Merged....You Ready for Some (Regular Season) Football?

57 posts in this topic

The time has come to start talking about the glorious regular season. Our oline will be healthy and our offense should be firing on all cylinders. I'm beyond excited to see the boys play.

We match up well with the Broncos. Win or lose it should be a good game :)

if were healthy i like our odds against anyone.

although i am absolutely worried about our wr corps, im sure they dont plan on starting waller, and if thats the case, then wheres the speed? i dont see you being able to beat denvers secondary without speed, i hope perriman gets healthy soon..

besides that though, i feel good, if buck allen plays like he did in PW4 instead of the first 3 preseason games then we will be ok without LT for now.

yeah, if buck allen plays like he did against a bunch of 3rd stings then he'll be great! lol

A little concerned about TEs. Other than that, I am really excited to see what this team will do this season. Fingers crossed that we can be lucky enough to not have near as many injuries this year as last. Let's play some football! GO RAVENS!!!

T.J. Ward out of this one.  That leaves David Bruton Jr and Darian Stewart as their starting safeties according to the current depth charts.  I would love for #18 to be activated for this game at the least if he's ready of course.

Manning and his rotating o-line could be a wild factor, no telling how that might pan out of them.  I liked how our first time offense looked in most of the preseason games.

Peyton gets rid of the ball quickly. The oline will present issues in other ways(the running game will probably be exposed). D.Thomas and Sanders both pose issues but I'm not really scared of Daniels or Anderson.

That defense is going to give us fits.

I live out here in Denver, and you're absolutely right.  Peyton get rid of the ball stupid-fast.  That's why I was so bummed out when Jernigan went down.  He's the self-sack king of the  NFL.  Pressure through the middle gives him fits, and Jernigan has been camping out there pretty much every healthy game he has played recently.  Ughhhh....

Who is questionable for week 1 at this point? Perriman, Jernigan, Taliaferro... anyone else of note? We don't even know why Maxx is out, do we?

I think the only thing I'm really uncertain about is our WR play.

and people here will still holler about "a lack of pass rush "

we have a lot of home games 2nd half of season....beat-up teams coming into b-more should give us an advantage. We need to take advantage of this year for home-field advantage for overall number 1 seed come playoff time. NFL gave us a gift....

I agree with this. This is why I am already prepared to be patient and not panicked IF we lose some early games. As long as we don't fall too far into a hole early, we should be able to turn it on and go on a run after the bye week. 4-3 is what I'm hoping for by the time we come back from our second two-week West coast trip. I'll feel very good about our chances if we hit that mark.

denver has made it clear that they want to take the load off of peyton, his arm is basically incapable to throwing the ball far, but he can still get just enough velocity to effectively pick apart the right defense, i think the key to winning this is dictating the game plan. denver looks to have a nasty running game, they could lead the league on the ground this year, but if our front seven can make their gameplan 1-dimensional then i like our odds on defense.

offense however, errr idk. if our line is playing close to 100% then i think our run game does well, and i think the keys to the passing game against denver is play action, i think crockett and smitty are the guys our passing game will revolve around this week, if crockett can exploit the lack of TJ ward out there, and if smitty can beat talib the same way he seems to beat EVERY "elite" cb he faces, then our passing game could be steady. however, the lack of speed worries me against an elite secondary like denvers.

Also in Denver... Do you get the feeling there's a lot less hype this year than there has been since Manning came along?

Funny how that blind optimism was wrecked in both 2012 and 2013.

Yeah, they're really nervous about how poor Manning looked in the pre-season in the new system.  Meh.  That's Peyton Manning, he'll be okay in any system.  But, yes.  I do feel like there's a bit of apprehension around here.  Fine by me.  Have to listen to Big Al and DMac on the radio talk trash all this week.  ;)

Does anyone remember the name Kubiak? He knows our offense better than our WR's do. Denver's defense runs the show in this game. Without a deep threat unfortunately this game is a laugher.  34-10 Denver

As you pointed out in the other thread, Trestman is running the offense, not Kubiak - they don't call games the same way. Let's also not forget that our defense practiced against that offense for a lot longer than Denver's - one could say that our Defense knows Kubiak's offense better than Payton (the whole Denver offense for that matter) does.

Let's also not forget that for the purposes of your "deep threat" analysis, you cited Julian Edelman as such a threat. If that's the case, Steve Smith is an even better deep threat. You can't have it both ways.

He said Gronkowski was as well. Hahahahahahaha!

Seems like some want to focus on one small part of what is a much bigger picture. In this case I most assuredly would love to see my Ravens  have an amazing year but the deficiencies in this young team are too much to ignore. If we started with John Harbaugh's "dear in the headlights" look and his pretending not to know what exactly is going on with Perriman one has to ask the proverbial question , " Who is in charge here"? and we have to assume something is just not right!  :baltimore-ravens:

2014 playoff game- gronk/edelman/amendola combined for more than 250 yds and 3 td's ! Each of which was more than 50 yds. You probably think Jimmy Graham isn't a deep threat either. BTW why aren't you bandwagonning for Ray Rice to return to Baltimore. Sheesh

Well by that logic, Steve Smith had an 80 yard touchdown in week 1 last year, Deep threat!!!

Again, like last time you stated this to me, what are you taking about?

Edit - Seeing you're fairly slow, since when does one game make a deep threat?

At almost 40 Smith could hardly be considered a deep threat but every dog has to get a bone and Smith will have plenty of them this year since he is our only real weapon!
