[News] Who's Playing, Who's Not vs. Falcons

I actually like the 4th preseason game. If you are someone who likes to see the conclusion of major position battles (ILB, WR), or if you just like seeing who could be a developmental prospect on the PS, then this is a good game to watch.

Play Renner start to finish. If the kid is going to the practice squad give him a big send off. Who knows? He may have the game of his life and move Schaub off the roster.

Its unfortunate that perriman did not get the opportunity to play In any preseason games, I'm sure he really wants to be out there, I don't even think he will play vs the broncos tbh, hopefully he can return some time this season. If not were gonna be some dink and dunk passing sunuvva guns which is fine by me as long as we win.

Still think we could use a signing or two of some vets.

I'm all but certain this will happen. About 480 players got cut the last caouple of days - though the vast majority of them were undrafted and late-round rookies. The big tide will be after the last pre-season round, when 704 players will be cut - and this time there will be vets amongst them, players that don't get cut because they're no good enough to play in the NFL, but because they were somehow expendable on their current roster...

That's when Ozzie's prime hunting season begins.

That wouldn't be a stupid thing to do - but Schaub can also use some extended playing time... Realistically, he's not gonna push Schaub off the #2 spot - but he doesn't need to. A season or two on the PS may do wonders.

That's if the Ravens have the cap. We're still operating under the rule of 51, but once those cuts happen and the PS is made, you're looking at paying all the players on the PUP, IR, PS, and the 53 man roster. It's gonna be tight

just take it easy starters. No point risking any more injuries to our starters. We've already had our share and more of them.

No starters are gonna play - luckily...

What I don't know is why the starters have to travel to Atlanta if they are not gonna play anyway... I know, traditions, team spirit and all - but we are gonna start off the season with a loooooong, two-stop road show the next week. The starters could surely do with - and would certainly welcome - one less - meaningless - travel to Atlanta...

Sure - but I don't think we need big money guys - assuming no injuries to key starters the next two weeks, of course. What we definitely seem to need is a return specialist - like Trindon Holliday who's recently been cut in Oakland... - and maybe a veteran RB to back up Forsett. And I'm quite sure there are gonna be veteran RB's available who'll be illing to come to play backup for the veteran minimum - or not much more. And I think we can get those two under the cap without having to sacrifice anyone or restructure any current deals.

Is it safe to say that perriman probably won't go wk 1? He must be super rusty.

That would be my bet, too, at this point.

And it's not only the rustm but also the presumable lack of chemistry with Flacco.

I wouldn't take Holliday and I've actually been very high on the idea of Jennings or Taylor, but Fred Jackson wouldn't bother me.

I honestly just don't know where the Ravens will stand on cap at the moment. It can't be that high

Pierre Thomas is still out there. I don't know if Buck Allen is ready for the #2 job and Thomas has always been efficient and a productive pass catcher as well.

That would be too good to be true IMHO... to get him as Forsett's backup...

I just don't really get how the guy is still out when there are teams in need of proven vet RB's... Is there something about him we don't know? An injury maybe? It's just insane and improbable that such a guy is on the street while teams like the Browns are still trying to prove any of their guys is the real deal...

Well, to be honest, I'm not overly familiar with Hollyday's recent stats, but I sure remember his two reutrn-for-6'es from the Super Bowl season :)

I just cannot imagine Harbaugh or Rosburg are satisfied with any our curent returner candidates... When they're experimenting with brand new guys in the second (Tom Nelson) and third week (Magee) pre-season games it must mean they are still searching...

Apparently he and Flacco hit it off pretty well in training camp.

Honestly, I'd have no issue with playing him. Even if he's not running at a 4.2 speed, he's still gotta be in the 4.3's and that's speed the Ravens just don't have at the moment. That's the type of speed that can definitely open up things for Gilmore, Steve, Camp, and company. If he's healthy enough to run and take a couple hits, I'd play him, even if he's just a distraction

As far as I know, he's been with five teams since then, and judging by his stats, he's not doing much.

Plus, you have to consider he's like 5'5" and unlike someone like Sproles or Archer who are also small, Holliday was a wide receiver by trade and won't offer anything on offense. So, he'd be taking a spot solely as a returner. Even Jacoby at least offered the occasional big play.

No, I don't think Rosburg and Harbs are happy, but I don't think the answer lies in Holliday

I use to say "it's Tyrod Taylor season" but now let's just see the up and comers and see how brite and promising the future will be!

My guess is the Williams injury happened in the game where he tried to hurdle a defender again and took a good helmet shot to the ribs. Probably a broken rib or at least severe bruising. You could tell he was in serious pain when he left the game. He needs to learn to. Keep his feet on the ground unless the game is on the line. We will find out soon enough because starting next week Harbaugh has to report all injuries.

The Ravens have the 2nd highest injuries in the league. Why? Is this cyclical or our turn? What are they doing wrong? We go from being stacked and to thinking our team is strong to now worried about our depth if starters go down. It's been strange not only with players but getting killed two games in a row. I know these are fake games but still? I am hoping were just not showing our hand and come out smoking hot in Denver with our secret weapon Perriman. We need his speed. Waller was quite against the Redskins hoping to see more...
