[News] Late For Work 8/26: John Harbaugh And Mike Tomlin Find New Competition

49 posts in this topic

Why would anybody take Tomlin over Harbaugh is something I fail to understand. Tomlin is gives you preacher talk with grammatical errors while Harbaugh is the real deal!

I disagree, the drunk Mike Tomlin on youtube is hilarious.....lol

If Melvin island were on a map it would rival the size of Australia.

Yeah,

This Melvin worship is interesting isn't it?

Last game he plays he surrenders the ship without a shot being fired.

We'll see.

Agreed.  They may be our biggest rivals but I did like their YouTube shows.

Melvin > Webb,  Webb > Melvin,  Personally I really don't care.  Put the best 11 defensive players on the field to put us in a position to win is all I ask for.

How about Webb + Melvin + Smith + Arrington + Hill + Kendrick > Manning for the season opener in Denver?

I like Suggs and I have no idea what his intentions were on that shot... and frankly I don't care how the baltimore ravens sponsored site and team apologists denied that it was a purposeful shot... the picture and video is clear that suggs went for the QB's knees intentionally. Again I don't know the reason behind it.. but while I get you stay away from the helmet to helmet contact.. this takes it to a whole new level. This is why our Ravens get a bad rep for playing dirty (even though I don't think that's generally the case)

What do you mean "our Ravens" Steeler fan?

Yeah, but you gotta admit he sure plays well on the Steelers special teams with that trick knee move (from the sideline, of course), ha ha.

Vick signed with the Steelers? Am surprised that happened. I went over to the Steelers site to get a feel of how they feel. They disabled comments on the Vick signing but was able to find comments about it on next story. One of them said - "I am a 61 year old lifetime Steeler fan. I will no longer be able to watch MY Steelers until Vick is gone. I am SO disappointed in the Rooneys! I may have to change my dog's name, her name is Rooney!" Some Steelers fans even wanted to sign Ray Rice, saying if they signed Vick, why not add Ray Rice? Very interesting comments over here. If Vick plays against the Ravens, you can bet we will let the dogs out, literally. Woof!

He sure did and Schefter tweeted yesterday that Tomlin wanted him 6 years ago just getting out of prison.  Makes you wonder what he had in store with Ben so fully entrenched there.

Steelers fans can be strange breed.  I live among many in PA now and they have a very idealistic view of their team and an be blissfully unaware of their own issues.  The hero worship is off the charts and expect nothing less of Godliness of their players.  Then when one gets in trouble as Ben had did they pissed and ornery over it, but eventually a Pittsburgh reporter will defend some aspect of them (such as Ben's matters being settled out of court) and all is forgiven and they're free to call Ray Lewis a murder, Suggs a cheap shot artist and Rice a wife beating.

One thing that changes their attitude is finally seeing the player in Black and Yellow.  Then all is forgiven...even if they end up signing Ray Rice.

And I'm sure that the poor Steelers fan will end up watching Steelers games and will end up eventually changing his dog's name to "Vick" if he has to play and keeps them winning.

I agree Steelers fans will end up watching the games but less money will be spend from many Steelers fans on their products. Changing dog's name from Rooney to Vick is hilarious, cracked me up. lol  :D

Well, his intentions was to tackle a runner. The NFL allows you to hit a QB on an option play. Since the QBS job is to sell the hand off and possibly keep the ball and run with it, thus making him a running back, he loses his passers protection. Clean hit, bad flag, period.

I see Aiken as the number 2 by natural default.  He is healthy, experienced and a go to guy.   I think Perriman won't be a household name until mid point or late in the season.  I think our biggest position concern is who will be the punt returners.  At this point our D looks very ordinary.  I hope we do not give up 35+ points again.  This is the magic pre season game 3 where starters get increased playing time. Beat the Redskins

I still like the term Melvin's Minefield better.

What like land mines?  Step on one it explodes and you do too?  Where did you visualize that?

What comes to mind is "Melvin's Artillery Range".  The big howitzer shells come flying in and Melvin never sees them.  His defense involves listening for their whistle and gravitating towards the spot.  One day he may even catch one.

And the OTHER games he played he played lights out for a first time starter.

I'll grant you we won some of those games.  Our defensive line was putting some pressure on and we were getting some sacks.

You give a guy a pass on a bad play or two.  But 214 yards, 2 TD's is an all day affair.  The burden of proof has shifted in a situation like that.

I remember a Jimmy Johnson story where a once reliable place kicker came to him and stated, "coach, I've lost confidence". Johnson cut him that day.

Mike Tomlin. One word. Arrogant!!

I'm not tolerant of cheating and his stunt a few years ago diminishes him to a point of insignificance.

lol so if i'm a ravens fan i'm required to defend them no matter what they do huh? thanks, good to know... it's called having an opinion. I sometimes criticize because I love the team and want them to improve in spite of what you may believe.

The real question is.. why are you in denial of Suggs' hit on Bradford?

nobody's in denial. I call it how I see it. If Suggs wanted to injure Bradford he could have easily done it. He obviously let up and wrapped him with his arms. A "dirty hit" would have been him driving his shoulder through his legs and following through. Bradfords awkward fall is what made it look like it did. Completely blown out of proportion and made Bradford look like a freaking wimp. Every single nfl analyst has awknowledged that not only was it a legal hit, it was not a dirty hit. Real quarterbacks don't act like divas, and neither do real ravens fans. So believe what you want but your clearly in the minority...

I'd rather be called a diva than lose my ability to play football (from a dirty hit) and financially support my family with a career dude. turn on some news outside of baltimore and you'd recognize it's not a "minority" opinion.

uhhhh what have you been watching? Bc literally every single news outlet (and every single analyst within each outlet) has stated the same thing. I don't even listen to any news outlets in baltimore. Heck even skip bayless who is known for hating Terrell Suggs said it wasn't a dirty hit and Bradford just fell awkwardly. Several QBs have said it wasn't a dirty hit. Watch the play again. Somehow I'm thinkin you must have watched it live and just saw Bradford's reaction and came up with a conclusion immediately without keeping an open mind. Either that or your delusional. Wake up. Quarterbacks are way too overprotected. Can't go high, can't go low. Chip tryed to say it wasn't a read option and players on his own team said otherwise. And the majority of the eagles said it wasn't dirty. Get outta here with that mess.
