[News] Late For Work 8/31: No Flag For Dangerous Hit On Kamar Aiken. Will It Draw Fine?

77 posts in this topic

So.....perrimans still not practicing/playing?....what a surprise...where's all the "head in the sand" fans that said he's be ready??...Out for the year at best!....Get real, we made another 1st rd mistake at WR and should Never make that mistake again......I wonder if he could....well never mind i don't think he's qualified for that position either......Keep Tom Nelson!

Where I really think Tom Nelson will catch on somewhere, I don't think there is room here for him to develop.  Not that we have any great outstanding players, but the players we have are far more versed in the system.  If you keep Waller as they are sure to do, then you cant have another developmental player in Nelson.  As far as wide receiver mistakes in first round, only those with 20-20 hindsight would have known Perriman would have suffered an injury that would have dragged on this long.  We had a need, Perriman was actually the last receiver on the board the Ravens would pick and were ready to trade back if he wasn't there.  Sure we can never try to get a Wide Receiver and always be at the whim of a free agent signing, but when you look back at Evans and houschmandzedah, they didn't turn out so great anyway.  It is a competitive sport and there are no certain things in sports so if you never try, you never succeed.  In Ozzie I trust and who said he might not find a veteran WR out there.  Don't count your chickens.....  you know....

Robinson's wrestling move was worse than the Suh Stomp. Robinson previously tried to pile drive Bridgewater as well. He was fined over $16k. You can see it here; if i post it right... http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/63/files/2014/11/4vbSJeP.gif

Thanks for the GIF.  I've seen enough.  It's an absolute joke if the NFL doesn't suspend this guy for repeatedly pulling this same move trying to injure players heads/necks.  He shouldn't be playing.

He has a sprained PCL which is usually a 1-2 month deal. It just hit the 2 month time frame. You really want to rush back a guy with that much potential just so he can get hurt again? I actually like him sidelined this gives the other receivers a chance to shine while he was out. He was getting open consistently against the #1 defense before going out. Are you on the Packers boards telling them to cut Jordy Nelson because he should be back on the field?

Raiders and the Texans saw the whole picture in real nfl games................Hopefully those who make the actual decision based on his under performance will come to their senses and keep Renner and demote schaub the practice squad where he belongs......Or AXE him to where he really belongs.....

Schuab did fine the first two preseason games he showed he can throw the ball with pretty good accuracy. No one on the 2nd or 3rd teams played well at all against the Redskins to point fingers won't solve anything. It just proved if the Ravens get the injury bug in one position like last season in the secondary they will struggle which you can say about most teams.

The hit by Robinson should be the main story on sports pages, I've looked...it's not. It's Smith and Harbaugh that are the stories. Talk about misdirection in the media!!!

What do some of you people not understand about the Perriman injury, the initial prognosis was wrong and John admitted that saying Perriman had a sprained knee, an injury that takes weeks to heal, why is that so hard to comprehend for some of you.

The hit was disgusting and dangerous. The other hit by Robinson on Bridgewater looks just as ugly and just as intentional. Robinson should not only get fined, but suspended and if he ever does that again, ejected from the league. I wonder that Aiken got up uninjured, as was said here before, he could have been dead or Jason Street of the NFL. This should be an issue.

I don't know what is up with the Refs being all over the Ravens, something said in the off season?? I just hope it backs off before Sept 13th. And yes..... that tackle should have been flagged, and he should have been ejected, not Smith who hit nobody. Robinson tried to seriously injury Aiken with intent. I hope the league appropriately responds. If it had been a Raven player pull such a stunt it would have headlined all the networks all week, I haven't seen diddly about it. GO RAVENS!

Okay.... Lets be honest... we should have some depth on Def at least... DL... Guy, CDavis, KLM, DTyson, LBs... Courtney, ABrown, McClellan, Orr and ZSmith... DB's DB's Klye Arrington, Cassius Vaughn, TBrooks, Tray Walker, ALevine, BTrawick and more.... we do have some talent behind the starters on defense and are still getting shredded! I think that the real problem is that we don't have a back up DCoordinator! No depth at the DC position leaves us vulnerable bc DPeas isn't getting the most out of his players... and hasn't since he has been here! We need more depth at DC! and we will be fine!

How quickly you guys forget that Jacoby had a similar sprain during the 2013 and he missed about 5 weeks so give the guy a break... he was out there practicing... and sprained it laying out to make a play... its not like he did it horsing around... or falling down... so please let the young man at least have the opportunity to play before judgement is passed..

Its actually ironic i bet if ozzie had to choose between shane ray randy gregory before their issues and melvin gordon more than likely never would have picked up perriman and would have got sammie coates in the second round there was a reason why perriman was available and obviously now we see why because of his genetic condition along side the mental drops no one thought he was a first round talent except ozzie bc if that were the case the wr needy teams like arizona and minnesota would have taken him first round

Nothing surprises me where the refs are concerned in a Ravens game. Penalty flags come out for breathing on an opponent wide receiver, but this guy pile drives Aiken into the ground and nothing happens. When it comes to protecting Ravens players from blatant fouls, the refs turn a blind eye. I am surprised that Aiken wasn't hurt badly. Just a despicable cowardly tackle. This guy should have been tossed immediately and fined heavily. It he was a Raven I'm sure he would have been.

Does anyone know if the NFL critiques its officials after games? It's hard to imagine there is any critiquing of officials after watching the last two Ravens pre-season games. Many calls and non-calls are atrocious. If they do critique it must not be serious effort at all as improvement is nowhere to be seen.

Yeah, looks like a pattern to me:

WOW...  I had forgotten about that tackle against Minnesota.  It's going to be interesting to see what happens here.  I know Goodell and Br*dy are "in settlement hearings today, but this cannot be tolerated.  Everytime I watch that tackle/piledrive, I get sick to my stomach  Aiken was really lucky.

wow, good catch... hopefully he gets fined at least double and suspended..... also, where's the freaking outcry over this ? this is way worse than what T Sizzle even came close to doing last week. #pathetic

Seeing the replays (S.E. Florida has no MASN ......LOL), I am totally shocked that Robinson received nothing. Quite obviously a penalty should have been called for Unnecessary Roughness. If any one was to be Ejected? it should have been #52's name being called first. No place for that nonsense ......in any setting.

I would rather have Perriman than anyone you mentioned. He has all the assets that we need in a WR. Speed, size, ability to create separation, get off press coverage, go up and get the ball in traffic, big catch radius. Before his injury, he was already practicing with the first team and making big plays. The injury itself happened while making a great catch. 4-6 weeks is pretty standard for a knee sprain, with or without OSD, and doctors have already said that his genetic condition has nothing to do with his injury. Ozzie knows better than to overreact when he doesn't get instant gratification, unlike some of the fans.

One more thing that I have to vent about..... After the game on Saturday night, all the news was how Steve Sr was ejected from the game, just him, not much on the dangerous hit on Kamar...... Reading comments on some of these news outlets left me really p.o.'d, calling Coach Harbaugh the dirty coach with a dirty team, and mostly were skin fans thinking this hit was legal and completely awesome..... I am guessing this is what spectator sports has become, really pathetic and sad..... Rant over......

Don't worry about them. They are Redskin fans, that is punishment enough. They are probably just excited to see a story about themselves on the national circuit. Redskins...SMH

I'm thinkin we should hop on Fred Taylor for another running back. He just got cut. Buck's not quite ready.

fred jackson*

but yeah i thought the same when i heard it. fred jackson is the type of veteran well rounded back we love to pickup late in the offseason, the kind of guy that can come in and pickup the system quickly and can perform VERY well in limited opportunities and gets plenty of rest because he wont be the feature guy

we also made a mistake by drafting kyle boller, i really wish we hadnt taken flacco because of that blunder of a draft pick.

Robinson deserves a suspension, he could have paralyzed Aiken pile driving his neck in the turf like that.

Are you people real?   The guy has a pcl sprain and it takes a few weeks to get better.  Yes, i was hoping he would be back by now, because he is hurting his progression, but I am realistic and realize that this is part of the normal healing process.

So Ozzie made a mistake because the guy hurt is leg in training camp?  Does that mean the Bears made a huge mistake because their rookie receiver will miss the entire season?

Take a minute and look up PCL sprain, under causes you might find this " In football, this may happen when a running back's knee lands directly on the turf. "  So its a normal injury that is known to happen while playing football and his previous knee issues have nothing to do with this injury.

I am glad some of the fans are being realistic about this injury.  I guess because it was original said to be a bruise fans are ignoring the fact that it was said awhile ago that it was a sprain.

I think a lot of our reserve woes are due to the fact that all our leaders are on 1st string. No one on 2nd and 3rd string to get everyone set, call the plays, take control.

How do you hand out all those penalties, and not penalize the guy who made the whole thing jump off. How in the world did the refs miss out on that Robinson hit on Aiken? I am still baffled by the fact they still haven't came down with anything. What makes this even worse it is not even being talked about. They say we are whiners here in Baltimore, well you don't make calls like this one, you have a right to whine. This was about a guy who was doing way too much, and trying to make a name for himself. What's worse is that even after all that, they didn't get the fumble recovery, and they got scored on immediately. Now that call on that Crocket Gilmore touchdown was a bogus call.
