The good, the bad, and the really bad vs Washington

160 posts in this topic

- uh I have nothing but no Death Threats plz

I should advise you and the mods to take the week off. It's about to got... Well. Ugly is too nice of a word. Good luck.

As for the titular thread

The good: Well. Starting offense wasn't bad. Starting defense let up a fluke TD

The bad: Well.... Nothing was bad

The really bad: Still not bad enough

The horrifyingly bad: Everything else

I'm confident in our team.

Starting Offense and Defense looked awesome for the most part.

Our backups need to relearn football.

And that fight was BS. I felt like the 'skins were headhunting the whole game.

Steve Smith is the good.  I love that dude.  He makes everything personal and puts a chip on his shoulder.

I liked Jackson's kick off return. I hated how he fielded punts, strangely since I used to like how he returned punts. He was horrendous beyond explanation as a CB. I'm extremely disappointed in him there and I think I'd rather give a roster spot to Tramain Jacobs at CB than Jackson. Not sure if he'll get cut since he can handle returns, although I'm not even sure he does that even OK anymore. He looks like his confidence is shot or shaky. The back-up DBs as a whole suck.

I'm worried about depth in the secondary, OL, & DL. That's the bottom-line. TE corps looks awesome. I think our TEs are great. Renner looks solid and I like him more than Schaub at this point. Jensen is a nice surprise.

Apparently Steve Smith is the team. 13-0 with Smith. 0-31 without Smith.

Think we can talk him out of retirement?

The Good:  Steve Smith is STILL that dude.

The Bad:  ZERO offense by the starters after Smith was ejected.

More Bad: Jernigan injury.

Depth is troublesome. Like mentioned above no offense after SSSr was ejected. Without Perriman healthy, outside of SSSr our WR group is terrible.

Secondary depth is horrible as well, but I mean we already knew that right?

Pray for no significant injuries. Go to church gameday morning.

Remember when it seemed it would be really difficult to cut our roster? It is now a matter of scouring the waiver wire to bolster the team.

I really wish camp and williams played tonight. It's a shame Schaub is probably our backup QB. He really has done nothing to earn it over Renner.

Look...the 49rs are going nowhere this year.

pretty sure we could offer them a 7th for Q.

Smith and Q together to Bail flacco out

sounds good to me! :)

Starters looked fine but I hate Jernigan's injury. Apart from that goal line stuff at the end of half, I thought Buck Allen wasn't bad, especially running behind make-shift O line. Gillmore just confirmed what I keep saying since last year's draft - that dude is awesome. Hat off to Senior.

Some of our backup guys look like decent material to coach up and turn into solid NFL players. Good thing is that they won't get to play together, at least not too many off them at the same time, in the games that matter.

I am now more convinced than ever that I want Renner kept and Schaub cut. I can understand the young player making mistakes but Schaub does not have any excuse. Even Renner's bad plays look much prettier than Schaub's.

Glad coach ran across the field to ask the fatty whether they really teach their dirty players how to spear tackle.

If the preseason is any indication of what's coming, I dread to see what will we get from refs this year.

Until next Thursday...  The game thread was, just like the 2nd half of the game, also, ugly tonight.  The regular season games, we will not be so lenient.   We heard the roars. And trolling was duly noted.  The game wasn't the best at all, but was a preseason game...  nothing to get too upset about yet.  And needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

We need Perriman on the field and healthy, we desperately need his speed on the outside. I'm fairly happy with all the other pass catchers, obviously Smitty looked like an animal. But I like our TE's a lot, and Aiken is a solid #3 option.

Jernigan gets injured a LOT..

if he can't stay healthy this year our rush is going to suffer immensely...it isn't that great to begin with..there is no way suggs and doom will replicate last year and one of the two at least will def be showing their age a bit more

Can we please trade for Corey Graham back? Most underrated Raven on that SB run BY FAR.

Not underrated to anyone who paid attention. But unfortunately he wanted to go home, we had no shot at keeping him.

Absolutely...  I always liked Graham...  he went home.  He's originally from Buffalo and wanted to go there.

That return was fools gold. Not only is he a risky guy to have returning kicks for us as far as fielding them poorly and fumbling but more importantly he's a terrible corner. You don't designate a roster spot for a return specialist. I hope the coaching staff doesn't buy into that one return too much because like I said it's fools gold. Would rather give that spot to a guy who can actually play corner.

When you play a team like the Pats, Broncos, Colts you have to have guys on your roster who can actually cover. Not glorified return specialists (I use the term specialist loosely) who can't cover anyone to save their life.

Good: Smith Sr.  Run D looked solid from the starters.

Possible good: No one will have any tape on Perriman when he hits the field.

Not 100% convinced good: Gilmore could be the real deal

Too much horrifically bad.

The backup defense just looks awful, and that includes fundamentals. Tackling, penalties, you name it. First-team looks good, but suggests this team might be too top-heavy.

The backup offense is hard to judge while Schaub is being Schaub.

It's really hard to judge The Ravens rush in the preseason. Suggs never seem to turn it up during preseason. I don't even remember him looking great in 2011 preseason and that's the year he won defensive player of the year. Suggs and Doom didn't even look great last year in preseason either to my understand.

Just saw that pile drive tackle, I was out to dinner tonight....  WOW, Aiken is gonna be hurtin tomorrow.  52 should have been DQ'd too.  That was a dangerous tackle.

Its no so much that we lost but how we lost. For a team we thought had some real depth, our backups are looking lost.I get what your saying and for the sake of this team I hope your right.

This officiating has been absolutely 100% abysmal.  And absolutely unacceptable.

Yeah they've been well below the standard. The call on that td to crockett was absolute nonsense. Also did Robinson even get a penalty for that pile drive?

Nope - there were 3 flags on D, none on Robinson. All 5 flags were thrown for stuff that happened after the dirty hit.

Yes, Crockett call was bogus, and no, Robinson did not, but Aiken did...  SMH...  refs got it bad for the Ravens already, and the season hasn't even started yet.
