[News] Late For Work 9/4: 7 Answers To Toughest Ravens Roster Questions

61 posts in this topic

Am I the only one who thinks Asa Jackson isn't at all a difficult decision? If he was a good CB, there would be something to argue about... but he isn't - and a promising, but undependable returner. Would that really warrant a final roster spot?

Also, am I the only one who thinks that right now Arthur Brown isn't only stuck behind Daryl Smith and Mosley, but also Zach Orr? Of course I haven't seen much of their training cam performances, but in the pre-season Orr clearly did better than Brown IMHO...

Asa is too mistake prone at returner and not talented enough in coverage... Yet I'm not sure about Walker either. I haven't heard his name pretty much at all except in the beginning of preseason when he kept getting beat. Our back-up running back situation is in flux with Taliaferro hurt, maybe bring in someone like Chris Johnson if Arizona cuts him? could be a returner too

bioLarzen, he is a feisty guy who plays way to loose. I personally see talent but he is a liability in my opinion. I am glad he showed the issues with punt/kick off returns. It shows what he is likely to do if given the job and better he fumble away the opportunity in the preseason than the regular season.

Am I the only one who feels a little more discouraged seeing Perriman walk and not jog through routes before the game?

Maybe this whole thing is a ruse. They used a minor injury to hide the awesome talent from the Broncos so they can't game plan. You don't need to disclose injuries in the preseason so they didn't say anything. Behind closed doors Flacco and Perriman have been practicing and getting in sync. Perriman is playing the part of wounded duck walking out in pre-game drills but is actually 100% healthy.

Conspiracy theory much or truth? Hmmm.....

Asa:  Often hurt, can't cover, and a liability on returns, not a difficult decision at all if it was up to me.

A. Brown: I really don't think he's behind Orr as far as their play at ILB. I think they're pretty much the same player.

Brown just needs to get his head out his butt on S/T.

wake the heck up on S/T.

Wow, Perriman's health is concerning. Can't believe he is still out and only walking through routes. Was hoping to see him out there week one, but looks more like week 4 or later.

IDK.... I think Authur Brown is a no brainer... he stays. I think the WR posisiton will be interesting and I think that the CB position will be interesting.. I really don't expect any other big surprises... maybe McClellan let go... I just don't see too much drama in the cuts this year. KLM will be interesting but nobody being cut or staying do I expect to see a major impact from either way! At least not this year. I would like to see us keep C Vaughn, D Waller, and KLM...I think that means some tough decisions on players like Butler, ASA and Bikuidi but I think the upside of the first three is much bigger then the potential of the 2nd 3. I also think that if there is a surprise keep this year it is Daniel Brown or Nick Perry! Those two could be the Cinderella story of camp 2015... with Daniel Brown in the lead!

I agree cut Asa and keep either Vaughn or Pointer both did better in coverage. Ravens will keep 4 of the 5 inside linebackers. Last spot is up to Brown or McClellan. Up to Brown's potential (he looked great last night but a non factor every other game) or McClellan who is versatile and a great special teams player.

If Waller or Butler could return punts or kick offs they would be a lock for the team. Just goes to show how much special teams can help a player and smart young players line up for every opportunity to play special teams that they can.

Too funny!

I needed a good laugh to start my weekend.

Thanks

I don't know why but Daniel Brown last night reminded me of a young Jordy Nelson on offense. That said I still don't think he makes the roster cut, but will be on the practice squad this year and possibly next year he won't be nearly as raw with his routes and will improve a little. He had an exceptional game last night but I don't think he showed any more than the 6 locks in my head for receiver.

Carl Davis has been a real stand out. Davis is making plays all over the field, which is a huge statement about what a key contributor he will be to the defense. What a great future is in store for this kid. Impressive, dominant preseason....and Davis will only get better.

I don't know what games people are watching but Zach Orr is hands down better than A Brown. Than big return was Brown not tackling and the Washington he game up 2 15 yards runs being out of position and getting ran over.

I think Perriman is fine their just being extra cautious because of his prior knee issues. The same way the Rams are doin with Gurley. Perriman is the future here we can't just throw him out there early and possibly ruin his career just because of some preseason experience. He has plenty of time to gain reps. I say sit him as long as we need to nobody will remember this when he is out there making plays.

Way to go Sarah Ellison. Your articles are always in-depth and action packed. All of that and your also easy on the eyes. Great job!

I wouldn't be surprised if the Ravens put Perriman on the PUP list for return after game six. I don't see how he could be much more than an over the top decoy for the first few games anyway.

If Jah Reid or Ryan Jensen are cut I don't see either of them clearing waivers. I bet they are working on a trade involving one of them (hopefully Reid).

It's hard enough to swallow that Brady serves no punishment for cheating. Now Brady is portrayed by the media as the "Avenging Angel", do-gooder, reluctant activist on behalf of all the players for taking on the NFL? The NFL messing up disciplinary consequences and/or Goodell abusing power has completely overshadowed the real issue of Brady cheating and failing to cooperate. How can a cheater be spinned from villian to hero in 24 hours by the media? Gag me out and SMH.

its too late for that.  Since he particpated in training camp he is no long eligable for the PUP list.  The only option is IR designated to return.  But you can only do that with one player and I think he has to be out 8 weeks.

I'm very upset with this Brady thing. Now I have to go to school and listens to all those guys who said Brady didn't do anything wrong. I guess they're allowed to cheat and I'm sure there be be more cheating.

Perriman will be back and involved in the lineup by week 3, if I'm optimistic maybe he'll get a few snaps in week 2.

I'll be happy when I know who will return kicks and punts for the 2015 Baltimore Ravens. Ozzie get on your job sir; we know you're real surgical with this b...

You know why I am not worried about our receivers? Yes we may not have a #1 target but by postseason the Ravens did very well rotating the receivers and spreading the ball around. We don't have superstars but we will be fine. Most our receivers run a 4.3 or a 4.4. That is why I am not afraid of letting Perriman get healthy. His ceiling is too valuable to risk at this point. Ravens offense will be just as productive as last year if not more productive. We have bigger guys and size does matter in the NFL. Our defense is healthy (for now), so our offense doesn't have to score 30 points a game to win. We are a balanced football team and one of the most well rounded in the NFL and that is what wins championships. Ask the Patriots against the Seahawks. They weren't nearly the best in the offensive or defensive category. Neither was the Baltimore Ravens of 2013. What matters is the depth on this team steps up when needed. We rest players who need to be rested for games that matter more down the road.

Did he not get hurt the first day?

Prior Knee Issues? Number one pick? This gets better and better.

Yeah, I don't remember if it was the first official day, or the first day open to the media, but I know it was that first week.

Perriman can take as long as he needs. As long as our Oline is blocking up front and creating holes for Forsett our passing game will be just fine.
