Brown will make good ps candidate.

You can find all kinds of youtube videos of players that are not good enough to play in the NFL catching deep passes with ease and confidence against lesser competition. That certainly does not prove that they can get it done at the highest level. We saw a few plays made late in preseason games. The coaches see that plus countless hours of practice time. None of us know better than they do. Remember how many big plays Omar Brown made in the preseason? He earned the nickname "baby Ed Reed." Deonte Thompson looked like a legit deep threat in the preseason. I could go on and on. You may be able to point out an extremely rare exception or two, but when a guy doesn't get drafted, doesn't get any playing time in the preseason against good competition, and doesn't make the team, he is not going to be an impact player in his rookie season. Everyone should just accept that and move on.

You guys are so wishy washy. One minute it's one guy and the next minute it's somebody else. A couple bad plays and the guy deserves to be cut immediately , a couple good ones and the guy deserves a roster spot and is the next megatron.

I'd rather have Pointer over Vaughn going off what I've witnessed so far. Daniel Brown looked good, he's another big guy with potential, hope he clears waivers to the practice squad.

This is a tough time of year.....guys played their hearts out, but only so many roster spots to go around. Good luck to the remaining guys before today's 4 p.m. deadline!

So you admit that Daniel Brown did show that he is better than 3rd & 4th string defenders. Thank you for proving my point :D he is starter material if he torches backup guys.

Really? That's what you got out of my post? Did you not read the phrase "not good enough to play in the NFL"? Deonte Thompson torched 3rd and 4th string defenders. Was he starter material? There are all kinds of players you never heard of that have made big plays against bad competition.  It's virtually meaningless. Brown had all of training camp to show that he belonged with the starters, yet the coaches apparently didn't see anything that warranted him being in the game until the starters were out. Kamar Aiken was lighting it up in training camp against the 1st team D, and he has proven that he can make plays in real games, against starters, but you think he should be cut for a guy who didn't even stand out against the backups in training camp because he made a handful of plays at the end of preseason games, against players who are probably getting cut? Bryn Renner lit up 3rd stringers at times too. Do you think he's going to be starting for anyone this year? After the game on Thursday, Harbaugh said Brown would be considered as a PS, developmental guy. That's what he is right now.
