Myers claimed by Indianapolis football team, formerly the Baltimore Colts

When was the last time the Ravens bailing on their 5th round pick in is rookie season?  OG Robert Myers was promptly snatched up by the Colts.  We've been loathe to drop most any draft pick in his rookie season in as long as I can remember.

I'm surprised there's little discussion here on DeAngelo Tyson.  That's a complete shocker.  I know there has been stiff competition on the DL, but he was originally tapped as McPhee's heir.  We all know hat he's capable of in limited snaps.  You have to wonder just how much better everyone else on the line had to play for this to happen.  I mean, Brent Urban (rd 4, injury risk), Guy Lawrence (rd 7), Christo Bilukidi (CFL/FA), KLM (6th rd, injury risk) and even rookie Carl Davis (rd 3) all out performed Tyson?  We had a top 5 DL last year.  So does that mean the players we have now are that much better?  That would be incredible.

Tyson is not a loss at all to me.  He had a very underwhelming preseason and didn't do much last year either.  Towards the end of the year, he had really begun losing snaps to our other DL, enough to where he was a weekly inactive.  Cutting him doesn't surprise me whatsoever.

A consensus is developing that the Steelers have a 2ndary that can be exploited. I hope coaches Harbaugh & Trestman can do so as well as Belichick exploited our 2ndary at season's end.

If their "dress rehearsal" vs Buffalo was any indication, the 4 headed QB monster of the Bills compiled a stat line of 30/33 for 386 yards and 3 TDs. I don't know how the Bills could evaluate their QBs after that ... they all looked like pro bowlers.

And don't think this was a bunch of stats amassed on their 2nd and 3rd stringers. The Steelers starting defense allowed 128 yards of offense and two touchdowns on the first six plays from scrimmage. That wasn't all against the 2ndary ... so no part of their D looked good.

I'm trying not to let that get me too excited, but that's just plain ugly.

Agreed, but also remember he got hurt in the Redskins game. He may be one of those guys you tell to get healthy, stay in shape and stay by your phone because you may bring him back at some point.

I personally don't think Canty makes it to the end of the season. With how well Guy and Davis have played, granted its preseason, i think they'll start to phase Canty out. Then from what i finally got to see from KLM he'll provide some sub package pass rush from the inside along with Jernigan and Davis. Canty's veteran experience it's keeping him around imo

Running Labeau out of town might be the demise of Tomlin. Everything is all on him now and that undersized, fast but not physical defense they've been building the last years will certainly be tested. More and more they seem to be getting away from what seemingly made them so successful. I like what they did offensively, but i can't begin to understand that type defense in this division.

West to tenn for 7th round pick next year

Worst trade I've ever seen. Let's trade our second round pick after one year just for a conditional seventh round pick aka waste of time.

Good for TWest though, he's actually going to a team with a future.

just because guys are touted doesn't mean they are going to be as good.

tyson has been pretty bad overall for us..sure a spurt here or there but overall..he's been nothing worth keeping

One intriguing option could be Jordan todman. RB and KR who was waived by the panthers. Had a very strong preseason. Would fill 2 needs .

I thought he could be worth a look but...

Former Texans wide receiver Damaris Johnson working out for Titans, sources say http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2015/09/former-texans-wide-receiver-damaris-johnson-working-out-for-titans/ …

Might be trying to kill two birds with one stone by finding a RB or CB with return ability.  Not sure there's room for a 7th WR since we're already light in those 2 areas.

Yeah, I was thinking more in terms of pre-53 cuts. At this stage, I'm not even sure we're looking too hard for returner other than a bonus skill. They are probably going to try James and if it doesn't work out get Magee on the Urban's roster spot.

I thought people said they were asking for too much...

Lol I know right? I was wondering the same. Maybe they realized they weren't getting their price and dumped him.

I think The Ravens should find a running back or cornerback with return ability but considering that Perriman situation is still unclear it has to be some what concerning for The Ravens to not have any form of speedy receiver to use. Harbaugh already stated he has no clue when Perriman will be able to practice again and that in my opinion is concerning.

Raheem Mostert just signed to Philly's PS. Bummed we didn't sign him. He was the only GOOD KR option I saw. Can we sign a player that just got signed to a PS?

Sure. We just have to carry them on the active roster for a minimum of 3 weeks. With LT out, that's right up our alley

The only problem is that if you sign a player off of waivers or at this point, their salary becomes guaranteed and the Ravens would prefer to wait until after week one.

Good point and I agree the team would want to wait in that situation.

Only for vested veterans

@jamisonhensley: When #Ravens place DE Brent Urban on short-term IR, the favorite to land 53rd spot on roster is RB Terrence Magee

Does anyone else hate the idea of IRDR'ing Urban? He's played in no preseason or NFL games, as far as I know. They're going to use their one tag for a player who has yet to play a single snap in a game when there are chances of more important veterans getting injured? What if Jimmy got hurt again? Or someone of that magnitude? It'd look real dumb. I'd rather keep him on the active and cut McClellan

The odds someone important gets injured for a significant amount of time but not the full season is pretty low. Better to use it now than risk never getting anything out of it. For what it's worth, I think Urban could be really good. Probably could replace Guy/Canty on 3rd downs.

I had a feeling Myers would get picked up on waivers if we cut him... oh well doesn't feel like it will come back to bite us. We probably reached on him, is that the first time in the franchise's history that a 5th round pick was cut? Ozzie and Eric rarely flub a draft pick this bad but it seems like they got over zealous on Myers. We did great at OL in the 5th round last year with Urschel.

At least it's not as bad as the Steelers cutting a 4th round pick. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come from this year's draft class, way more mid round picks around the NFL got cut this year than I ever remember seeing. Usually they get the benefit of the doubt in year 1 just based off the investment the team made in them.
