[News] Who's Playing, Who's Not vs. Falcons

Is it safe to say that perriman probably won't go wk 1? He must be super rusty. I just hope his injury isn't severe enough to where he is put on PUP.

Since he participated in practice, he's not eligible for the PUP.

Indeed, it would seem unlikely that he'd be playing game 1. Honestly, I've given up on even trying to guess when we're going to see him again, let alone when he's going to be game ready. Easily the #1 most frustrating camp/preseason situation.

No starters are gonna play - luckily...

What I don't know is why the starters have to travel to Atlanta if they are not gonna play anyway... I know, traditions, team spirit and all - but we are gonna start off the season with a loooooong, two-stop road show the next week. The starters could surely do with - and would certainly welcome - one less - meaningless - travel to Atlanta...

Because they're a team and they can also help coach the bubble players on what to do.

What I really meant was anybody that participates in the regular season - are part of the 45 that suit up for Denver. I'm sure a good number of those potential 45 starters will have to play against Atlanta. The numbers don't work out if they don't play against Atlanta. I want them to take care of their health is what I really meant.

I am totally for having starting offense and defensive players with families to have the option to stay back with their families. I think it is a great idea to let them have family time before the grueling regular season starts with 2 weeks on the west coast.

That's if the Ravens have the cap. We're still operating under the rule of 51, but once those cuts happen and the PS is made, you're looking at paying all the players on the PUP, IR, PS, and the 53 man roster. It's gonna be tight

According to Brian McFarland "Ravens r now $7.5M under Cap (RuleOf51), but once season starts & everyone counts, will likely be more like $3.5-4.5M"

You can still add a couple players with in the neighborhood of $4M in cap space.

Definitely can. I'd imagine maybe one and keep some for emergency.

I was looking at some of the players Cut so far couple names stood out T.Holliday PR/KR the explosive returner that singlehandedly was schooling our STs in the Denver playoff game couple years back. Since nobody has really claimed the returners jobs outside one solid play from Asa, they could go with more of a sure thing from outside.. Like a T.Holliday or someone of that ilk.

Phil Taylor 1st rnd pick got cut by Browns D Line if they thought Jernigans injury was lingering and needed more depth.

Then find a WR for insurance since its essentially Steve Smith and the question marks with Perriman injury.

Not happy Phil Taylor is taking his physical in Pit, and Holiday is a no brainer if we don't go after him, proven KR/PR.....

Play Renner start to finish. If the kid is going to the practice squad give him a big send off. Who knows? He may have the game of his life and move Schaub off the roster.

This probably won't happen I guess because the Ravens don't want other teams to get too interested in him if he goes great and maybe pluck him off PS.  Also with Joe being Mr Indestructible, this game is probably (hopefully) going to be the most snaps Schaub will see all season.  I definitely think the kid (Renner) has shown flashes and has the potential to be more than just a single-preseason practice meat guy.

If the NFL isn't going to allow the players to hit each other hard during practice, then go out to a game and get all banged up... and then on top of all that have all these concussion procedures...I think it is time for the NFL to re-evaluate how many players a team can have on the regular season roster and also increase the cap to accommodate this.

Doesn't really solve anything though...

1. If you increase the number of players, what does that solve? Sure, you have more depth, but the quality of play decreases dramatically. If the 65th guy on your roster is playing meaningful snaps, you're kind of screwed. We as fans spend an entire season bashing like half of a 53 man roster anyway... you think adding 5 more players is all of the sudden going to make our team a lot better? There's a lot of Chykie Brown's in that group...

2. You can't increase the cap, because that's agreed upon under the CBA.

There is no real solution to this. Injuries are going to happen. Always have. Always will. Regardless of how many padded practices you are allowed to have.

My partial solution/help for this issue is this. I have been wondering it for years and still never heard a good reason for it. You have a 53 man roster. Why can't all 53 dress for every game? It makes no sense to have a 53 man roster PLUS a practice squad and not be able to dress all 53. Why the mandatory inactives? They are on the roster so they are getting paid. So it is not a cap issue.

Maybe one of you guys have brought it up and have heard the answer and can share. But it is one of those rules that just baffle me.

Wishing my son the best in tonites game and good luck on the final cuts of the preseason #63

That's awesome! You gotta be proud, no matter what happens. To even be in the mix is an amazing thing. Too many fans don't realize what it takes to be out there.

Best of luck to your boy!

Some may argue that we don't need him, but if you've watched PIT play recently, they need all the D help they can get.

Terrible to have to pick Pats over Steelers first game but can not afford Steelers to win. Cheaters win again I guess. Chaps my butt that Brady gets off scott free but nothing I can do about it. Go Ravens.

You will drive yourself crazy thinking about it. It is what it is, unfortunately sometimes cheaters do win.

Ahh, ok. I didn't know that.

In regards to perriman, i just hope that situation doesn't end up like the kevin white situation the bears are currently dealing with. The ravens will need his speed this season for sure.
