[News] Will Hill Signs Two-Year Contract With Ravens

72 posts in this topic

I think it's a great opportunity for Ozzie to sign Courtney Upshaw at this time before he gets too expensive. He should be the next one to get sign. Get him done then were down to three Tucker, K.O., and Yanda as are important free agents. One step at a time.

Says a lot about Hill as well, he knows the prime rate for Safeties in this league, and instead of testing the FA next year, he signed the deal....Good job Oz, and Hill for getting it done....

It may be wise, I have a gut feeling Upshaw is going to have a really good year.

@cobrajet Yep, I believe Upshaw will have a great year as well. Ozzie has a great opportunity here to keep Upshaw in Baltimore. A very great opportunity. :-)

I went back and looked because I knew I had made a comment on Hill I thought was really appropriate to remind people why he deserves this................What more can you ask for. Here is a player who screwed up big time and could have developed an attitude and fought the establishment. Instead he chose to become part of it. To become a fixture in Owings Mills, to bring along the younger players and develop relationships with all of them. To work out when others rested, to study while others vacationed and when he vacationed he vacationed with other members of the secondary. He didn't choose to stroll in with the coaches here so they could see him, he chose to beat them into the building. Kudos to the front office for taking a chance on a guy they felt could turn it around and because they did, he will be not only a better player for it, but a better person and member of the community as well. Kudos to Will Hill for being a good person, a role model and a man who is living and playing like a Raven.

Happy about this. We need experience and stability as Brooks and Elam figure it out and get healthy respectively. I think he and Lewis will be a good tandem this year. We cannot deep win into the post season without a secondary.

I will be very disappointed if Tucker,Yanda,KO are not signed...yet Ozzie signs a couple second tier players like Hill. We have the best kicker in the NFL, a HOF Caliber RG Yanda, and pro bowl caliber LG KO, combo the best G tandem in NFL. Individually and collectively better then Hill and make this team a SB Contender yrly..they deserve extensions before a borderline pro bowl safety at best. With all due respect Hill aint Ed Reed.

It is a good move to lock this guy up since Elam is out has still trying to prove himself.

More like how to play football.

Yikes!!!!!! I got a negative comment about a great opportunity in extending Upshaw. LOL Why's that. :-(

Talk bad about Webb, Perriman, or Brown and the Kool Aid drinkers will be all over you.

Hill is a potential probowler. The secondary with Hill, Smith, Lewis, Arrington and Melvin/Vaughn will be one of the best in the league. They just need to stay healthy. Brooks should get on the field as well. This type of back end is what we need to be a top 5 defense or better. Congrats to Will Hill for growing up, just in time. We owe the Giants one, they must be sick.

Have no fear, a lot of dead money comes off the books at the end of this season, the salary cap will go up another ten or so million.  Look at most of our position groups, we have great juniors still on rookie contracts, with the odd veteran on modest money (because they are happy to be here in a great organisation that's consistently a contender), and a handful of studs who need (and deserve) to get paid.  We are in great shape.

If we didn't resign Jarrett Johnson we surely aren't planning to resign upshaw.....too many young fast DE's coming out of college every year to pay a DE.....On the upside upshaw will totally perform this year to get paid by cleveland or the jets.....But not us....

@Bohica5 not if Ozzie can extend his contract before next year he won't cost as much. Upshaw is really important to this defense or the run defense is gonna struggle on the outside. 3 year contract extension would be nice. Now if Zadarius Smith can become a good run stopper and passrusher then yeah you can let Upshaw go but it still remained to be answered. Upshaw is a huge piece to this defense.

Ozzie has to wait for all the 30 million Dead money from Ray Rice and others to clear next year to sign Yanda, Osemele, Upshaw and Tucker. Tuckers getting signed no problem, but Osemele and Yanda is gonna break the bank.

Hill: You've earned my salute. Lead the team in interceptions this year and I will have you over for dinner. Make no mistake about it - you are a Raven. Keep up the solid defense and communication with the Dbs. Get the football, keep the football!

I'm not a fan of starting Kendrick Lewis, just like i wasn't happy with starting Darian Stewart last year.

Anthony Levine, Nick Perry atleast till Terrence Brooks comes back.

This is an awesome move and says a lot about the strides Will Hill has made. This has success story written all over it and we have taken a huge step forward in solidifying our DBs. Now if we can get Tucker under contract things will be really awesome.
