The good, the bad, and the really bad vs Washington

Yeah that Ed Reed guy has spoiled us, learn to appreciate having a guy that other teams are terrified to take a shot on deep.

Yea big big difference without him.. Makes me appreciate him even more

You play off when you aren't confident in your CBs too. Everyone wants to see press man coverage, but outside of Jimmy we don't have the corners for it. Webb can play man when he's right, but that might never happen. Arrington can play some man, but he's also undersized. I haven't seen enough of Melvin but he struggled last year in press.

Yeah that's true. I've always thought the safeties were the weakest part of the team but the CB corps is certainly looking weak. It's a real shame.

I thought Aiken looked pretty good. He had some nice catches and there was this one play where he should have had a reception from Schaub but the pass was poor. I thought he did well. Other than him the other WRs surely didn't impress outside of SSS.

Just watching Joe throw to Steve, you can see the comfort and trust. The two of them clearly sees the field the same more so than with other TE/WRs who may turn or cut different than expected.

Fully agree, but I think Aiken will be a big part of the offense this year. I can realistically see Perriman and him push SSS to the Slot. A set of Aiken, Perriman and Smith Sr. on the field would just be deadly, add that to Gilmore/Williams. and it would be unfair.

Yeah, so easy to play aggressive on defense and stack the box when you have him back there, such a big drop off from him to Elam, Stewart, and Huff for that one awful game. Hill has been good at least but ideally he is playing more underneath as opposed to being center fielder. True free safeties are becoming much more a rarity though nowadays.

I hope you are right! I see the starting WR line-up as a work in progress. I think, Perriman has yet to prove himself on this level. Both he and Williams will/should be better in future years beyond their rookie season.

I can't say I'm convinced Aiken is the one at this point but, he will have opportunities to prove and solidify his position.

Kickoff and Punt Returner is another issue. The team may need to look outside for one or accept a season of mediocre, up and down results.

Yeah...its clear S.Smith has Flacco's trust. Whatever is earning that trust, I sure hope Smith imparts it to your inexperienced WR's  and after Smith, they all are inexperienced. Come on Steve, coach them up!

I'm very skeptical of Aiken providing much. I don't trust his awareness, that crab move that got him planted is just one illustration. That said, I'll take him if Smith can bring him along.

Right now as it pertains to WR's it appears to be S.Smith or bust.

Aiken  looked pretty good at the end of last year and the playoffs. I think it comes down to lack of talent in our WRs on the roster rather than Aiken being that great of player, because with Perriman out, we certainly don't have anyone better than Aiken (besides SSS of course).

He has separated himself from everyone else at this point. I haven't see a lot from Butler or Brown and Aiken plays against 1st teamers instead of 2nd or 3rd stringers, who Brown and Butler get most of the snaps against. As far as I'm concerned he even outperformed Perriman. My thinking is later on down the line, SSS will be our primary slot WR, IMO Slot WR was where our offense severely lacked at last year and that lineup of Aiken/Perriman/SSS on the field together would be deadly.
