My Annual 2015 Predictions and Final AFC North Standings

I'm of the mind that, if Perriman isn't the deep threat answer, we will not be a super bowl contender. I didn't think it meant we'd be 5-11.

However, I'm not willing to give up on Perriman quite yet

Well Periman is already a training camp and complete preseason behind and at this point has to be a not ready for prime time player in week 1 or 2.

The scenario would be somewhat different if we had an A.J. Green or Antonio Brown but even having a top flight WR is not gonna change our defensive issues which at this point I have to say are not fixable. We only have so many fingers to put in the dyke!

so explain the steelers defense..

dupree is rubbish..jones has shown nothing..the secondary is crap..

bell and bryant are out for the first several games..pouncey is out for most of the season

explain how they have a better chance of a better record when they have the hardest schedule in the NFL this year.

Of course I'm for real on this thread. For starters I would challenge anyone to name a team that is a proven winner that doesn't have a deep threat burner to keep defenses honest? Without that we have no arsenal other than Steve Smith and you can neutralize Smith with a cover 2 strategy. On top of that our run game is based on our ability to move the ball down the field and if we can't keep the defensive backs cleared out with our deep threats then they crowd the line and Forsett's real talent is when he gets to the 2nd tier. That's just for openers. We can talk defensive line if you want. Timmy Jernigan replaces Haloti Ngata ? In what universe? All-pro linebackers we have for sure but besides Dumervil we have no lights out pass rushers. Just can't count on Ladarius Webb anymore and if we lose one more DB well ? On top of that Marc Trestman is no Gary Kubiak for sure. Does anyone remember his dismal offensive juggernauts in Chicago. Does anyone think it strange that Cutler is still in Chicago while Trestman is not? So much more going on this year than meets the eye.

Name the last Superbowl winner that had a deep threat burner? Pats, nope. Seahawks, nope, Ravens, yes.

Joe will not go down without a fight but Joe can't wage war if he has no long range missles. Every great team throughout history has had at least one deep threat. Believe me Breshard Perriman is not that guy!

Like the Patriots last year?

...It's...Freaking....Preseason.

These games don't matter. At all. And the starters have played well in 2/3 games and the defense has not been bad. We have a good team. And Jernigan and Williams are both good replacements for Ngata and Canty is a good player. We don't have a #1 WR but we have a strong running game and good TEs. And a good WR in Steve Smith, and Perriman at the very worst is a deep threat. Secondary has been banged up. Whole preseason we've been banged up. We'll be fine. 5-11? No. Maybe if we lose Joe. But I don't see it.

Bell is out for 2 games and they have the deep threat which is so important to any offense being successful. I'm not saying the Steelers will be an AFC powerhouse in fact they wont even get to the playoffs. However because of their offensive weapons they will win more games than they lose.

they haven't got a good offensive line without pouncey. Antonio brown is their stud. There D line is non existent and so is their secondary. Ravens are a better team than the steelers and if you read my posts i'm not one to hype this team up.

Um what about Edelman? I would also consider Gronk a deep threat.

wizard.if and this is a big IF..if campanaro stays healthy i think he's the best slot receiver in the league...seriously..he's that good if he's not injured..but thats..well

After careful research based on certain scientfic priciples and known facts, I have formulated my somewhat famous and usually amazing predictions for the AFC North and the 2015 season and they are as follows, The Ravens are in a sharp decline, Flacco has no real deep threat. I believe Perriman will end up being an injury-prone washout. Our secondary is weak and good back-up personnel is non-exsistent. Our defensive line is pourous without Nagta and we don't have enough good healthy defensive line players for the shuffle in and out theory to be affective. We remain with excellent linebackers and a strong offensive line if they can stay healthy. Based on this the Ravens will finish 3rd in the AFC North behind the dreaded Bengals and Steelers with the Bengals winning the division. Here is how I believe our schedule will play out.

Are you kidding? The Seahawks had Golden Tate , Baldwin and Kearse. The Pats had Edelman and Gronk was a deep threat.

I do agree with you about Campanaro- He plays like Wes Welker. I love him when he plays but unfortunately we can't count on him!

Edelman averaged 10.6 yds/rec last year. By that standard, Steve Smith and his 13.5 yds/rec last year is a much bigger deep threat. Edelman, in fact, had a lower yd/rec than Aiken, Campanaro, Gilmore, and had the same as Marlon Brown.

Gronk is a TE, he can push it up the seam but it would be hard for me to call him a deep threat.

Edelman is their chain mover, averaged 10.6 yards per catch last year, an actual deep threat named Torrey Smith averaged 16.9

Beat me to it

Edelman was a deep threat the same way Jerome Bettis was a swing back that could play in the slot and beat defenders with his quick route-running.

Might as well be. Certainly doesn't seem to be about predictions.

We're learning the science behind the predictions. We need our leading receiver to lower his yards per catch to 10.6 to be considered a real deep threat, or else we're doomed to suffer through a five win season.

It is about my predictions about our team  and the AFC this year. Seems some just can't maintain focus.

How is it even possible to say this.  I love Camp and hope he becomes that but he hasnt shown any ounce of being the best slot guy in the nfl, you cant count a couple catches.  If its just a hunch then ok....i get it.

But Wiss

You last prediction was Pittsburgh would annihilate us in the game we won 26-6.

On the basis of your accuracy why should we believe your brand of shenanigans now?

Week 1 at Denver will be a loss

Week 2 at Oakland will be a win.

Week 3 Home Opener with Cincinnati will be a loss.

Week 4 At Pittsburgh will be a loss.

Week 5 Cleveland at home will be a win.

Week 6 At Niners will be a loss.

Week 7 at Phoenix will be a loss.

Week 8 San Diego at home will be a loss.

Week 9 Bye

Week 10 Jacksonville at home will be a win.

Week 11 St. Louis at home will be a win.

Week 12 at Cleveland will be a loss.

Week 13 at Miami will be a loss.

Week 14 Seattle at home will be a loss.

Week 15 Kansas City at home will be a loss.

Week 16 Pittsburgh at home will be a win.

Week 17  at Cincinnati will be a loss.

There you have it sports fans We have a down year and finish at 5 and 11. Cincinatti wins the division at 12 and 4. Pittsburgh finishes at 10 and 6 and does not get a wild card. Cleveland is only able to go 3 and 13.

The sleeper team in the AFC will be the Buffalo Bills who will go to the Super Bowl on the strength of the amazing transformation of Tyrod Taylor.

If there is writing on the wall, its not etched in stone.

Have developed concerns. You don't let a perennial all pro depart from your defensive line without some effect.

Our WRs cause some concern.  Actually quite a bit of concern.

And the secondary is still a worry, though Will Hill has looked like he understands what hes doing.

I think we do have a tough schedule though, but 5-11 seems unrealistic.

I don't think we'll go 0-2 to the Bengals again and I do believe we'll beat the 49ers and Chargers. That's 8-8 right there and I do believe 10-6 will win our division.

We're doing well with our starters in the preseason games. (And many have been shelved due to injuries). It's our seconds that have been the problem for the most part.  Those scores are not indicative of where we are.
