[News] DeAndre Carter Among First Eight Ravens Cut

65 posts in this topic

Tyrod got his shot! I hope he makes the best of it and seizes that job for years to come. Besides the fact that he was a class act and a good dude from what i observed, i want the bills to become a powerhouse in that division. It's time to give the patriots some legitimate competition down there instead of them cake-walking to a division title & a playoff bye seemingly every season. Enough of my selfish intentions, though. GL, tyrod!

Lardarius Webb, K.O, Eugene Monroe, and Campanaro all return to practice according to the Baltimore Sun. That is great news.

Onto the cut list... I hope all of these guys can go back to the drawing board, improve and make a roster next season. Deandre carter needs to sure up his hands and not get too down on himself. Tramain jacobs clearly didn't make the kind of progress from last season that the ravens expected so he needs to go back & work on his technique more. Cut time sucks. I wish all of these guys well.

This round of cuts is not as difficult but getting down to 53 is tough. Even the guys close to the 53rd bubble have to be on edge because you know Ozzie is going to bring in somebody he has his eye on that did not make the 53 of another team.

congrats to tyrod taylor on winning the starting qb job but they are in trouble if they think taylor manuel and cassel will lead them to anything. hope their defense is ready to be on the field a lot. we should trade them schaub for a 4th rd. pick. renner is better

Even at 31, Jennings is a better option at CB than any of the 4 CBs you just listed.

I'll give you 3 of that 4 , but he is not better than Jimmy Smith.

@Edger I think Maxx Williams still out I'm not sure though.

@sami they said because they wanted to go younger at CB. Jennings is still a good CB and I hope Ozzie would take at look can't have enough corners. Hopefully Ozzie would take a look for a kick returner in either a trade or release. I wanted Ozzie to go after Cordarrelle Patterson.

Get rid of Jimmy Smith and Webb. They are both useless. Smith never did improve from last year and like last year will get hurt early in the season, AGAIN!!!!

@ManofSteel, you are literally INSANE! Jimmy Smith is a top 5 CB and arguably top 2-3 CB in the NFL. Ravens were Jimmy Smith away last yr from routing the cheatriots and winning the SB in most educated NFL Peoples mind. Thats how good he is, he shuts down one side of the field and the no.1 WR.. Like a True 1 in their prime shutdown CB! Revis,Deion,Bailey etc. Jimmy Smith is arguably most valuable player on Ravens outside Flacco

I dont know if Dan Brown got enough playing time but what I saw from both him and Tom Nelson the "Other Wes Welker always open slot WR who can catch...but is not injury prone... Both those guys can play on Sundays.

1Nelson can replace Campanaro easy as often injured he is, he does the samethings quick, shifty always open, catch. And Dan Brown 6'5 Freak high ceiling guy... Now I know both likely wont make 53 man but I would take them anyday over half our WRs like Aiken who can only run 10 yrds up the field and thats it.

Atleast put these dudes on PS and as soon as Campanaro goes down cause itll happen week 2 call up Nelson

So you see these guys in a handful of plays against 3rd stringers, many of whom are not good enough to play in the NFL, and you're labeling them as NFL players that can make an impact in real games, against starters? You think you know better than the coaches that see them every day in practice because you saw a couple plays in the preseason? You're really going to compare a guy who can't even make it past the first round of cuts to a former perennial probowler?

@RavensBaltimore, when I see Tom Nelson running free and catching passes because hes a quick, shifty elusive WR in the same ilk Welker,Campanaro that plays on every level you dont have to be a rocket svientist to see that. And when I see Dan Brown make the best catch to date of and Ravens target through multiple defenders at 6'5 220 that plays at any level. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Come on now

I just hope they both get PS at worst, cause its looking more and more like Waller and Butler both make this team. Which Im a Waller guy so I think hes deserving of it. Butler is probably a better Aiken can produce YAC

I saw David Tyree make a better catch, against much better competition, in the Super Bowl. How'd his career as a receiver go? Coaches are not short sighted enough to keep a player based on one highlight play. And a lot of players look quick and have the ability to get open against weak competition, but it's totally different against actual starters. We've seen plenty of players shine in preseason games, (i.e. Deonte Thompson, "baby Ed Reed") that couldn't make it in the NFL. If it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that these guys are so good, then why haven't they gotten more meaningful reps with the 1's or even 2's? You can pick out undrafted players that turned out to be good, but they played well enough to earn time with the starters. The players you are mentioning apparently have not. And for every undrafted player that turns out to be great, there are about 100 that never make it. I still don't know how you can possibly think that after watching a few of their plays in preseason, you know more than the coaches that see them every day in practice. Coaches don't like to keep quick players that are "always open" out of the rotation.

Good luck Tyrod. Excel with the Bills and make sure we get a 3rd round selection for you next year!

Sounds good to me,

And hoping the very best to the released players... keep your head up and nose to the grind. Maybe seeing some back on the PS in the near future

Tough competition at our WR spot, so I'm not surprised...Carter could be back if nobody picks him up. Good luck Tyrod, you need it.

I never thought I would hear something as stupid as JS not being good and should be let go.... had he not been hurt, we might have been in another SB. Not having anyone with His strengths and position is the reason we lost to the patriots. The man is easily the best draft pick we have had in sometime

@RavensBaltimore. Haha funny you try to bring up Tyree catch and how he disappeared then bring up, Deonte Thompson..Tyree had a successful NFL career from 2003-2009 now he wasnt a HOFr but 6 years is success when avg is 3. And Deonte caught on with Bills all last year and probably again this year cause his speed threat, so just cause Ravens didnt think his speed could help...guess what someone else did.

Relax, and maybe not judge so quickly. Not comparing the two but, people said Trent Dilfer was a bad QB although he helped win it all here in 2000.

Deonte Thompson got a chance elsewhere and he's right the guy u quoted, Dan Brown and Tom Nelson have looked decent vs the 3's

Another guy said it too David Tyree made that catch in the superbowl very instrumental to their SB!

Also he came here and played for a season, the man had a good career had you remembering him.

@manofsteel - I can't believe you have just 14 negatives. What a ridiculous statement you make about Jimmy Smith! It doesn't even deserve discussion.

Carter just unfortunately wasn't ready for the big time. Wouldn't be surprised if he catches on someone's roster before week 1. Maybe he'll make it to our PS if none grabs him. Give him a year or two of development and I think he'll have the ability to make a final 53.

Hopefully, he won't wear a Steelers uniform.

Good Luck Tyrod... Starting QB for the Bills!

Echo That...I am glad he got his starter position.  At least he can play the Patriots twice a year and have his chance to beat them. I'm rooting for Buffalo in that division.  Any team there except the Patriots
