[News] Eisenberg: Don't Be Surprised If Ravens' Ozzie Newsome Makes A Move

83 posts in this topic

Ozzie knows how to make the offseason fun for fans. Never know whos going to be signed. D. Smith, S. Smith Sr.. were both excellent additions. Hopefully K. Lewis will fall into this category.

To be honest, Kendrick Lewis has so far been a disappointment in the pre-season... He didn't really show anything that would jump out of the tape...

Let's hope he won't turn out to be the next Michael Huff.

Yeah, I've been pretty disappointed as well. I wasn't expecting a lot, but I was expecting better than what I've seen. Of course, it is early and he could just be getting his feet under himself at the moment.

I was hoping he was going to be an upgrade over Darian Stewart ... Hopefully he doesn't fall into Huff territory. If that happens and Brooks doesn't come around fast, that could be a disaster.

"don't be surprised if ozzie makes a move." seriously! i would be surprised if ozzie DIDN'T make a move. the young blood coming in can't tackle, look lost and seem to get to need a map to run a route. at the beginning of camp the paper version of the team look like the ravens could run away with it this year. after watching these preseason games the hunger was not their. i was hoping for brown to become a top notch receiver, as he has shown sparks of the possibility. i was hoping for a defensive secondary. still waiting...

injuries have saved some players for another year like elam, urban, pitta and webb. before you throw me under the nest droppings, think about it. heart strings keep pitta and webb. money invested keeps elam. urban is the only true unknown. at some time, mistakes have to be acknowledged.

I would think Brooks is rather a strong safety than a free safety. Yeah, here's hoping Kendrick will start playing better in the regular season...

Very true. But to be fair there's not a lot of big plays to be shown in 4 quarters of play (1Q first 2 games & 2Q last game), especially for a safety. I'm intrested to see what they can do during the regular season. When he has a chance to show more consistent play.

I'm 100% with you on the M. Huff statement.

I was trying to be nice wth the "nothing jumps off the tape" wording... What I really meant is that he seemed a bit overwhelmed out there...

Add some depth on that d line and just wait for perriman to return, if he ends up not working out, we just need to spend the money and get that #1 wr.

Let's see if the wizard pulls the trigger on any one. He has done it in the past with good results. I just hope all our guys can get healthy before week 1.

Will he make a move, how much money we have left?

The Ravens have 82 contracts so far. Looks like the Ravens have close to $9 million left (Includes dead money but am not sure if that is updated after Hill's contract) I use this web site to see how much money the Ravens have under salary cap, here is the link - http://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space/

We have absolutely no one that can consistently stretch the field at WR, we need a speedster for sure. Brown and Aiken are more possession type WRs, if we can get a legitimate deep ball threat, I'd be open to bringing in a receiver. Idk, from the looks of all of our preseason games, our secondary still needs fine tuning too, they are all out of sync. Hopefully we get ready before heading to Mile High!

For kick returner, if it turns out we don't like where we are headed I hope Ozzie sees that Trindon Holliday has been released and we should take a look at him. I don't know about you guys but I remember both the punt and kick return for TD's against us in the playoffs. I wouldn't mind some of that. Just a thought.

We should've kept jacoby jones. He had a down year but was a deep threat an him an joe were on the same page. Campanaro would be a nice reciever but he's not reliable an marlon an Aiken can't create separation consistently. We should've picked up james jones an chris Johnson for cheap earlier this year.

If Ozzie makes a move??

I'd be disappointed if he didn't make a move!

In the past two years, Ozzie has quietly put together a young solid foundation to build around. I say he did exceptional with what he had. And that was with his hands tied behind his back with all the injuries and dead money. Just to keep things simple, hes had 2 great drafts and stolen a few gems in FA that he should get arrested for. D.Smith, Forsett, W.Hill, and the list goes on..... Every year around this time, Ozzie has rewarded us with a legit starter. One year it was Monroe and the next was Zuttah. Doom was just icing on the cake as the Broncos screwed up and Ozzie came flying.

I expect another trade and it could be anywhere in the secondary as this unit has star power in Hill and J.Smith. It just needs one more solid guy that doesn't make mistakes. In a perfect world, Id make a run at someone like Kam Chancellor who is on the block and would instantly make this secondary one of the best in the NFL. But realistically speaking, we could move for someone like Husain Abdullah who played great for the Chiefs when they had injuries and is now excess of requirement.

Iv read reports regarding the Ravins and Fred Jackson. That means LT will miss some time. I'm hoping Fred signs for the Seahawks. I don't see how he can help this team? I would take a good look at Trent Richardson and Steven Jackson who are sitting at home. They can both potentially fill the void LT left in short yard situations. I swear Steven Jackson can teach LT a few things by the end of the year.

Dline was our deepest position before pre season started but injuries have taken a toll. Carl Davis may not be ready to step up as a starter by opening day but I'll take my chances with B.Williams C.Canty and Jernigan untill either Carl and KLM breaks through. Yes I said it. KLM is looking better every week.

Oline is set in my opinion. All i hope for is that J.Ried gets bumped to the practice squad and a vet comes in to backup our starters in case of serious injuries.

WR is where I'm skeptical. I was and still remain Perrimans #1 fan. I'm also a realist when I believe that hell have growing pains. Hes never had an NFL snap and transitioning from UCF to the AFC North is no easy task. I hope hes healthy and gets the NFL before the playoffs come and he can contribute then. Untill then, IDK if we can roll with SSS and no Camp or Perriman and an underachieving group of WRs. Im really intrigued at what will happen within the next 5 days.

RMC, BIO, Alaskan, Joe Flac, Huntrg, Dorota

I would appreciate your input :)

How about giving Ray Rice a second chance . He'd be a lot better than Buck Allen .

As much as I agree that he would be a good signing, I don't think the organization will be viewed well bringing back someone who did a crime like that. Especially when the Ravens said they will never draft or sign someone with background like that. I think he has done enough to be able to come back in the NFL, especially since AP came back after beating his child, but I don't think he will ever be resigned with us unfortunately. Only reason AP is on a team for this season is because he is one of the best running backs ever to play the game and the Vikings know having him is the only way they can win.

I would be both surprised and disappointed if Ozzie Doesn't make a move for some help. Heck, I'm not even sure that there shouldn't be a couple of players brought in. We still have questions, perhaps weaknesses, at a returner, wr, CB, and possibly RB. Of course, this is just My opinion, which means nothing. But there's no question in my mind that Magee has looked better than Buck Allen. Buck has shown Nothing. CB, well, how much do you trust Webb to stay healthy? And how well has he played all the way back to right after he signed his big contract? I think we need another CB. I am definitely not happy with Asa being our returner, and I don't want Camp to do it because I think our best hope to even Try to keep him healthy is to use him strictly as a receiver, and we Do need him in the slot. And we need the wr because of Camp's and Perriman's health questions. Aiken and Brown have shown that they just cannot gain separation consistently. So, we can count on SSS and that's about it realistically. I think we've got some concerns. I'm still hopeful, but I'd like to see some tweaks made with our roster.

Think of triple safety coverages. Pees runs a hybrid 3-4 and having Will Hill, Kendrick Lewis, and Kam Chancellor on our back end. That would be insane. Already two of the best inside linebackers in the league and two of the best outside linebackers, if the defensive front stayed healthy we have Smith on the outside... That would be legit. I also agree Perriman when he comes back healthy will become a star. You know why? Baltimore usually never as their 1st pick start out with the starters. CJ Mosley last year had to work his way up for awhile. Seeing Perriman day one of training camps with the starters and picking him apart, along with his great film of saving Bortles' you know what several times, he can be the next Julio Jones. He can take his time coming back, it would be nice to have him but division games don't start till week 3 so he has time.

People were chanting him out the door. But remember when there was a time we actually could say there was a good chance a kick was going to be returned all the way? Now I'm ecstatic if Jackson makes it to at least the 25.

I will admit the returner situation does concern me but Jacoby Jones isnt the answer paying more money for a guy that cant catch as a receiver and was starting to get rattled as a returner his decision making on the field was questionable.
