[News] Wide Receiver Marlon Brown: I Have To Make Up For Lost Time

20 posts in this topic

Let's hope he gets back up to speed fast - Joe needs targets he can rely on (of course, it helps when Joe delivers the ball on target too). Let's go Marlon!

I like Marlon he reminds me of Jacoby and if used correctly can be a dangerous weapon for the Ravens! His size and speed call for double moves just going long is kool sometimes but it can't fool the safety as we all found out against the pats! The safety was 5yds away from Torrey if that before Joe released the ball! Double moves will get Marlon open more and faster! LETS DO THIS

Now that Marlon is healthy, lets keep it that way. He is a dangerous threat and we need him. Just don't try and catch up to fast and get hurt again.

@Purple Dawg, Marlon can serve a purpose but JACOBY? Marlon cant be Jacoby has track speed. He has Randy Moss Speed, and hes 6'5, 6'6 like Moss. Now he doesnt catch like Moss but his Speed alone was a big enough threat as a second deep threat/returner defenses had to respect.

Marlon will be like another TE basically, 6'5 200 plus lbs.. Not real fast perfect body for catching passes in traffic over the middle and another redzone target

Marlon Brown, Campanaro, Kamar Aiken, Perriman, Steve Smith, and Darren Waller should be our wr depth chart. Jeremy Butler and DeAndre Carter should be the odd mans out. Jeremy Butler is a good practice player but not a good game player. DeAndre Carter is not a good route runner and nor showing anything positive.

I think he has a great shot since Campanaro can't seem to stay healthy and Perriman has yet to see the field. Waller is a must in my opinion. We just might end up keeping more than we really want to because of the injuries. All that does is prevent depth at another position. This is why a coach's job is so hard.

If you get the ball near Marlon , he will catch it. Ive seen him open several times but wasn't targeted. Joe needs to use him.

after seeing our team deal with so many injuries, you have to appreciate how guys like flacco and sss have been able to stay healthy and play at such a high level consistently. (knocks on wood)

I like Brown but I still feel that Waller is the best option to put on the field with SSS. Waller has size, speed and the ability to go up strong. Brown has size, but doesn't have the speed to stretch the offense opposite of SSS the way the Waller does with his 4.47 speed (Brown was 4.63 coming out of college). Waller can fill the role of Torrey Smith. All he needs to do is run a 9 route, a slant, a wide receiver screen and a double move. Smith can do the rest on his side and either Brown or Camp can fill the slot spot. Just my opinion.

I must admit to being a Marlon Brown fan. His production went down last year, but I saw him make some SSS-like moves that shows he is learning from the best. However, after that errant pass on Saturday, I am concerned he may not be a tall enough target for Joe :)...think we could get a few 7' tall receivers in the draft next year?

Joe just keeps throwing em higher and higher, lol.

I think he expected Marlon to push the route a little further up field. If he cuts back a few yards later, that wouldve been on target. They'll iron that out with more time.

Marlon's not Gumby........sooner or later joe has to throw a catchable ball.....don't blame the receiver for joe's misthrows!!

The ball clearly wasnt uncatchable, the DB handled it quite nicely.

It was just off target.

There are two ways to fix that: one is for Marlon to go further down field (where the safety was), the other is for Joe to throw it lower. Either solution is doable, but the two have to be on the same page about which approach to take.

I didnt blame anybody for anything.

i said the two were still feeling each other out.

Marlon hasnt had signifcant play time with Joe since two years ago and he's been dealing with injuries all off season. they arent familiar.

Good thought but from where I watched I think 8-9 foot would have been needed for that pass.  Joe said so too.

Hopefully he stays healthy. I like Marlon and remember that once he has the ball, he doesn't give it up or go down easy. If he can get 7 TDs, I'm fine with that!

No offense, but people need to quit getting excited every year about "camp players" like Waller. The kid may look good in practice or pre-season, but Marlon has already proven himself as not only a playmaker, but a starter for the Ravens, in the regular season. There was honestly no real reason to knock him down the depth chart last season, when he should have still been starting outside, and Smith Sr. playing slot like they talked about when they first brought him in. But regardless, We know the guy can play, and he is the most experienced on the roster outside of Smith, with Brown technically having one more year experience with the Ravens and Joe, over Steve.

Brown should have a big year now that Torrey is gone. It may take a while for Perriman to get on the field with his knee problem so Brown will have a big role. He has a lot of experience and is a big target. With Brown, Waller and Gilmore on the field Flacco should be able to find one of them. They make a fierce red zone package.
