Are people really getting worked up over this? Need to look at some Pop interviews and the reporter needs to ask better questions

This is media sticking up for media, most will QQ for a day or two then it's onto the next whine-fest. I only wish I was reading the papers when Billick went Beast Mode on them at the Super Bowl.

I would be mad that Harbaugh perpetuated the immature perception the public has of this team based on the propaganda pushed by both the media and league but I'm not. Here's why:

The head coach needs the support of the players. Without that he loses the locker room. That was a PR moment Harbaugh used to reinforce that he has his team's back. It might look stupid to us but I'm certain the players respect him more for it.

True. Would you rather play for John Harbaugh who's across the field getting in the officials face or Jay Gruden, whining from the peanut gallery before getting a verbal beatdown from Harbs?

In the locker room, I'm sure the players will appreciate it and they'll probably get a chuckle out of it during the next team meeting, when there will be replays I'm sure. Harbaugh will remind them it was bad for him to do that but they understand... that's what happens with chemistry.

Funny how Gruden made a big deal about John running on the field to settle down his team in a PRESEASON game but no one (including the refs) cared when Jim ran on the field in the SUPERBOWL after Reed picked off Kaepernick and there was a brawl.

Smart move by John if you ask me, tempers were flaring and if one of our guys get's overly provoked and throws a punch, not saying any names *cough* Steve Smith *end cough*, could get suspended for week 1. But hey what would Jay Gruden know about controlling his team, he routinely trashed RG3 to the media last year and the Redskins have one of the worst locker rooms in the NFL. We saw a glimpse of that in Hard Knocks when they practiced with the Texans, the players on the Texans absolutely hated the way they practiced and in a few expletive laced monologues they talked about how they couldn't wait to get out of there.

Especially coming from an employee of the team. Seems there is an underlying issue between Brent and Harbs.  If it continues I think I know which one will be looking for work.

sounds like they've kissed and made up already  ;)

Don't say, "How do you feel about giving up the late score and/or fumble?" Ask what happened that allowed those things to occur and what should be worked on to correct them. How do you think he felt, genius?

the only bush league going on was the reporter bringing up only negatives about 2nd and 3rd string play during a preseason game. you could tell the reporter felt ashamed afterwards because harbaugh called him out for good reason. harbaugh didnt even seem bent out of shape, answered the questions in a calm manner and called him out for asking bad questions. harbaugh was 100% accurate.

Opinion, not fact. You should learn there's a difference.

Well, yes, that would've been better.

I don't mind some negative questions, but you have to mix in something positive. Like

"What made that kick return so successful"

"What do you think about so-and-so's performance"

"What plays stood out to you"

Something like that to keep him from getting pissed off. You don't just go into the Safari Zone throwing rocks.

Well, you've got about 30 seconds with the coach, so I'm not sure how finely tuned you can make it. Or how much you have to worry about aggravating him...

I love Harbs passion. He has an edge to him just like the team he coaches.

And yet the media acts like it's a bad thing... mwahahaha

When somebody asks ignorant things you respond with ignorant things? I could see myself doing that when I was 15 but not now at 30, or in harhaughs case over 50.

I have no respect for people that act like that, all ego and arrogance. Does harbaugh care that I don't respect him? No but that's where I stand

I don't respect wishy washy people who try to placate ignorance. I don't have time for it, never have. Harbaugh is not arrogant he is confident and I respect the fact that he is not a door mat. And you're right, he doesn't care if you respect him or not, anymore than I do. Although I am aware that you likely do not care that much about my position either. Goes without saying.

I think back to when Brian Billick gave a bunch of reporters a piece of his mind. I loved the way he refused to put up with their idiocy.

Think about it. If it were you, and you had the chance to ask Harbaugh an actual question are you going to ask who he plans to use in the next game, or whether he is happy with sloppy play? We all know the answer to those questions. Ask something that 1. he can actually answer, and 2. is actually relevant.

but a broad how do you feel questions allows you to talk about what occurred and the corrections that need to be made...does it not?

a good interviewee usually extrapolates the real question and runs with it....granted the nature of being a coach at the half slows down harbs clarity of concept/you run with it. However, if kimmy kimmel asked the question a guest would run with it to get their point across instead of saying ask better questions.

it's not a police investigation....it's more like a job interview questions where you get a broad question and are allowed to take it in directions to show your skills and ideas. I think of questions as concepts and would answer even things not asked to get my point across best.

I've seen better questions asked. I didn't see any need for Harbaugh to say more than he did after being asked those questions. If you want to know something specific in an interview, you ask for it. I don't see every interviewer asking broad questions and hoping to get a specific response. When you word questions the way that guy did in that moment, you are simply trying (maybe not consciously) to get the coach upset. He ended up getting the famous sound bite out of it that every ratings nut desires. That's what I saw.
