2015 Cuts Tracker

573 posts in this topic

Melvin Gordon: 20 carries, 45 yds, 2.3 avg, 0 TD's

Buck Allen: 35 carries, 88 yds, 2.5 avg, 0 TD's

I guess the Chargers should cut their potential superstar 1st round pick, he just wasn't that impressive. Forget about developing talent, if they don't set the league on fire after being in the NFL for 3 months they will never amount to anything.

I bet there is some concern.

I'd cut Walker and Myers and try to resign them to practice squad but thats mainly cuz my ego is not that big. I'm not keeping somebody cuz of potential and it should be about the team this year. I'd have kept Pointer over Walker and I'd definitely keep Jensen over Myers.

Building a franchise roster for one year is how to be the Browns, Titans, etc or any other cellar dweller. If all goes well, Myers will never see the field because it means Yanda and KO stayed healthy and at this point, Walker is definitely a fifth corner and I don't know of many fifth corners playing big time snaps.

Your ego may not be that big, but you're having a serious case of tunnel vision

OK! I heard that Perriman was seen walking through (not jogging) routes. Can he at least jog? If not, think he could he end up on IR??? That would be a twist.

If he can't jog after more than a month, it doesn't look good.

On today's episode of overreaction theater....

Cut our 4th and 5th round picks? I don't think some of you understand how this whole draft thing works.

So far I've seen

- Cut Buck Allen

- Cut Tray Walker

- Cut Robert Myers

How many OLinemen you planning on keeping? Walker maybe but theres always the draft next year where a couple corners could be picked up. He's gotta have SpTeams value right now to even contribute or just constantly be an inactive. Waste of roster space imo. If we do have serious injuries in them areas are those two gonna be our best options? Draft picks dont always gotta make it when you gotta a good team. 9 rookies on a 53 not counting UDFAs. Thats a lot.

I actually have Myers being cut and placed on PS. I know exactly how the draft works and when you have 9 draft picks on a team loaded with young talent sometimes guys just don't make it. Myers imo was drafted as a developmental player. Again when you have 9 total picks and you're seemingly stacked at a position you can take a flier on a young developmental guy in the draft.

Imo Myers has been decet but doesn't appear ready to help this team in 2104. The potential is there but he needs work. Honestly i had him making the team initially just because of his draft status, but i think he'll become a victim of the numbers game. I have Jensen as my 8th but i could very well see the team deciding to keep Myers as the 9th guy. Reid is gone imo.

That is RT for you at this time of year, the week 1 overreactions should be nice as well. I am not buying any of the draft picks being cut either, I think the most likely one would have been Waller but he has shown too much potential to put on the waivers at this point.

There's a little bit of that but I think injuries on the O line might mean that we keep Reid as 9th and try to stash Myers on the PS, as he's definitely not ready.

On today's episode of overreaction theater....

If you have info on his condition please share. IR was a question not a reaction. I don't know whether he can jog or not at this time, do you? I do know that if he cannot jog after a month of healing (not sure if you can or cannot) then it's a concern that he will hold a spot that is of value to the 53 man roster.

Raiders just cut Sio Moore for some reason

Sio Moore could be a good ILB for us. He seems like a sure tackler and has great pass rush ability. He also has some ST experience.

It's a question, not a reaction. What makes you believe it's an overreaction to ask a question? I am lacking information on his condition.

Myers will not be cut. When Ozzie Newsome spends a 5th round draft pick on you, you are a commodity to NFL teams in some way shape or form, developmental or not. He won't make it to the PS, that's a free 5th round pick at a valuable position on waivers, it won't happen.

You don't pick a developmental player in the 5th round and then say "Hey this guy can't contribute right away" and subject him to waivers unless he's a total train wreck which isn't the case. Ozzie and company knew what they were getting into when they drafted him. It only makes sense when it's a guy like Wenning who plays a position that teams aren't looking to waivers for in terms of their 53 man roster. Teams can keep a lot of OL, Meyers is absolutely worth a spot on someone else's 53 even if he's developmental, heck he's worth a spot on OUR 53 man roster. Doesn't make any sense. If anyone was going that route it was Waller but he's shown too much at this point to risk sneaking him on.

None of the draft picks will be cut, I feel 100% confident in that. That typically only happens with late round QB's to get them on PS or 6th/7th round picks like Marc Anthony who just blatantly under performed. Not guys like Myers who Trestman said he saw as a future starter, not happening.

Some of you people have no idea what you're talking about.

You want us to cut Myers because he doesn't look "ready"...1. He's a 5th round pick, they don't come in ready, that called DEVELOPMENT. 2. We wouldn't cut our 5th round pick.

You want us to cut Our 4th round pick because he doesn't look good behind a trashy injury stricken O-line in his first PRESEASON games.

I heard the same reports about him just walking through routes in pregame. I'm not sure if he's able to run or not. If he's not able to run i do think there's some real concern there. But i do fwel good about MRI results coming back positive and the fact that there doesn't seem to be much concern from the team.

I think at this point him missing the opening road trip is definitely a possibility. I wonder if Perriman just stays in Baltimore for rehab during the west coast trip. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Perriman until after the Steelers game. The Ravens will have a mini bye after the Thursday Night game and those couple of days will give the coaches time to game plan him back into the offense.

I saw that Deonte Thompson was cut by the Bills.

Seems like he could be a good candidate for the KR position.

That would actually be an interesting one, not bad at KR, fairly familiar with us, and adds some speed. Don't know how likely we bring him in but that is one I wouldn't rule out.

Yeah man, some people miss the big picture regarding the investment of draft picks and focus on what they see right out of the gate, they want instant results. That's not how it works, especially not for mid-late picks. We selected both Myers and Walker knowing they are developmental, knowing they wouldn't be ready right away but would be worth spots on our roster to groom to be starters down the road. Believe it or not every pick and every roster spot isn't just about short term success.

Look at our practice squads over recent years, there's no draft picks from that respective year, the vast majority are UDFA. The one exception last year was Wenning who was a 6th round pick but obviously he's a QB so the circumstances are totally different. Other examples are Anthony Allen who was a 7th round pick and Tommy Streeter was a 6th, both at skill positions. There is no precedent for someone like Myers going that route, it just won't happen.

I know we pretty much always keep our draft picks, at least the guys in rounds 1-5, but it hasn't always happened.  I wouldn't completely discount the possibility that we could cut a guy drafted that early.  We don't shy away from cutting guys drafted in rounds 5-7.

Thanks for your response. Hopefully, he'll be OK soon. Yeah, I just have no info on his progress physically or whether progress is occurring or at a standstill. I agree, if he can't jog after being out for about five weeks there's a reason for concern. The MRI info is encouraging.

I'm hoping for the best but if the info about the MRI comes from the same source as a day or two, or a week, or we don't know, actually how much trust do you have in it. My thoughts are lets go with what we have at WR and when he does come back its icing on the cake. Let's go Ravens!

Any word on what the raiders got in return?

Grigson gave up the farm for Trent Richardson. I like Moore a lot more than Richardson but I wonder what they took him for.

Just read it's a 6 which seems like a good deal for the colts.
