2015 Cuts Tracker

He looked lost out there. Honestly, I thought he was cut regardless of what happened. Lol this is no surprise.

Dude might have some of the tightest hips I've ever seen out of an NFL player.

That's what puzzled me about the rotation at CB in the Philly game. He played over ASA. I'm not the biggest AJax fan as a CB but I'd definitely take him over Greenwood and Vaughn. So to see both guys play and ASA didn't was a bit puzzling. But I think they were being cautious with his knee.

I agree with that assessment. That return was fools gold, the rest of his returns were mediocre and you hold your breathe on every punt whether he can even field the ball cleanly. Oh yeah he can't play corner. I really like Asa as a person which makes it really hard for me to say those things but the truth is the truth. He hasn't earned a roster spot in my eyes, he's a corner who can't cover and a return specialist who is an iffy returner. If he makes the team it will be by pure lack of depth at corner and our desperation for a returner. Basically the two biggest weaknesses on the roster.

You know, Asa did score a punt return TD for us a couple years ago.  Agree he has made huge errors and been outfooted in coverage.  He's got some talent. He's been a disappointment. He should have fair caught that one in the Skins game. Our return game is very questionable.

You need that bonus score on special teams a couple times a year or so.  The Mile High Miracle game was an example of how hard it is to play good defense and have to overcome TWO special teams scores.

Would Phil Taylor be a good addition to our D-line rotation? We need stout depth along our D-line and as long as he's healthy and can play well and hard for a few snaps each game, he would be a good addition to our run stopping ability I think.

Here are the spots where I think people are really fighting for the last spots:

(who I believe they'll keep are in bold)

RB Magee v Toussaint

S Trawick v Levine (they might just keep 4 in which case both are gone)

DB Perry v Pointer v Walker

DE Bilkudi v Kapron v Tyson

Jah Reid is probably the odd man out on the O-line so I bet they're desperately trying to trade him. Unfortunately we've got 9 quality offensive linemen counting Jah.

We are going to have a pretty strong practice squad it looks like

I'd take Jackson over Greenwood as a CB but I don't think I agree regarding Vaughn. I've found Vaughn quietly and progressively impressive. He's improved every game.

Asa just gives off that vibe that he is prone to making huge mistakes fielding kicks and from a ball security perspective. That's my issue with him, not that he can't break off some runs but that if we are in a playoff game I don't trust him to be mistake-free back there. You can lose a game, regular season or playoffs because a PR muffs a punt or get's stripped on our own side of the field and gives the opposing offense a free possession and a short field. While Jacoby wasn't returning kicks up to his 2012/2013 standards at least you could trust him to field the ball cleanly. I just get a very bad feeling about Asa in that regard and he's not a natural ball carrier, he's very prone to getting stripped because of his ball skills.

I just have a gut feeling that he could pull a Kyle Williams in a big playoff game, really hope we make a move to bring in a proven return guy. Look at the slow-mo replay, it's eerily similar to how Asa runs with the ball.

Haven't been impressed with him honestly. He played decent in the Eagles game, but I'd have him below Pointer at this point.

But in terms of a roster spot if it came down to those two and I'm not saying it will but if it didn't you'd probably put Pointer on PS and keep Vaughn for his veteran experience.

Right now I have Jimmy, Melvin, Webb, Arrington, Jackson and Walker as my 6 CBs with Levine and Brooks able to move over to that position if needed. I don't think you keep 7 CBs because you'll keep 5 Safeties for a total of 11 DBs. Just my take.

Got a question for y'all ... Can you alternate players on and off the designated to return list or is it set in stone? Just wondering if it's a good idea to put Brent urban on it or not.

I don't think you can do that.

I'm also starting to think that we might be saving that spot for Perriman, not Urban.

Something tells me the knee isn't that serious since Harbs said everything returned normal, just that it was healing slowly

I hope that's true and we see him early in the season.

Lol, that's exactly what I though just wasn't brave enough to say it!

I think Perriman can come back and make some big plays of his own. I don't think he'll be making those insane grabs, but I can imagine he'll run by more than a few defensive backs

This is surprising to me.

Despite reportedly being very high on him, Ravens have released LB Steven Means from IR w/ an inj settlement

He may very well be back as a PS guy. He has a groin injury that typically doesn't scream IR. However it could take some time to get over it. With this designation Means will not have to miss the entire season which he would have on IR, also means the Ravens don't have to pay for an entire season. If Means isn't claimed off waivers, he'd have to wait the designation period plus 6 weeks before returning to the team.

So if the coaches really did like him, this could be a move to free up a PS spot early while possibly adding some pass rush to the team late. I doubt that this happens hit could.

With that being said Bennen Beyer has definitely stepped up in his absence and there is a decent shot for that kid to make the team IMO.

I do think Beyer at least has a shot, but I think he's on the outside for 2 reasons:

1.  He's never going to see snaps at OLB.  Even if there's an injury, I imagine we'd look outside of the organization to fill that void.

2.  There are better STers.  Why keep someone like Beyer to be a weekly inactive when you could keep someone like Trawick with that roster spot?

I like the kid, but I think he's a practice squad guy.  I think he could make it, but odds are stacked against him.

Oh I agree. He's not on my 53, he's on my PS. I say he has a decent shot only because he's played well and Harbs always seem to have at least one surprise each year.

Yeah if there's a "surprise" I'd guess it would be him.

This year, Zach Thompson is my deep deep sleeper due to ST play.  I always try to pick one a year and Orr was my guy last year.

I am disappointed in the cutting of Steven Means with an injury settlement. I was hoping he would go to IR and be shielded from poaching teams till next year. But, the front office knows a whole lot more than they let us believe....

.. and there goes another "You pick the team" contest down the drain.

I guess I just didn't follow that his injury against NO was serious as it was. Hard to keep up with all the injured Ravens.

Surprising to me too. Hopefully it's not another James Harrsion scenario. Seemed like we were really high on him early this offseason.

Ehh I never saw anything in him and the front office must not have either

Yeah never flashed much to me either,  they were high on him early on though, Harbs mentioned him out of the blue in one presser and hyped him up. Things change though, maybe he never put it together like they thought he would and didn't make much progress from where he started. Like another poster said he may be back if he clears waivers and the settlement was more of a formality than an out right release.

What's the benefit of releasing him? All the hype Ozzie in particular gave to him couldn't have been totally made up. There must have been some truth to it so why cut the guy now? It's not like there is a limit to the amount of guys you can put on IR. Why not just wait til next year and see how he looks then?
