[News] DeAndre Carter Among First Eight Ravens Cut

65 posts in this topic

It was nice to let Carter go before the rush so he can catch no with another team. People sometimes think an early cut means they didn't like a guy, au contraire, with the Ravens if they really like a guy but know they have to cut him, they give him every shot to catch on somewhere else. Classy organization.

Hey thanks for being part of the Ravens for some time. It is a privilege suiting up as a Raven even if it is for a short while. Good luck fellas!

No surprises here. Good luck to Tyrod who was just named starting QB for the Bills. Glad he is getting his chance. Hope he learned to avoid contact.

Don't see any surprises at all so far. That will, undoubtedly, change as time goes on and further cuts occur. Stay tuned for further announcements. It will be interesting as we make our way to the final 53, no doubt.

Wish they would just cut the preseason down to 2 games, make the regular season 18 games, and increase the roster spots to allow more than 53 roster spots already.

I don't make this recommendation out of loss of love for the players, I want the coaches to have enough time to evaluate new players as well. I want to keep as many valuable players on our roster. With the number of injuries teams have to deal with, 53 man roster seems too low to me. It is time that the league lets these teams keep more players on their roster.

I wish you guys all the luck, and hope you land somewhere.

Carter just unfortunately wasn't ready for the big time. Wouldn't be surprised if he catches on someone's roster before week 1. Maybe he'll make it to our PS if none grabs him. Give him a year or two of development and I think he'll have the ability to make a final 53.

So is Ozzie gonna try get Tim Jennings?

I (and I'm sure many others) was thinking the same thing when I saw he'd been released last night. It certainly couldn't hurt.

Can he return punts?

Looking at the Bears roster, after Jennings and seeing there is a bunch of nobodies I would be worried what Jennings has left in the tank.  If they sign him is he going to beat Smith,Webb, Arrington or Melvin for their spot?  After that guys are going to be expected to play special teams.

Ozzie has shocked us before and its always nice to have extra corners(especially after last season), but as of right now I am saying, probably not.

Some decent (good) players already let go around the league.

RB- Fred Jackson?????

LB- Kevin Riddick

CB- Tim Jennings

WR- LDamian Washington

LB Khari Fortt

WR DeVier Posey

DT Kwame Geathers

Plus some other notable ex-Ravens let go today

Places that Ozzie may be looking since we have reached the cuts:

KR /PR, DL deth, Possible S depth, possible CB depth... Additional WR especially if they have Return skills!

@runcontrol I get what your saying but if they do get Jennings it wouldn't put to much pressure on Webb and definitely Melvin to play well. I wouldn't mind rotating Melvin and Jennings and then Webb and Arrington in the slot will gives us more options and more depth. Tim Jennings wants to play with a contender and I don't mind Ozzie signing him. If that do happens somebody is going to get cut at Cb.

I wish we could get a playmaker like Cordarrelle Patterson in a trade for our special teams but they probably wait for somebody to get cut darn.

Even at 31, Jennings is a better option at CB than any of the 4 CBs you just listed.

I dont know if Dan Brown got enough playing time but what I saw from both him and Tom Nelson the "Other Wes Welker always open slot WR who can catch...but is not injury prone... Both those guys can play on Sundays.

1Nelson can replace Campanaro easy as often injured he is, he does the samethings quick, shifty always open, catch. And Dan Brown 6'5 Freak high ceiling guy... Now I know both likely wont make 53 man but I would take them anyday over half our WRs like Aiken who can only run 10 yrds up the field and thats it.

Atleast put these dudes on PS and as soon as Campanaro goes down cause itll happen week 2 call up Nelson
