[News] Ravens Lose Timmy Jernigan, Others To Injury

53 posts in this topic

The RT Number 76 for the skins, went straight to Jernigans left knee on a run play left. What's weird is Jernigan was hit straight to the left knee but it was his right that he seemed to hurt. I hope Jernigan is ok. The more I watch that play the more ticked I get.

Ticked me off too. After we got a lead it seemed like they were just out to hurt people. No wonder they had a fight the other week. Hopefully everyone is okay and healthy for week 1.

The massive amount of injuries and our upcoming debut in Denver are not  votes of confidence .  These three pre season games revealed many weak areas, especially our defense.  We should take each game at a time rather than predict playoffs at this point.

Lord have mercy, please no more headlines that read "Ravens lose xxxxx to injury!" It scared me to death and then I read that the team has no idea how bad the injury is. We see the word lose, I am thinking catastrophic thoughts. Saying "Jennigan and others were injured in the game" or something like that would have not have caused a spike in my blood pressure.....lol

Out of all the injuries listed above, the one concerning Timmy Jernigan scares me the most. Please don't let it be anything to sideline him for more than a game or two! The guys behind him don't seem to have enough fight in them.

O-line looked like it played without KO and Monroe - you shouldn't be able to tell except for the jersey numbers.

What happened to all the messages on this story from before 3 AM. I had several myself.

We'll check on that.  Nothing was "removed" folks.  There may have been issues with the boards earlier.  Nothing we can control as Mods.  Happens once in a while.  Sorry for any inconvenience.

What's really bad is the second and third string backups could not stop a high school team. Very few players make it thru the season playing all the games

Man, the fact that three defensive linemen all went down in the same game is a letdown for the season. Any way we can not play anyone against the Falcons and have them score on every play?

As i said before, going low on a player is only an issue when it's a qb who's on the receiving end of the hit. If it were a qb instead of jernigan getting hit low, the NFL world would be in an uproar. In fact, we saw that crap in action last wk when suggs went low on bradford. Has any major publication talked about jernigan almost getting his knee torn up by a low hit? No. Yet when an average quarterback gets hit in that fashion (legally i may add), people go nuts. Please.

Promise you guys, if our players stay healthy, this preseason will work in our favor come regular season. Do you guys have that bad taste of losing in your mouth after watching these past 2 games, I do too. Our players do too. So when regular season comes they will already have a chip on their shoulder.

Normally I would say that since Jernigan walked off unassisted he should be OK, but after the delayed return of Perriman for an impact non-serious injury, I am holding my tongue on speculating how long someone is out. GO RAVENS!

Yes, I'm worried. The way the injuries keep piling up, this team is in terrible trouble. The way Cousins picked apart the secondary, Manning will have a field day. This team also needs to learn how to tackle, I counted 6 miss tackles just on one play, about 15 in the series.

the problem with our secondary is they practice against our WRs who run easy to defend routes so they aren't up to the task of stopping WRs from other teams who run crisp, fast, precise routes. The problem with our WRs is they run lousy routes and get away with it because our secondary cant defend their lousy routes then when they get in a game their lousy routes are too lousy to work on a good secondary.

Man what is going on with us? With all the injuries that's happening sooner or later, we are going to have to put in some of these backups during the regular season. It is very frustrating to watch us go out and get demolished liked this in back to back games. I don't know what it is but we have got to do something. I also think its safe to say that Ladarius Webb has become more and more of an liability. I will say this though it was good to the Steelers get demolished as well, it shows that we are not the only ones in the AFC North with problems. As of right now, our Ravens and the Steelers have the same record. My God what's with all the injuries, damn every season it like this, Geez. I don't know what else to except I'm glad it's preseason. I hope we have a better regular season.

I hope Trestman has taken some notes from our pre-season performance so far. Really need the running game to help all of the WRs not named Steve Smith get open.

The rate and extent of injuries this season is alarming. At this rate, the NFL should increase roster sizes for the regular season and allow 2 IR (designated to return slots per team) and allow PUP placement for injuries occurred during training camp. It just seems to me that injuries are increasing in recent years. The reasons could be players are faster and stronger than before and their ligaments have to bear substantial musculature and stress. We cannot afford to lose Jernigan to any injury at this point.

That's a great idea @ellicottraven.

2 more on the roster and an extra IR and PUP would be a big help and looks like it's warranted too. We're not the only ones with guys going down.

This last pre season game should be ugly as well. Keeping all the 1st and 2nds out will mean they'll be pulling folks from the stands to fill the line :-)

Ozzie- Now do you miss Torrey?

Breshad Perriman can't even put his foot on grass, and WR is a very hard position to learn for a rookie- I would've understood if we kept Jacoby, but you let him go too. So our fastest and best receiver is 36 years old, and he's going to retire at the end of this year? Camp can't even stay healthy either, and we know Pitta's deal and now the new TE? Our corners still stink- we didn't really address that issue as Ladarius and Jimmy are often injured too- Is Melvin really going to be the savior? Asa Jackson is not a very good corner either. As much as I hate to say this, this team will not be as good as last year.

I also hope Ozzie doesn't try to cheap out on Marshall Yanda and Justin Tucker either- Yanda deserves to get paid.

Our secondary made Cousins and McCoy look like Brady and Rodgers.....that's not good when you consider that our first real game will be against a pretty decent QB.
