[News] Game Recap: Redskins 31, Ravens 13

26 posts in this topic

Pats are 1-2, steelers are 1-2 we are one and two. Another crap game sometimes they come in bunches we wont get to see the team again in bmore for another five weeks so that sucks but I suppose it is what it is. Doesn't change the first statement, preseason means nothing, that statement means true for a reason. The NFL season is a marathon not a sprint, good teams like the pats, the steelers, and the ravens know this we will be fine.

these injuries are a concern. aside from sss the rest of the receivers need to wake up. the tackling was awful from the 2nd group and 3rd groups and aside from his int i think renner has outplayed schaub. 2 more weeks until it counts in the standings and hopefully webb and perriman can see the practice field asap.

Where was the tackling? Ravens might need to reevaluate the coaching of the cornerbacks

Same as last year which means its all defect coaching

Before this game Harb prediced the Skins are physical.  If we had them in our division this game would be considered  street brawling much llike the Steelers.  We did not bring Raven attitude from non-starters except for Jacksons 103 yard return. .

The secondary would have been torched if Cousins wasn't inaccurate and a quality QB was back there. Scary. Another two minute TD :-/. Would like to have seen Buck Allen do better and not burp up the egg on the goal line.

Again, I say, the Harbaugh and Ravens are settling for the easy FGs instead of fighting for the hard TDs. When they should have been up 28-0 or better they are trotting Tucker out 3 times and leaving points on the field. The offense needs the work on short yardage plays--Tuck can kick an extra point but the offense can't score from the two yard line.

Crockett Gilmore was right next to Aiken when Robinson flipped over his teammate, making the dirtiest and most dangerous tackle clearly prohibited by the league. Thus, Crockett was the first to defend his teammate in the scrum. However, my favorite revenge response from Crockett was on the following play for a TD, making that grab and mowing down every defender in his way. Also, the play was called back on a penalty to Aiken, which I reviewed several times and I still don't see anything that warranted a penalty. Regardless, Gilmore sealed the deal with me as 1 of my favorite Ravens on his TD grab and put his rage to good use, leveling any Redskin who tried to tackle him. Now that, my friends, is playing like a Raven!

I for one do not respond to spin or hype, I watch with my own eyes and I draw conclusions from what I see and I am concerned that we are in for a long season... Sorry, but other than a few Joe to Steve completions and a run or two the offense was at best sputtering, If we do not spread the ball around, teams will double Steve and find a way to shut that down. I do not see where they are ready for Denver's defense and we all of a sudden seem to have players who can't stay on the field. Despite the spin, this secondary seems to have as much problems as last years version and I do not think Webb is an answer.

I trust Harbs and Ozzie but it seems to me we have got a long way to go if we are going to perform like the "spin" is suggestion. I hope I am wrong ...

What happened to all the messages on this story from before 1:23 AM. I had several myself.

Apparently there were technical difficulties overnight.

Also, "objective view", see you in the playoffs. You can't tell anything from the preseason. The team will probably lose the opener in Denver because they NEVER beat Peyton Manning (minus one playoff miracle). They'll be 2-2 after the first four games and people like you will be crying "woe is me". But it's a long season and it won't be decided until December where they play 3 out of 4 at home. I'll take those odds. B-)

The ref-ing of this 3rd preseason game was sub par, very disappointing, ...some pivotal calls gone wrong. Hope referees get act together better for regular season. Not that the Ravens would use that as an excuse, but a real momentum drainer is to make good plays, only to have them negated by bad ref-ing.

1st team (even with injuries) looked great, back up players are a bit concerning but hey, this is what preseason is all about, discovery. GO RAVENS!

Take note Ravens fans it does not look like the ball is going to bounce in Ravens favor this year.

looks like it will to me. Our first team dominated , and we we're without several of our best players. K.O, perriman, camp , talioferro , Webb ... Just to name a few. We get healthy and were good to go. Your Puttin way too much stock into the preseason. Take a look around the division. Or even the whole league.

You would think the Redskins won the SB here in Northern Virginia the way they are walking around talking trash. I just laugh and say, preseason!....you were losing 13-0 with the 1st team in remember? But, I guess for them it feels good to actually beat a quality team no matter preseason or not, somehow a little sad for them :) GO RAVENS!

they rarely get to feel good, let them bask in their glory for a week or two, bc lord knows when the season starts they will go back to being abysmal failures.

I thought the starting offense was good because the o-line, gillmore and the vets showed up (flacco, forsett & Steve Smith Sr.)

Marlon Brown, Kamar Aiken and Jeremy Butler were average in both technique & production. Waller was even worse than those 3 because of how raw he is. If not for SSS , the starting O's WR's would have looked pedestrian. The only saving grace is camp & perriman weren't out there so the wr corps we saw last night isn't indicative of what we'll see all season (unless the injuries to camp & perriman are more serious than the team is letting on).

The secondary concerns me. Kendrick lewis hasn't impressed me in coverage all preseason. The only reason why he's a lock to be this team's starting FS is the lack of quality competition w/ that position. He looks lost most of the time. If cousins was a good quarterback, kendrick would have been exposed 3+ times last night. I remember a wr getting behind him on 1 play and cousins flat out whiffing on the pass. His best play all game happened in the box...

Melvin clearly can't operate while playing zone concepts. When he's off of his wr reading the qb, he doesn't seem fast enough from a reactionary standpoint to get back to the wr. He commits a lot of false steps which give the wr even more space than he's supposed to get. The same can be said for tray walker.

I hate to be a negative nancy but that's what i saw. Obviously, i'm not going to spell doom on the season because of some preseason action. I'm just not buying into the hype of some of these players. This team isn't as deep at wr as some of you may think & definitely isn't set at the starting FS spot.
