Harbs Going Off

83 posts in this topic

So in this post game presser, Harbs claims he did not go off and didn't think he said anything....do we think he was just playing coy there, or did he really and truly not remember getting justifiably eye bulging gonzo at Gruden??

Yeah, I've never seen Harbaugh like that.  He had to be embarrassed, however, he has nothing to be ashamed of.

when you get upset in a battle you not going to remember everything....it's easy to blackout when you really fired up.

anyways jay said words first...and he only responded so i wouldn't consider that having words with someone  unless i was firing off insults as well. telling jay to shut up and mind his own business on his sideline ain't going off imo.

True, it's just defending your team.  I'd assume Gruden told him to get off the field...

Harbs isn't really allowed to come on the field there to break things up and I'm guessing if it were regular season he would not have done it. That said, he was fine and composed until Gruden said something to him. Harbs' player was just blatantly fouled and lucky to not have a serious neck injury. I don't blame him one bit for firing back at Gruden.

Awfully cranky with Brent Harris, too. I'll give Harris credit- once Harbs got hissy, he just sent it back upstairs...

I can feel Stan White (who used to do those interviews) cringing every time we end a half on a sour note.  I get it, he's emotional, it's an emotional game, but frankly he acts like a petulant child at times.  I know one other coach who acts like that...in New England.  Sometimes you need to be the example and provide a calm, mature presence.

If you can't beat them in regular season, lets beat them in preseason; if we can't make to the playoff, let's kick some butts in the preseason.  That's what the Redskins are attempting to do....

This Gruden sucks, RG3 is being wasted. The man had so much promise

Eh, Gruden may have issues, but "wasting" Bob3 is not one of them. The guy is just not an NFL franchise QB, and the only reason they continue to try to make him one is that they gave away the farm to get him. Snider just can't swallow the mistake and forces whoever is in the coaches seat to play Bob.

In Harb's defense, those were some stupid questions. Every question was negative, and all he can really say in response is something like "yeah, that's bad." Ask him a question without an obvious negative answer and you'll get a better reaction.

totally agree, those questions were stupid. they were asked like it was a regular season game, completely left out positive things like steves hot start, starting offense and defense, etc. harbs had every right to answer the way he did, and im glad he did.

Harbaugh needs to act more like a mature adult, these tirades and screaming look childish and not indicative of a rational adult. I was embarrassed for him, when he was screaming at Gruden, regardless if it was right or wrong. I'm guessing he see's a fine for his actions.

What...  after these past 3 preseason games???  Come on.  The refs have been absurdly awful.  No flag on Robinson last night???  Flag on Suggs last week, and something like 17 penalties in game one???  He's frustrated, and I don't blame him.

I think Harbaugh is fed up with our injury situation and he sees one of his receivers neck pile driven into the turf and he had enough and ran onto the field even though he shouldn't. Fatty Gruden, who isn't long for the league tells him to "get off the field" and Harbaugh gave him a piece of his mind.

Its like when a baseball manager gets thrown out to make a point. Harbaugh was making a point. He was supporting his team and didn't care if they tossed him or not. That roughing was uncalled for and not penalized and Harbs had seen enough of the one way officiating with his own player at risk on uncalled fouls.

I think it's actually refreshing to have a coach that actually shows some emotion and doesn't give those same old cliche answers over and over again. He tells it like it is and he rides for his team. I was proud when he came out on the feild.

Yeah, but, RGKnees is a diva.  He's an attention seeker, and that's not good for a team...  TEAM... being the key word.  He was/is all about himself.

If Harbaugh coming out on the field wakes up one official and prevents one injury to one of the players it's well worth it. One player sees that and gives just a little more effort on a play down the road could be a difference maker.

The same old motivation excuse right? These are grown men getting paid substantial amounts of money, if you need your coach screaming at another coach to get you motivated , maybe they should consider a career change.

As a parent (assuming you are based off your screen name) getting frustrated and throwing a tantrum in front of your kids, what message would that send?

And the issue of penalties is something that has been with Harbaugh since he started coaching in Baltimore and these are only ones that were accepted, doesn't include declined or offsetting.

2014 : Tied 14th most penalized

2013 : Tied 6th most penalized

2012 : 2nd most penalized

2011 : 24th most penalized

2010 : Tied 18th most penalized

2009 : 3rd most penalized

Absolutely, I am a parent, and a (young) Grandparent... I had no problem getting in my kids faces... I didn't always keep my cool...  and when I had to take up for them, and go to battle for them???  I did that too, and correct, it wasn't always pretty, but my point was made.  My kids know, that you stand up for what you believe in, and you always stand on your principles.

Two of those seasons we were middle of the pack.  No problem with that at all...

One season 24th???  So what's the point?

Seems like it is pretty close to making  my point...

Did you check the years prior to Harbaugh?

All of it.

the parent thing is a little off based. Moving beyond that as a Ravens fan I will assume we all have at least and appreciation of Ray Lewis, and him being fired up got our whole team going. Same with Anquan Boldin (his attitude had a huge effect on Torrey there no coincidence that they're teammates again) so Harbs getting fired up is a leadership style. Everyone isn't cool Joe Flacco.

(But bet money if Flacco got ticked off that while offense would play like they're lives where on the line)

I have noticed a different Harbaugh this preseason. He could feel more under pressure for some reason.

In any case he had no business going all the way across the field. On some level I liked it and our players may have enjoyed his getting in the face of gruden but he should have been penalized.

I know some calls have been going against us but I don't think I need to see Harbaugh with his arms incredulously extended more than three times per game.

So, since you are a parent, I assume you have a job that's paying you money. No, it isn't the millions that these guys are making (I'd guess), but you're telling me that you don't have additional motivation at your workplace? There's nothing that makes you feel like you want to work a little harder and get a little more done?

Your couch going out there and defending you all is going to really resonate. You're going to want to then go and play well enough to show that you're couch had a reason to go out there for you. You're not going to just sit by and go, "Oh, cool, my couch just stood up for us. That's nice." That'll get you real fired up.

And no, I do not think it was solely for motivation. I think Harbaugh was astonished not to see a flag on such a dangerous tackle that was given a second effort to be made. I think Harbaugh was just simply trying to protect his players in the fight so that none of them got hurt like how Aiken could have been. I think he truly just cared about his players. The motivation was just a secondary reason.

I guess he should've only asked him about SS's touchdown catch and run.
