[News] Late For Work 9/3: Joe Flacco Most Underappreciated QB In Football

62 posts in this topic

I am livid at the court decision that lifts Brady's 4 game suspension. How is that even possible? I don't care what nonsense justification comes out of the judge's mouth, that's a pathetic outcome and a black eye for the integrity of the game.

Well, I guess we must assume it was a fair trial. It would be a stretch to assume that Brady somehow bought the judge or that the judge was somehow partial...

Law doesn't always coincide with one's ethical standpoint... In other words, law can sometimes be unfair. It's still the law.

Coach better let Crockett sit during this game. He has showed what he can do.

Well, since Maxx Williams still practiced in the non-contact jersey yesterday, he'll hardly play. And, since Pitta and Reuland are injured, we only have two TE's on the roster - and Boyle is not really a catching TE. That means Gillmore may see playing time regardless of being a starter.

TBH, I don't know which is the more strange scenario: a starter playing in the fourth pre-season game, or us playing the whole game with only one TE on the roster... Both are far from ideal...

As far as the #2/3 RB I think we'll either stay in house with Toussaint or Magee, or we'll wait until the final round of cuts to grab someone. No real reason to trade for a guy or rush to sign someone at this point. I imagine it'd be a vet rather than Ball because we have 2 young guys as it is, no need to add another to the mix.

New motivation to win the division title, to face the Pats here at home in the playoffs. Joe, light it up. Fans, I fantasize the loudest "CHEATER" chant every time Brady takes the field. Let the court of public opinion be heard in the stadiums across this country and let Baltimore fans at M&T stadium be the ones to break the fan sound record and bump those cheaters out of the playoffs.

I admit it does get frustrating as heck the amount of injuries this team suffers season after season for the last several years. Every year including this one, the health of this team is the first thing I pray for, and that prayer is never seems to be well answered.

I disagree. The law is often interpreted differently by different judges and another legal issue can be stressed by a separate judge, thus resulting in 1 judge ruling 1 way, a different judge another way. In some ways, judges

are partial in their interpretation of the law, some are conservative, some liberal. Our own Supreme Court regularly has different rulings, dissents and opinions. Appeal Hearings overturn the decision of another judges' prior ruling every day. I cannot presume that judges always get it right and that the courts are a place where rulings always have the right and fair outcome because that is not necessarily so. If the NFL appeals, this decision could be overturned so we shall see if the NFL bothers to pursue this maddening farce. Time will tell.

Joe is John Unitas and Cal Ripken wrapped in one. Calm, cool, and collective is his hallmark on and off the field.

I heard of these guys but had to look them up to see that you have given Joe maybe the best compliment he has ever had. Both these guys were great in two different sports.

The court decision regarding Brady is good for us; even though I thoroughly disagree with it. He'll be playing against Pittsburgh, not the rookie backup.

If Taliafero is going to be out for awhile, I'd keep Magee. Don't waste money or a trade for a worthless RB. We might need an OL or CB instead. Also, I heard that the judge has Brady on his fantasy football team. lol.

Brady's backup is not a rookie.

Not anymore he isn't...... Not only does his salary now pale in comparison to many others, his guaranteed base salary is less than most of the "top paid" players in the NFL. Plus, there are several QB's that now make more than him, and they haven't even made it to very many playoff games if any. He is absolutely one of the most under-rated players in the NFL, period.

In my opinion, he has more than earned his salary as our QB, and hopefully has many more years as our franchise quarterback. Go Ravens !!!! :)

Isn't he pretty much slated to sign w/  Seahawks.

Last I heard they were dancing around it, and it was pretty much a done deal...BUT we got Dumervil off that fax screwup so I figure we can snatch players that we really want.

oh man if tyrod could manage the bills LOADED roster into a solid playoff run and play smart(running to pick up first downs when needed, effectively managing the game, limiting turnovers) and we got a 3rd round comp pick? that would be sick!

Most media guys are Pro Steeler and Patriot trolls, Starting when the Ravens came to Baltimore from Cleveland, bashing and hating on the Ravens was (and still is) a popular pastime for most network folk. If Flacco was on almost any other team he would have received the praise he deserves for his accomplishments. Hopefully this is the beginning to change as these "network Raven hater dinosaurs" retire. Flacco is a top 5 QB whether they acknowledge that or not. GO RAVENS!

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I thought comp picks were for rounds 4 and lower?

3rd and lower.

For what its worth, one of the biggest drivers of comp pick formula is the players contract, so I wouldn't be expecting to get a 3rd round pick for Tyrod, who isn't making that much.

Its possible that Tyrod's compensation will be so low that we might not get anything for him.

I'd say, given the history I reviewed of recent comp picks, I'd say a 5th is probably the ceiling for what we would get for Tyrod, regardless of production.

This "elite" talk is getting old. Nobody cares, anymore. It's not news. Montana could hoist Flacco on his shoulders and proclaim him King of the World and, still, nobody would care. His productivity and success is well-documented. His STATS are well-documented. There's nothing more to be said about it. Yawn.

"Joe Flacco Most Underappreciated QB In Football" Not Ravens fans! Especially the ones that waited 10 years for Joe to get here.

I couldn't care less about stats.  It's all about the jewelry.  "Let's go get a ___ ring!"  (Hey, my first post.  Yay me.)
