[News] Rookie Running Back Buck Allen Next In Line

14 posts in this topic

Hope Fitz gets a real look see from the team. Just like the way he runs and he seems to be only a play or two from breaking a big one. Reminds one somewhat of Holmes when he came in as an undrafted FA and impressed. But the emphasis is on the word somewhat. Only more playing time will tell.

Sit Forsett for this game and the next. It's actually going to be a lot of fun to watch Allen, Magee and Toussaint Saturday. Magee looked really good last week.

what will really help our guys shine is if our o line guys are healthy, and if the back up o line players can give our rbs a chance to show the coaches and us what they can do. in the last game the rbs were hit in the back field, we won't have any clarity if it happens again

as long as OLine is healthy, i dont care who u put back there, depth at RB position is not a concern for the ravens.

That is incredibly lame is Taliaferro, who was looking very good, gets knocked down the depth chart and gets less carries in the regular season, all because of an injury in a worthless preseason game.

Taliafaro will get his spot back the guy was gettin 5 yards every time he touched the ball. We need that power run game to weaken defenses.

I think Toussaint is a better back right now just due to his experience. I bet he gets the backup role. He's bigger and tougher than Allen. I thought he looked very good last year in the preseason. I hope he does the same in the next two preseason games. He, Allen and McGhee should all get a lot of carries. Forsett shouldn't even get on the field.

IMO we shouldn't ever play a single starter in any preseason game. They are worthless and the injuries aren't worth it. Just let all the rookies and 2nd/3rd/4th team guys have fun.

I don't understand why people complain about "worthless" preseason games. Players are going to get hurt, regardless. During CBA negotiations the league agreed to stop 2 a day practices and really limit the amount of pad time that players have in training camp and during the season because of injuries. Now that they aren't getting injured in training camp (which was deemed "worthless") now they are getting injured in preseason game (which people are now saying is "worthless"). So let me get this straight, players are supposed to not practice, not play in preseason games, not play in pads and then go out in the regular season and play. And people think that will provide what kind of a product on the field? These guys are getting millions upon millions of dollars and all they want to do is go out once a week for 16 to 20 weeks, not practice, not play preseason games, and then go out and provide people who are paying outrageous ticket prices a crappy product because nobody has practiced enough to do anything on the field. This is getting crazy. If the General Manager and Coach thinks that they are putting a player at risk, then they wont play him because they know their paychecks are tied to winning games and you can't win games if your good players are injured. Preseason for the most part, except for week 3, is a time for the young guys to show what they can do. Most starters aren't playing except for those who the GM and Coach think needs the work. I am sorry, but the first four weeks of the season suck anyway while players finally learn the plays and what they need to do and we finally get good football about week 5 when teams finally get the play time they need to be good. Taliaferro was a back who missed games last year and clearly they thought he needed work or he wouldn't have played.
