[News] Timmy Jernigan's Injury 'Not Overly Serious,' Lardarius Webb Could Be Ready Week 1

58 posts in this topic

what are the ravens to do with Osemele and Yanda that truly is the question. a healthy Webb and Smith could have formed a great tandem at cornerback so far this has never bore fruit hopefully the second string is not as bad they look in preseason perhaps they can find their niche this season as acclimation begins. I know that Marlon Brown has to come up with those balls no excuses Flacco has weapons at WR if they can get healthy Perriman, Camp, and old Smitty and Gilmore at TE Buck, Forsett Talifarro the RB's so let's go Ravens!

I honestly believe that if we ran the 4-3 like the Bills do then our Defensive Line would be the most talked about in the NFL. Oh and I love Webb but I have more faith in Melvin starting opposite of Jimmy. I just wish we were more aggressive on Defense and gave our players the chance to make plays instead if the off 5 yards lets play it safe crap we have been doing the last few years.

Man I was lobbying so hard for Peters and he is tearing it up in KC. hopefully perriman can see the field at some put and disprove my doubts. I have faith that he can be a legit target if he works hard

I would rather the team save the money and get a deal done with K.O, Yanda, Tucker or even Upshaw. I have faith in our secondary, not so much the play calling but the players themselves. Smith, Melvin, Webb and Kyle with Hill, Lewis and Brooks in the back end is a lot of talent.

Should sign Jennings just in case Webb can't stay healthy.

I've lost confidence in Webb. Never did he look anything remotely like a starting NFL corner last year. He looked lost out there. He was a big part of the reason we didn't beat the Patriots and missed going to the Super Bowl. Melvin was actually our best corner. We wouldn't suffer a bit if they cut Webb and signed Tim Jennings who was just cut from Chicago yesterday.

Campanaro coming back improves his chances to make the team. The roster is very tight this year. Releasing Means is an example of the consequences of being injured all the time. If Camapanaro gets injured again between now and Sept 4 he'll be cut as well.

I think Harbaugh is sitting Jernigan out because he doesn't want to risk any further injury to him. Harbaugh has been known to sand bag like this and I think it's the smart thing to do. I hope he is ready for Denver.

I look for Ozzie to pick up another CB asap as they just let Jacobs go and Trawick is next. I don't think they are happy with Vaughn either so if they can get another veteran corner they will. For right now however you can bet it's Smith Arrington and Melvin, no matter if Webb is healthy or not.

We can't cutt webb because of his contract restructure until the last year of his deal I think without taking a salary cap loss. Webb played well to end the year, Melvin got BURNED in the divisional round he gave up 14 compleitons and like 170 yards. Melvin had flashes but webb has expierence. We're stuck with him and I respect him he'll get it togetehr

Get well soon Webby and Timmy! The luxury of having a team so deep in talent a player goes down the next man up can is a beast as well! No need to rush them back well maybe Webby but the secondary is holding it down just think considering injuries the Ravens were still in a position to win it all but chose to just throw it all away! "LITERALLY"

Man I hate injuries this close to the regular season. Luckily this is the time that the market is flooded with veteran help if we need to go that route. And knowing Ozzie I'm sure he has already been tracking people that can make us better.

I would like to see us pick up a ILBer, none of the backups have impressed me at all....They have to play big in order for the front 7 to be effective....Also bring in a D-Linemen for more depth, not sure how often Jernigan will go down....

I wish I could say that I'm real glad to have Webb back, but I've been so disappointed with him with both his play and his injury constant injuries that I'm almost at the point where I'd say let Melvin have his starting spot and relegate Webb to backup status. I just don't think Webb has been the same since he signed his first long term contract. In fact, I think we would have cut him if he hadn't taken a cut this time around. Now Camp, I Am thrilled to have Him back, but mainly because I think we really need him a lot. Until I see Perriman back on the field and see what he can do, I think Camp is our best receiver after SSS. But, really, there's no getting around the fact that he's going to have to find a way to avoid all these injuries he's been suffering with. I believe he's got Tremendous talent but, doggone it, the best talent in the entire league does you no good when it's on the bench. Somebody find a bubble for Camp to play within or something, huh? This kid can really play but, man, it gets more and more frustrating every time we hear of a new injury. Please, Camp, find a way. Toughen up. Please! I really think this team needs this kid.

They should give Webbs slot to Melvin he has earned it by being reliable at the very least.

If Melvin is the better player, so be it. If not, Melvin will be ready when called upon.... whenever that is.

Echo That   Oz now has to step up which he usually does.  I admire what Management  saw regarding the potential of Carl Davis who might be a capable back up for our injured  D men.

>> The injured lists extend throughout the league. Buffalo has an enormous number of injured.men.

I have a really bad feeling about this season.Reasons are 1) None of the players that were expected to fill the void seem to be ready for the job..Start with Jernigan - already hyped so much, can't finish one game without being injured..2) No.1 Draf pick Perriman, no one has seen him play yet..3) So called steal of the Draft Max Williams?? No one is even mentioning him anywhere,..I have heard more stuff about Nick Boye then Williiams...4) So many WR they keep on talking about but the fact is no one has done anything eveer in their carrier.. 5) DBs and defensive backfield was thought to be upgraded..Well atleast on the preseasons games I didn't see any improveents.... 6) No one has talked anything about pass rush..I think Suggs and Dumervil are gonna show their age this season and not be as effective..Pass rush has not been present at all during preseason games..

And above all I think Coach Harbaugh is seeing the writing on the wall.. I have never seen him so frustrated so much before than in last 2 games..It is not because of media or opposition coach or anything. It's because this team has no talent that can play and stay healthy..

Everyone keeps on talking about how Carl Davis is the steal of the draft..Well, how about 2 picks that were before him..How come no one is giving flak to Ozzie and the management about those 2 pics which fans haven't had any chance to even see if they can play..

Similar things have happened in the past..Ozzie gets all the praise about late round draft picks that turns out to be decent!! Just decent remember!! No one's turned out to be all-pro or pro-bowl calibre players..Where as at the same time Ozzie almost never gets criticized about so many missess on early draft picks..How come no one is talking about Matt Elam and Arthur Brown? They were both tagged as steals of the draft by the Great Wizard of Oz!! Reallly???, How about Upshaw who has not been anything but a role player..for a first round draft pick to be just a role player is a bust!

I love how some lol talk crap about an organization that has been One of the most successful franchise of this generation. We always pick at the end of the draft in most scenarios and yes we draft great players in later rd. There are a lot of great players that aren't first rd picks, that's very overrated. If you're u want to get into that discussion Dave you should bring up all the busts that teams before us draft which is far more common. Some of or younger guys in recent years r have seen injury and or have been Back-ups to better players and when they have had a little success they leave for the green. We know whT guys too keep around and who to let walk.

yeah I'm gonna feed him...

Your first statement is a little premature. The season hasn't even started and your already insinuating that our first 2 picks are busts. I've heard plenty about Maxx , and perriman is injured.. Could happen to anybody and has happened to several other first round picks this year, it is what it is. And upshaw? One of the most underrated players on our team who is a straight up beast at setting the edge? Stop your complainin. Every team has picked dozens of busts, that's just the nature of the draft. But compared to other managers Ozzie is a genius. Be thankful for what we have. Don't like how we do business then go root for the browns. Bc they draft much better.
