[News] Late For Work 9/4: 7 Answers To Toughest Ravens Roster Questions

61 posts in this topic

I think the returner position is our biggest need. Who do we have besides Asa as a returner, even if Asa makes the team, who is the backup just in case? We definitely need to scan the released list for a good returner. Field positions is extremely important as most football games are too close to call till at least 4th quarter.

Tray walker is a 4th round pick why cut him? It's like cutting LT. Tray needs work as a CB. We're saving perriman for week 1. He's totally fine

Prior Knee Issues? Number one pick? This gets better and better.

Relax, Perriman will be fine. Am not sure but I don't think Perriman missed any college games. Perriman's college record at UCF including a TD reception in 7 straight games. Ended his college career with 31 straight games played with a catch and more. Here is the link - http://www.ucfknights.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/breshad_perriman_742493.html

You know what guys. Brady will get his punishment at some time. Whether it be an injury, bad performance, etc. He will get his due. Bad things can happen to cheaters even though it may take a while. Go Ravens.

Yeah, I don't remember if it was the first official day, or the first day open to the media, but I know it was that first week.

He was hurt on the very first day of training camp.

I would be hands-down psyched for this season if it weren't for all the @#$#@ injuries! What kind of shape will these guys be in? Who else is going to go down?

One thing I saw in pre-season is that we don't have much depth, especially on defense. We need healthy starters to carry these games, especially against the likes of Denver!

I don't know ... it gets harder and harder to believe in Karma. If there was such a thing, the Seahawks wouldn't have had a brain-fart at the last minute and would have won the championship - not NE.

We can only assume that the Faustian pact that Belichick has with Lucifer included 4 championships, rather than only 3. Hopefully it didn't include more ... it could, because it seems that Belichick is a pretty good negotiator.

I'll be happy when I know who will return kicks and punts for the 2015 Baltimore Ravens. Ozzie get on your job sir; we know you're real surgical with this b...

Kickoff returns aren't that big of a deal, but punts do concern me. Kickoffs ... most will be touchbacks and not having a good returner just means you don't have the big threat to take it to the house for the few returnable kicks you get. That feels a little like a luxury.

Punts on the other hand can be devastating if they get botched. At best, the guy doesn't field a kick that he should and the ball goes bouncing and you lose 15-20 yards of field position. At worse, they muff the punt and create a deadly turnover.

Am I the only one who thinks Asa Jackson isn't at all a difficult decision? If he was a good CB, there would be something to argue about... but he isn't - and a promising, but undependable returner. Would that really warrant a final roster spot?

Also, am I the only one who thinks that right now Arthur Brown isn't only stuck behind Daryl Smith and Mosley, but also Zach Orr? Of course I haven't seen much of their training cam performances, but in the pre-season Orr clearly did better than Brown IMHO...

no brainer. Much rather have Cassius on defense than this liability.

this must be one hell of a bone bruise for Perriman... good lord he wont be in shape when he finally does get cleared to practice and play...  It may be week 4 or 5 before he is in game shape and ready to really explode

Hahahaha. I told you davis would have the most impact as a rookie. Dude is a beast. I'd love to boast about perriman...but at this point who cares

They might as well PUP Perriman. If he can't even jog, he's not going to be playing football any time in the next 6 weeks.

I'm not even gonna say anything. Anybody else wanna chime in on this 1

While kick returner IS a position of need (and Ozzie no doubts regrets letting Jacoby go), people are forgetting that with a team like the Ravens, a returner's FIRST responsibility is to field the ball and not turn it over. Hell, most KO's sail out of the end zone anyway. If we could start safely on our own 20 every kick, I'd be happy. In the same vein, a punt returner's first job is to secure the ball so our offense can take the field. Return yards are gravy. Look at every game's score and then compare number of turnovers. Teams that win the turnover battle also win the game.

We need to get Webb, and Camp on the field long enough to fulfill their role at CB and WR before we can even consider either of them as candidates for kick/punt returners. If they can't play at their primary positions then how are you going to give them the extra responsibility to play special teams? Steve could do it in a pinch, but do we really want to put our #1 receiver(by far) at risk... I don't. And Magee, I think he'll be gone. Hope Ozzie find somebody quick.

The season is 17 weeks long and hasn't even started yet. We all like Carl Davis too, but preseason means little next to nothing. Soon you'll be able to boast about Perriman too. Then we can all boast about BOTH.

I'm very upset with this Brady thing. Now I have to go to school and listens to all those guys who said Brady didn't do anything wrong. I guess they're allowed to cheat and I'm sure there be be more cheating.

The judge did not exonerate Brady. He ruled that Goodell did not have the power to suspend him in this circumstance, regardless of whether or not Brady cheated. Anyone who thinks the ruling means Brady is innocent is wrong.

Considering that the team is being very vague about Perriman's "return window", I think it's entirely possible the kid gets put on IR without ever playing this season. Hopefully not, but it's pretty unusual to have such a non-descript "we don't know when he'll be able to play" type deal going on. Also, last I hear, Urban was likely out for the season (again), since when might he be able to come back? I think using the "Designated to return" status on him might be a mistake, and we more than likely might have a much bigger injury that we might want to use that on, for a much more important player, during the season itself.

As for Marlon Brown? The only "resurfacing" he needed to do, was to remind the coaching staff that he exists. Nothing he did last season cost him playing time, they just forgot about him. He needs to get himself noticed and come on strong this year, same with Taliaferro when he returns.

The one thing that stuck with me out of this weeks game was Brown's long catch. I think the finger tip catch may remind the coaching staff how good his hands are, many others have left question to that with drops that would have been big plays possibly scores that ended up just going through their hands to be rolling, bouncing balls on the ground. As I have said before deep threats aren't always just the speeds guys but big guys with better than average speed and strong capable hands. Speed is nice to draw of safeties but even if Perriman comes back to provide that speed threat someone like Brown could become the other outside WR in a three man set with Smith Sr handle the inside.

I would not use the IRD on Urban. Just put him on IR. It sucks that he has to miss another year, but you might need that IRD during the season. If they do decide to use it, I think the one day cut will be Butler (I have us carrying 7 WR with Perriman down, with him as the 7th). I think A. Brown makes the roster. I also think Asa Jackson makes the roster. I hate Jackson as a CB, he's awful, but as a returner he's shown flashes and right now we don't have anyone better. As for the D-Line I have us taking 7. Williams, Jernigan, Canty, Davis, Guy, Tyson, and Lewis-Moore. I think Bilikudi gets beat out of that last spot. It's cheaper to take Lewis-Moore and he's improved all through camp.

Right ....Urban goes to IR. PUP/IR will go to Pitta probably.

Tyson and KLM make the 53 man with Bikuldi to practice squad.

They will keep Smith, Arrington, Melvin and Walker but only 2 of the following make the team: Vaughn, Jackson and Webb. I think they cut Vaughn but I would cut Webb.

They will keep Forsett, Allen, Taliaferro and Toussaint. McGee gets cut.

Thank you I really misunderstood the meaning of the trail. I thought he was trying to proof his innocence.

What? You think he's gonna go from walking to running 4.24's this week?

no, I've just just gotten a little aggravated bc many of us have stated dozens of times that perrimans not eligible for the PUP. But I'm sure you just didn't see it, so I apologize for sounding like a Dickensian. Edited by January J
