Steve Smith acts like a Raven plays like a Raven and is proud to be a Raven.   I hope the team carries him to a SB so he can retire a Raven.

Side Note: Every time I see Toussaint he is pumelled at the line of scrimmage, I believe Buck stays and he goes.

Since retiring and Ngata are subjects of this article, what if Ngata retires as a Lion after playing with them for only 2 years, would that bother you?

The equivalent of Favre retiring as a Viking in my opinion...

It probably didn't help Ngata's cause when he got the suspension for taking Adderall right before the postseason. We made it without him and that showed the front office that he wasn't indispensable. If he had been willing to restructure his contract as some have done, things might have gone differently. If he's holding a grudge, too bad for him! Money before loyalty...that's what he preferred.

There's nothing to restructure. He had one year left on his deal.

He either signs an extension or gets traded/released. The two sides couldn't come to terms on an extension, so he's not here anymore.

Standard protocol in the NFL, and the Ravens could through this every single season with multiple players.

I really can't stand it when fans annoint a player after 1 or 2 games in the preseason against 3rd string players or players that won't even be on a team next month at all. Don't get me wrong I'm excited about rynner as well and think he has a lot of potential, next year he would be a great candidate for the backup position. But as for this year we brought in Schaub and signed him to a contract for a reason. He knows the system. He's not flashy but if joe goes down he can be a good enough game manager to get us over the hump. As good as rynner has looked, IMO he's not ready.

Really??....He's only played 1 or 2 preseason games? And looked terrible against 2nd and 3rd string players(isn't he suppose to excel against those players)......dude.....the Raiders saw he had nothing left......the Texans couldn't wait to dump him an no one else was interested in him....And he's terrible!!.....Renner can learn the system as a backup and has shown flashes of what a Raven should play like......Haven't seen that from schaub for 3-4 years.............smh

wasn't referring to Schaub ......dude.

& Schaub spent years learning kubiaks system. That's why we signed him. You expect rynner to learn it in 6 months? That's just not rational.

would be weird but wouldn't bother me. That's his prerogative.

Its really an argument about nothing at this point. Neither of these guys is in the same stratosphere in terms of QB play as Joe, and neither would win more than 6-7 games max on a team where Joe missed an entire season.

In that case, we're borderline better off with the weaker of the two, because I'd rather just tank and get a top 10 pick at that point.

I'd be all for trying to "develop" some type of QB, except for the next basically 8-10 years, that's all he would ever do is develop, and he'd be long gone from the roster at that point. We can attempt to develop some sort of backup who wouldn't completely face plant if he were to go down, except I don't think our team is talented enough as currently designed to withstand an extended absence from Joe and still be a viable contender.
