2015 Cuts Tracker

573 posts in this topic

I liked Nick Easton as well as everyone else did and hate to see him go. The real big thing here is this is the second center we have flipped for a draft pick in 2016. Elway stupidly gave up a 4th for Gino(yes I'm aware we gave them our fifth) and Trent Balekke in San Fran just gave up a draft pick for a UDFA that would have been cut anyway.

20 years later, Ozzie is still outsmarting other General Managers.

Nick Easton played really well this preseason and he's not a veteran player so if he was cut by The Ravens The 49ers would have to take a risk hoping no other team claims him on wavier.

Jon Meoli ‏@JonMeoli  2m2 minutes ago Harbaugh says it's a draft pick coming back from SF for Nick Easton. Wouldn't say what round.

It still kinda hurts to see Easton go. I won't lie--I kinda hoped he'd be a PS guy for us this year. Kinda bummed he'll be headed out the door to the Niners. We'll also have to (possibly) face him this year, too. I'm not sure he's ready yet for a full-time job, but I did like the guy out there.

Definitely more of an Upshaw.  ST is the reason I'm considering him at all.  He split time with the 1st and 2nd team ST units, moving to the 1st primarily due to injury though.  He did leave with a concussion on Thursday night, too.

I felt the same way seeing him run with the 1st unit on ST. But then him leaving the game with a concussion made me think twice.

Biggest question marks I see left...

Trawick vs. Vaughn

Brown vs. McClellan vs. Thompson

KLM vs. Bilukidi vs. Tyson

Reid vs. Hurst vs. Jensen vs. Myers

Magee making it or not

Some you can take 2 out of the list or whatever, but these guys seem to make up the bubble at this point.

I'm guessing that's the guy who's daughter had cancer? He didn't really do much last year from what I remember.

Yeah it was.

I think they will keep Jensen because he is very versatile. He can play like any position on the Line

Yeah the concussion sealed his fate, at least in my eyes.  Can't see us taking a clear bubble guy (if you even want to call him that) with an injury.  Might as well go with a healthy body.

Trawick isn't great but he's a good ST player. Vaughn is a good player as a CB. I think we could keep both. I like Brown more than the other two simply because of upside and he didn't look bad on ST. He was good, except for a few mistakes. KLM is my guy over the others, but that's because I think Tyson is hurt. I don't know, though. Bilukidi was re-signed earlier this year to (I think?) a 2-year deal. KLM was a guy I felt would be gone but he's done better than I expected. I think Reid could be re-signed later. Hurst hasn't had a good offseason at all. Jensen is good. Myers needs development. Magee is a question mark.

I had Vaughn over Trawick, but maybe both stay with Asa gone.

I had Brown and McClellean making the roster. Ablert over Trawick for ST

Also have both Bilukidi and KLM making it.

Had Maghee vut but brought back after Urban got IRed.

I agree.I honestly didn't think a team was going to trade for him but he obviously was that much impressive.

Reports are that the Giants are cutting Jameel McClain. Since leaving the Ravens a few years ago guys like McClain, Pollard and Ellerbe have been either released or traded. When you really look bacl at that 2012 team It's kind of amazing to see the Ravens win a SB with so many average to above average guys playing major roles. Guess Ozzie knew what he was doing when he decided who to build around.

Interesting news, Giants are releasing Jameel McClain, is he better than Orr, Brown, or McClellan?

LB Jameel McClain has been let go according to a source.

He's probably better than all three, but not by much and he doesn't have the upside Orr and Brown have. He's had some devastating injuries and he's getting older, his time as a Raven are pretty much through. I'm sure there are a few teams that will give him a look if he is indeed cut.

Will Likely

You're not kidding, that kid is electric!! 5'7 is a problem though. Still, 233 PR yards in 1 game is impressive. Should have been more too, he had one come back on a hold.

He needs to retire, that scary neck injury with Baltimore then be had another neck injury recently with giants. I do remember him stopping a rb dead in his tracks trying to come over the pile at the goal line a few years back, epitome of toughness.
