Whats your WR lineup?

131 posts in this topic

There has been a lot of talk about these guys and the competition in the Pre-season but who would you prefer make the 53 man roster at WR? Here are my choices to start off....

11 Aiken, Kamar WR              6-2         215        26           3             Central Florida

*Has potential but tends to vanish in games. If the other WR's, TE, and running game can come on early in the season and during games, Aiken will get open from time to time and make plays but will need someone to take some of the defensive eyes off his way to do so possibly.

83 Brown, Daniel WR            6-5         225        23           R             James Madison

*Trestmen likes big WR, here is one right here. To infuse more mismatches for the offense benefit, Brown could help when in redzone and short down gains. As you saw in his preseason TD, had great ability to catch the ball high over the defender and shield the ball from contact and other defenders to get the score. He is young and you can never have too many big guys streaking downfield.

14 Brown, Marlon WR          6-5         214        24           3             Georgia                                   *Hoping to prove those 7TDs were not a fluke, Marlon will have to step up and with his ability to catch backside throws and streak across the deep middle, Marlon could provide some more help where the Ravens had a really hard time scoring the last few seasons, the redzone.

15 Campanaro, Michael WR               5-9         185        24           2             Wake Forest

Flacco's own personal Wes Welker type slot WR. This kid can play KR, PR, and is hard to play against in a zone or man to man. Quick off the line, expect him to pick up those sneaky yards going across the field and sitting in the zone open spots. He is going to make life hard on safeties and LBs trying to cover him.

18 Perriman, Breshad WR    6-2         212        21           R             Central Florida

*Torrey 2.0 and 1st RND pick.......................need I say more?

89 Smith Sr., Steve WR         5-9         195        36           15           Utah

*The best WR we have on the team by a long shot.............................period.

12  Waller, Darren WR           6-6         240        22           R             Georgia Tech

*The reason I kept 7 WRs in my pick instead of 6. With his size and speed, and smarts given his high wonderlic test scores, there is some serious potential that can be unlocked with this kid and once it is, look out, you add him, Max, and our running game, its gonna be pretty hard to stop all three.

I like 7 WRs on the roster this year due to constant injury from camp and SSS pending retirement next year. So with that in mind, what say you Ravens faithful?????

My WRs would be the same as yours minus Daniel Brown.  I doubt he's done enough to force the team to keep 7.  Considering Trestman plans to use the RBs more in the passing game, and we have some pretty good TEs, there's really no reason to keep more than 6 WRs.

I think there's pretty much 6 locks at this point...

Smith, Perriman, Aiken, Campanero, Brown and Waller.

Daniel Brown and Tom Nelson seem like PS candidates (although I'm not sure if Nelson is technically eligible for the PS).  They'll try to get Butler on the PS if they don't keep 7 WR's on the roster.  I think Butler is probably going to play A LOT tomorrow to see if he shows up or not.

Daniel Brown is not making the team lol. PS candidate for sure though.

Easy. Only Debate is keep 7 or 6.

1. SSS

2. Perriman

3. Aiken

4. Campanaro

5. Butler

6. Marlon

7. Waller

or

1. SSS

2. Perriman

3. Aiken

4. Campanaro

5. Marlon

6. Waller

Butler is the only guy truly on the bubble. Waller makes it off draft position and inability to put him on PS.

One nice overhead catch showing strong hands and he's suddenly making the team? Lol I'll eat my words if he does but I doubt this happens.

I agree, I was just keeping in mind Camps injury problems, as well as Perrimen, and Steve Smiths retirement for next year. Not to say we couldnt just reload next year since I heard the WR class in 2016 is gonna be insane.

What are the qualifications for PS? I may have to google that one....

It's times like these when more developmental types like Waller experience mystery injuries and end up on IR.  Not that I'm advocating that - he has shown what I think is enough to be able to contribute this season.  Although I haven't seen any end zone jump balls involving him yet.

Guys have to remember that WR's 5-7, or even 4-7 because the Ravens typically only go 3 WR at one time, those last guys need to play special teams and excel at it. That's why I wouldn't be surprised to see Waller come down with the flu/hamstring soon and be placed on the I.R. I just don't see him contributing much on special teams.

I used to love the phantom injuries landing guys on IR but I never once saw a player succeed from that process.

Pretty much.  Butler was one player I thought would beat the odds since he was getting nothing but great reviews in camp and practice.........and then the preseason games happened and crushed all hope there

That really isn't a bad idea. Obviously he will make the 53 if we don't IR him but he would likely be a game day inactive to start the season. He isn't a great ST'er so there is an argument for IR'ing him. My gut tells me we won't though.

No way the Ravens keep 7 WRs and Daniel Brown definitely won't be among the 6.

Smitty, Perriman, Brown, Camp, Aiken and Waller are the guys barring injury.

Looking at the offense in games it'll be a ton of 2TE sets and even Juice will split out wide at times. Trestman will look to take advantage of team's base package. This will reduce opportunities for WRs IMO but they will still have a large impact obviously. Right now I see it the same as I've seen it from the beginning. Smitty will be #1 and the other guys will see action in packages. Aiken will start off but I don't think he'll have a ton of snaps above Brown and Camp. That snap total will lessen once Perriman returns.

It'll be WR by committee imo

But if you IR him then he's not allowed to practice and him being used as that big bodied #1 WR in practice vs Jimmy Smith will do more for him then even spot duty in games will. Waller needs to develop not just stand on the sidelines in both practice and games.

The only wr I can remember that working with was Victor Cruz. Besides that...

Honestly, the "IR/Stash" is a horrible idea, especially for a player you want to develop.  The best place for a player to gain experience in on the field.  The 2nd best place is in practice.  When you IR a player, they obviously can't play in games but they can't even practice either.  They can only do film study and work out in the weight room.

If the team really wants to develop Waller for next year (or later this year), put him on the 53 and make him one of the inactives so he can continue to practice.  He's already proving to be a quick learner

I agree, that's why I said my gut feeling is we don't. Was just saying there is at least an argument for it if the coaches feel he is still in a very developmental stage and/or are concerned with our special teams personnel. I think Waller has shown enough though that he is too valuable to not be practicing. If we dealt with any injuries at WR Waller would be a top candidate to step up and see some action.

Daniel Brown and Tom Nelson have no chance of making the 53 man roster.

I also doubt they keep a 7th WR, which means Butler will be on the PS another season. He would have to have some kind of phenomenal performance in game 4 to make a push.

SS89, Perriman, Camp, Aiken, Brown, & Waller are all locks.

In no order, SSS, Camp, Waller, Brown, Aiken, Perriman

Seems pretty clear to me that this is where we land. I really don't think we carry 7.

Yup, that's it.  That was quick.

1.) Steve Smith Sr.: Like you said, our best WR on the team.

2.) Kamar Aiken: Breakout player in Camp, outperformed everyone else and benefited heavily from Perrimans absence.

3.) Breshad Perriman: Troubles with injuries and quiet honestly a bit raw, it'll take him time to get acclimated to the NFL.

4.) Michael Campanaro: Shows play making and reliability. NEEDS TO STAY HEALTHY....PLEASE!--Bright Future.

5.)  Marlon Brown: Hasn't done much thus far.

6.) Darren Waller: Up-Down, but quiet impressive recently. Should have a place here in B-More.

I doubt Daniel Brown makes it. I'm guessing we go with 6 WRs as of now.

I liked Waller a lot since we drafted him. I'm all for having a huge WR on the team. I think he can be really good. He reminds me of Boldin so much in size but yet faster. Well at least on the field. He has had a strong pre-season and I love it. I want him to be a Raven.

The only argument I have is that people keep saying "trouble with injuries" for Perriman... he's had the one...

This is gonna be a tough one for coaches with Butler and Brown out there.
